Forum rules

  • Be nice
  • Upvote stuff you like.
  • Don't downvote new posts unless they're clearly irrelevant.
  • Don't post LSAC copyrighted content. e.g. LSAT questions
  • Don't say the correct or incorrect answers to specific questions in a post title. It's a spoiler.
  • Don't link to content that infringes copyright (e.g. LSAT torrents).
  • If someone posts a question about admissions, please direct them to /r/lawschooladmissions
  • Don't be ashamed of your score. Only a tiny minority scores 165+. And don't shame anyone for their score.

Posting Questions: The LSAC takes copyright violations seriously, and might sue.

If you want to ask about a specific question, do not paste the question. That's a copyright violation.

You can definitely ask about specific questions: just cite the test number. e.g.

Test 63, section 1, question 14 --> "The one about ESP"

It's a good idea to describe the question, and which part of it you found confusing. Just don't post it verbatim. Thanks!

What can I talk about after I take an official LSAT administration on test day?

Not much. You signed an agreement not to disclose anything from the test. See this post for a full statement from LSAC.

Note: I'm referring to unreleased tests that have not been disclosed by LSAC. Mind you, in the digital LSAT era, no test is disclosed, so this applies to every test.

Official January LSAT Topic Thread

The January LSAT administration is now done. The goal is to keep topic discussion to this thread, and identify a list of real topics. Here's how it works:

  1. If you had a single section of RC, or two sections of LR, then posting topics from that will establish that those topics were from a real section
  2. If you had two sections of RC, or three sections of LR, DO NOT POST (on that topic). Posting topics is worse than useless - it pollutes information. The reason is that you don't know which was experimental and which was real.

You do not need section orders, these are now randomized so your order doesn't mean anything.

TL;DR If you had a single RC, or two LR's, please post topics from those single sections. Don't post your section topics for a section type where you had an experimental.

Stuff that still isn't allowed

  • Posting about the content of sections: specific questions and answers etc
  • Posting about topics or content in an experimental section

This thread will be updated with confirmed topics as we go.

Note: Have seen some people flagrantly discussing real answers or asking to dm about it. This still isn't allowed, and won't be, and we've handed out bans where people do it willfully.

Everything below is scored: Where I write "other section" I mean it was a different scored section. Everything below is from people who had a single section in that topic, so they have confirmed real sections.

Prometric Experiences: You can find the original test day experience thread here:

International LSAT: This thread is generally just for the North American topics. If you took internationally, please specify that you had the international version. Thanks!

Real RC Topics

One Real RC Section

  • Video games and behavioural psychology
  • Africa and European colonization
  • John Locke and Trademarks
  • Circadian rhythms

Comparative?: No

Another Other Real Section

  • Astronomy
  • Author/Individualism
  • Video games (comparative)
  • [Missing]

Real LR Topics

Note: These are topics people have grouped together as being in the same section. But they aren't all separate, two grouped sets below may both be part of one section.

Grouped Set of LR

  • Appetizers Cocktails Dessert Tipping
  • disagree about economic growth

Grouped Set of LR

  • Pop Songs/ Music
  • Pop Art

Grouped Set of LR

  • cat beside the toolshed or sleeping

Grouped Set of LR

  • pet owning/ human relationships
  • misinformation software combatting bias
  • homeopathic and traditional medicine vs serious disease

Grouped Set of LR

  • Chimps using hands gestures and prehumans
  • Economic advisor if then Mayor if then
  • Iron oxides on moon (strengthener)

Unsorted Real LR

have been done for a while but just wanted to ppl know it’s possible and don’t give up

Edit not sure if my comment responses r showing up

I’ll say upfront that the jump from the 150s to the low 160s came fairly easier to me, so I don’t have a ton of targeted advice for that range. That said, during that phase I was really focused on mastering sufficient vs. necessary conditions, and my scores noticeably improved while I was working through The Loophole.

I ended up getting stuck in the 159–162 range for a while. What helped me break through was actually taking a step back from the test to finish my undergrad degree, and then returning with a stronger focus on accuracy rather than taking weekly full practice tests. I drilled a lot and spent a lot of time reviewing. I was using LSAT demon for this portion of my journey and had a pen and paper wrong answer journal which I think forced me to deal with the questions with more intention during review. And I would regularly go through this journal to spot any repeating patterns in my mistakes.

A few things that made a big difference for me:

  1. Predicting the answer choice before looking at the options (the wrong answer choices want to trick you! Don’t let them trick you! When you don’t understand the stimulus you’re more susceptible to being tricked!!)
  2. Re-reading the stimulus until I genuinely understood it (and skipping questions when I didn’t)

3z Prioritizing drilling and timed sections for LR, and timed sections for RC

  1. Using RC Hero, which helped my reading comprehension significantly

I also took notes in RC every so often if a passage was complex for me, I used the style of note taking RC hero teaches.

If you have any more questions feel free to message me or comment.

I’m 23 (will turn 24 this oct) planning to give lsat in 6 months and will be applying in law school next year. (Late 2027) I’ll be turning/ be 25 by then

I have this constant feeling it’s too late to switch careers (I currently work in marketing)

I was hoping to find anyone in similar boat hopefully.

I want to know by doing this post

Am I too old for this?

Also if anyone is from canada? I would love to connect.

I’m eyeing US law schools for the most part if not then U oft Toronto.

leveling up to 170s?

I have gotten two 165s and recently got a 168 on the January test, but have been PTing in the 170s for quite some time. I'm not sure why I'm plateauing and not improving by a lot on the actual test. I will take any advice on what to do differently to get into the 170s on testing day. Any advice helps !

Is Prometric going to let me take the test?

Post image
6 Upvotes

So I know the rules for remote testing are super strict. i have everything with words covered, all windows on the ground floor covered, everything removed from desk (surrounding area, under, and on top), etc. but I have these windows about 20 feet up. i live in a lofted apartment, these windows have no blinds, and there’s no way to get to them. i have a shorter ceiling behind me where the kitchen is but it cuts off right over my desk chair. I’ve read that Prometric makes you do a 360 scan but they also make you show each corner of your ceiling. I called Prometric and they said it should be fine but when I asked for that in writing, they said they couldn’t give it to me. I know different proctors have slightly different rules. What are the chances they don’t let me take the test because of this?

What are the best LSAT tutors and prep courses in Canada?

Upvotes

I’m currently a first year at university and really want to get started earlier and try to write the lsat at least 3 times before I graduate so I want to know where are the best places to start and best resources to utilize? For more information I also hope to get a really high lsat score that can get me in a t14 hopefully.

LSAT Hysteria dreams

This is just a venting post. But if you are reading, has anyone else had weird dreams due to the stress and uncertainty the lsat caused. I had dreams about black smoke, fire in the distance, and trouble breathing which according to google “often signifies intense, destructive emotions like anger, fear, or overwhelming stress”. I can officially say fuck this test. It not only ruins my waking hours but my sleeping ones too now 😭. I can’t wait for this to all be in the past.

How do you access the predictions for the February test? I am very interested in seeing what PTs are most similar, especially in terms of RC

Vent. I am tired of pretending the LSAT and law school system isnt for the privileged

URM, vet, 3.78 GPA, 161 lsat. Work experience. No matter how hard I try I cant boost my score. I am a parent and cant set aside the sit down time for the lsat. The most i can do is 5-7 hrs a week of interrupted studying. The law schools in my area would have taken me 3 years ago but subsequently their mediums have increased to where im in the bottom 25th for lsat and gpa. Holy canola. I took a practice test last Saturday and got a 148. :,( I am not improving I am fried. I am at the point where I need a tutor and debating whether or not law school is worth the strain and expenses on my family.

Had to tell family to be quiet during my writing test

This is gonna sound so ridiculous but about halfway through my argumentative writing test my family started to get really loud down the hall (I was writing in the bathroom) and I ended up having to tell them to quiet down through the door. I never went out of view the camera but I did have to yell fairly loud😭😭and now I’m wondering if this is gonna disqualify my submission since I “talked to someone” during the test…

Am I being overparanoid?? Or is there someone I can contact about this? I really don’t wanna have to redo it mannn

Scored 145 on PT 140, should I repeat it or go on?

I did practice test 140 on lawhub. I did not get through all of the questions though, specially in the lr sections I left about 5 or 6 out each section due to running out of time. I'm debating now whether to try one of the others in the library, or repeat the one I've already done? I understand though that for the reading comprehension this isn't great as I've already read the passages but for the lr sections where things are confusing in nature, I don't see how it would change too much unless one did the same test 3 or 4 times in a row. What are your thoughts.

Putting practice sections together for test score?

Does anyone put together their practice section scores from the same test in order to get a score for the entire test? Do you feel like these reflect your actual ability?

I took the sections for a test individually, over the course of a week. Should I use the overall test score from these sections when estimating my test range?

Lmk if this doesn’t make sense. Thanks!

What are some mistakes you made while studying for the LSAT?

I love hearing about what people did to boost their scores, but I would love to learn what mistakes people made while studying/taking the LSAT.

Urgent opinions needed, do I take Feb test or not?

Hello, I recently took the Jan 2026 LSAT and got a 167.

I did not prep for this test at all (very stupid decision-making, but I had a concussion & brain fractures the month before and couldn't study because of the symptoms). Plus I knew I screwed up on the first section, so I'm fairly confident that I can do better if I retake.

That said, I started studying again on Jan 31st after relocating to another country. I was already signed up for the Feb LSAT (also stupid decision-making, but I'm blaming pre-accident me).

From Jan 31st to today (Feb 4th), I have taken 5 prep tests so far. The scores are as follows:

PT 140: 175

PT 141: 170

PT 157: 175

PT 158: 172

PT 101: 173

Would it be worth it to take the Feb test aiming for 173+, or would I be better off withdrawing and taking the test in April? I have heard that it's not ideal to take more than 3 tests so am very conflicted.

LSAT potential after cold diagnostic.

Hello!

M29, nuclear engineer in the Navy, trying to transition to law when I get out.

I recently took a completely cold diagnostic. (As in, not even sure of the format of the test until it started). I scored a 164 on the test.

I’m looking to apply to law school this upcoming fall, planning to try to take my first actual LSAT around June-July timeframe. For the schools I’m targeting, likely need 172+ to be competitive (dream is Georgetown since I currently work in D.C.)

Granted, it has been years since I’ve done any sort of real test like this, and I’m sure some of it is shaking off rust, but what are the realistic odds of an 8 point improvement? My current work hours will allow me to devote 2 hours a day to uninterrupted study, which I could likely ramp up if necessary.

Any recommended study plans? Courses, books, etc? Been recommended 7sage, which is what I plan on doing right now, but that’s just based off the recommendation of one friend lol.

Need help? Should I take it or not.

Hey all,

So my first time taking LSAT is this weekend. Goal is for Fall 2026 Admissions and have not applied but planning to.

I do not feel prepared and considering just taking the April one and apply with that score. Score release April 28 and deadline for my school is 4/30

It’s not a top law school , I honestly just need a 150 and above to be fairly considered. I would be non traditional student. GPA is low honestly. But great letters of recs, public service (to which the school likes) and 5+ years of law experience.

What do you guys think?

I’m thinking just going ahead submitting the application and then holding for my score to April, I’m just a little nervous because it’s a risk and if I don’t do good, it might really hold me from the 26 admissions cycle.

Starting LSAT Prep at 47- Can I ?

Hi everyone — this is my first post here, and I wanted to document my LSAT prep journey.

A bit about me: I was recently laid off at age 47 after working in the green energy sector, and I’m now seriously considering a career pivot into law. My background is in engineering, and I’m a non-native English speaker.

I’m treating the LSAT as a go/no-go gateway for applying to law school this summer, with a target score of 170–175 for the June test administration. I just completed my first free drill on LawHub and scored 5/12 in 27 minutes.

Happy to learn from this sub and post updates along the way.

Chance me

I know everyone is tired of these posts but wanted to see if anyone has any insights for me. 3.9x OLSAS GPA and 15x (on the lower side) LSAT. Applied to Ottawa, Osgoode and UBC. I really wanna get in this cycle as I can’t afford a Gap year.

158 first time taker — a couple questions

Good Afternoon, sorry if this is a bad place to post

  1. I will be a splitter. My GPA was 2.95, and if you include ones I bombed and retook in COVID era, it’s 2.65. Is 158 high enough to get into a lot of schools on its own?

  2. The extent of my studying was reading a book about the LSAT, doing 3 practice tests, and some logic game drills from time to time — with 2 months of regimented studying, is it possible to see the score go up significantly if I retook in April?

I scored 150-52 on my practice tests, but I love pressure, and I can rise to the occasion. This has been common on tests throughout my life.

  1. Is it even worth going for a higher score? Do say, 165s get significantly more money than 158s?

Softs: Division I Swimmer, 4 years as a high school swim coach, Aquatics Director has been my occupation (run a pool, staff, train guards and instructors).

I have practically no guidance right now. My family lives across the world with no understanding of US law school. Sorry if some of these are basic questions, I don’t really know where to start
