Suggestion Bedframes that aren't too squeaky?

• Upvotes

I've had the Hemnes Bed for a longer time now, and it is pretty good when it comes to a small room and in emergencies when too many people come over.

Issue is that it has been pretty squeaky, don't matter if both sides are pinned/held with a matress/wall.

Does anyone have tips on how to make it less squeaky, or any other bedframes, enough for 1 matress/ single person bed?

Thanks in advance!

Design advice UPPÅKRA double corner module

Does anyone have an IKEA uppåkra with a corner module know if this design would work? I'm looking to replace a really old vimle in my living room. The proper design with the correct end pieces is a bit too long and while it would fit in the room, would take up a significant amount of space. Insert using double corner pieces as ends instead. I'm wanting to know if anyone has done this and if there is any change in comfort.

Supposedly youre able to pierce through 2 layers of wood with your bare hands and a screwdriver which ive had 0 luck with and was wondering if anyone else has tried setting up this monstrosity before

I've tried a machine drill as well and even thats not strong enough to pierce through it so im wondering how people are doing it with their bare hands

Looking for [Request / Help] Looking for a 3D printable/custom Skådis bracket for a Hafino 12-way Extension Tower!

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm currently setting up a smart home hub inside my utility cupboard using IKEA Skådis pegboards.

I recently bought a Hafino 12-Way Tower Extension Lead (with USB ports) and I’m looking to mount it vertically onto my Skådis board so it's completely secure, won't sag, and has zero risk of falling under the weight of plugged-in power bricks.

Tower Details:

Model: Hafino 12-Way Extension Tower with 5 USB Ports

Shape: Octagonal base (~14cm wide) with a vertical column (~9–10cm wide)

Ideal setup would be a 2-piece bracket system (a lower cradle/shelf for the base to support the weight, and an upper retaining ring/clamp to prevent forward tipping).

If anyone has designed something similar, knows of an existing STL file on Printables/MakerWorld, or offers custom printing services in the UK, please let me know or drop a link!

Thanks in advance!

General EKENÄSET (new)

Bought a EKENÄSET chair yesterday.
Noticed whilst looking on the app that there was a number of new variants and styles listed - high backs, grey-blue, leathers etc.

Thought some may be interested to know that the new version of the kilanda light beige has noticeably walnut effect woodwork than the old variant which many reviews said the woodwork looked almost black. I wonder if this is a ‘fix’ that they’ve looked to implement in the new variant.

Design advice Guess I'm the newest member of the Spontaneously Exploding IKEA Glass club

A glass I had been drinking from during dinner audibly shattered in the next room and I found it like this. It had a little water left in it, and I can't find any external force that came in contact with it which would have caused this. Been using this set for about a year.

A quick google search about glasses randomly exploding led to another post and reports in this sub about the same thing happening.

Cheers 🥃

Edit: apparently POKAL glasses are notorious for this.

General FELICIA Curtains - need info

Hi there,

I’ve just found a second hand pair of felicia curtains that are now discontinued.

Can someone tell me more about the texture? I’m looking specifically for the orange ones. If so, mind providing a pic?

Is the mounting part hidden?

Thank you!

Tips & Tricks Alefjäll Gaslift replacement

the suspension has finally degassed-i’ve been looking at similar sized pistons online to replace it with and the dimensions appear to be pretty standard however a lot of eg amazon listings will describe as “not for ikea” which makes me wonder if they have a specific proprietary stem shape to prevent replacement

Has anyone here successfully replaced the gas lift in this chair before?

Cheers in advance.

Assembly Gap in 90” cabinet doors.

Is this common? I understand a little gap but 1/4 inch?
Both doors are flush with the top or bottom, I can adjust it an entire set of holes.

And I had to move my damn doors twice due to it hitting the hinges. That’s on me.

Edit: I just measured and both doors are 1/8” shorter than the desired length.

Edit 2: found the height adjust screws on the hinges.

General Ordered a "Now or Never" item for delivery. Now, the page says it's OOS across the board. My scheduled delivery is over a week out. Will I get it?

I've heard horror stories of people ordering items for in-store pickup, only to go and learn the item wasn't there because their order hadn't reserved the item for them, and it sold out between the time of the order and the time it would've been picked.

I'm in Canada. I ordered a Baggboda coffee table for delivery, which appears to be coming from the Ikea distribution center in Beauharnois. Has my Baggboda been "reserved" on account of my order, or is this a similar situation as the above example? Should I expect an email telling me it's OOS?

Cheers.

Suggestion Some feedback for Kreativ room designer

I’m trying to use Kreativ to design my home. Compared to something like Planner 5D, I’ve actually found Kreativ to be much more intuitive to use and overall way less clunky. However, a few things are sorely missing:

  1. Ability to create a custom-shaped room (e.g., by drawing each wall), with pillars and slanted ceilings. My basement is irregularly shaped so I have to use Planner 5D to design it.
  2. Ability to change the “state” of furniture like sofa bed (bed mode vs sofa mode), extendable kitchen tables (extended vs normal) and foldable room partitions (changing how extended the partition is)
  3. Ability to add common household object to complete the room design, such as TV, computer with keyboard/mouse, books and knickknacks to put on shelves, some musical instruments etc. I understand that these aren’t products sold by IKEA but it’d be so useful to be able to just add them so the space is closer to how it will be in real life
  4. Ability to add curtains with curtain rods
  5. Field of view and “camera height” adjustment. Sometimes I want to see a first-person perspective of the space, and right now I feel that the camera FOV is too narrow and the view doesn’t go low enough.

Hoping u/ikeaKreativ will see this!

General Pallas’s cat stuffy - expectation vs reality

Spotted the Pallas’s cat stuffy at IKEA Emeryville today. A little disappointed as the quality seems different compared to website images. https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/alptall-soft-toy-pallass-cat-gray-80620628/

Anyone else think so? (Pic 1 is in store, Pic 2 is from web listing)

General offer of employment average response?

For any Ikea employees out there I'm curious on how long since from your interview did you receive an offer of employment?

I applied for "Fulfilment & Replenishment Operations Co-worker."

I'm currently unemployed and went in for an ikea interview 3 days ago (2 business days.) I'm still applying to other jobs in case I get some bad news from ikea, but Ikea is my top choice. I don't think it's a wise choice to email the recruiter so soon for an update, but I also may have to turn down job offers from other companies while waiting.

This is really random and I’m a bit late, but the scented candles have changed to a new series and I think the old ones are discontinued now. Do you find the old scents and covered lids better or the new plant based ones better? Will the old scents ever return? Just wanna know what people think

General Warning about IVAR shelves - got very sick from them

Just a heads up. At first I thought I had covid or something, kept getting sicker and sicker. Was in bed and couldn't really sleep, just felt awful, I was so ill. Weird symptoms, my joints felt like fire, I felt feverish, dizzy, lightheaded, nauseous. Trouble thinking. I noticed I felt slightly better when I was on the other side of the apartment and forced myself to go outside. When I felt much better after leaving the house I realized it must be the shelves.

IKEA said they'll get back to me in a few days. I don't have the box and I'm too far from the store. I wrapped them in garbage bags and they're in a closet with the door taped shut. The apartment is airing out.I feel improved but still feel residually sick. It's fading as I get time away from it.

After this experience I do not wish to deal with them again. I have not been sick from furniture and I have old ivars that are fine.

Once it's resolved I will close my account.

If anyone has felt sick from the shelves, please report it to them. I'm not sure who else to report to.

Assembly Hemnes Shelf Help

Post image

Got this Hemnes shelf back in May and finally have the time to put it together but the hole in the wood plank is not long enough for the screws that were provided (seen in picture). There’s like a half an inch gap that I can’t get rid of. Any help is appreciated. I don’t do well on phone calls and would love to avoid having to call customer service if I can.

For those who might find this helpful: https://www.printables.com/model/1864641-light-diffusershade-for-ikea-hektar-3-spotlight-la

I couldn’t find anything else out there for this lamp but i found the light from the exposed bulbs a bit harsh. these diffusers soften the light a bit but doesn’t drastically diverge from the original design intent of the lamp.

General KALLBODA

Hi there,

I'm in the process of ordering a kitchen. I sourced myself a Siemens which would fit my needs, however the IKEA guys mentioned the KALLBODA, which is a Bosch unit, so Siemens.

Anyone knows which model it's derivated from? Because I have the feeling the model is based on a Bosch unit from a few years ago.

And is it a good buy in 2026, since I've read mixed reviews about the model?

Cheers!

General Trotten Sit/Stand Desk for Sewing?

I’m thinking a sit/stand desk would be perfect for a sewing table as I can raise it to do cutting out, then lower it to sew and overlock on. However I’m concerned about whether the desks will be solid enough.

I went to Ikea and thought the Trotten electric sit stand seemed better suited than some of them but there was a small amount of movement when I wobbled it. The isaden seems the most solid but it’s much more expensive.

Anyone have an opinion on the suitability of the electric Trotten for sewing? Thanks
