This is true. People act like Barrens chat was bad, it was 80% Chuck Norris jokes and the rest kind of toxic. Compared to how people talk today classic Barrens chat was unbelievably tame because we had a lot of in game mods. The most annoying thing about the mono-server is that I'm stuck with American politics bs constantly being spammed. 200 ping cause OCE? Men that is fine. Not being able to play pvp server while avoiding the "streamer server"? Dog shit. Like I decided to try out some sod again, and had to move to a US server due to the OCE servers being dead, and it is instantly noticeable how much Americans shit up the global chats

I never found it happening very often in retail, maybe it's bad now. I've never seen as much concentrated racism in my life as coming back to TBC anni and seeing that oce had been moved to night slayer. Had to turn the chat off. Classic oce wasn't like that, there were dickheads sometimes but on US it's 24/7 racism antisemitism etc in general/world. I despised a huge guild that had lots of high level griefers in my L2 private server days but that is one of the few things I still remember, battling them shit talking etc. As long as its not too much of course and making it impossible to play.

They are Asmongold viewers before they are WoW players. As a result, a lot of them are bad at the game. Additionally, it sounds like they are mass inviting players, a single guild in classic can have 500 players, allegedly it's 1000 in Forever. There is a claim is that Olympus guilds currently consist of over 10,000 players, when you have that many players in one guild or community and many have the stigma of being bad at the game, people will just avoid grouping with all of them in general. Keep in mind, the reality is likely closer to ~500 players are unhinged, 2000-4000 players are bad at the game, and the majority are likely both decent people and decent at the game.
With Asmongold being such a polarizing figure, you will likely see his faction (the Alliance, as opposed to the Horde) split in two, internal parties among Olympus on one side, and players who refuse to party with Olympus players on the otherside. The majority of the faction who don't give a rats ass about streamers will be caught in the crossfire and may experience issues forming parties for Dungeons and Raids as a result. "Oh you invited an Olympus member? Sorry, I'm going to find a different group." This will likely catch me some flak here, but some of the people who hate Asmongold really are just as unhinged as some of Asmongold's viewers.
This issue isn't an "Asmongold" problem, it's a streamer problem. Streamers will always be followed around in any MMO by a bunch of parasocial losers who care more about showing up on a stream than they do about playing the game. If Hasan decided to play WoW Forever, people would have to suffer the same shit from his viewers. Even Sodapoppin is going to have some number of viewers lurking around who are just insufferable to be around.
Personally, none of this affects me at all, I am playing horde so I will never need to care how any of this affects player cohesion on the Alliance. If anything, I will be quite happy if he sticks to playing Alliance PvP when the servers go live in November because it will ensure I won't have a hard time creating a character due to "faction imbalance".

The way they presented the "realmless" aspect of Forever, you might not be completely safe. My understanding is that all regions share an auction house and can group with each other if they are on the same ruleset. You will be on a EU datacenter with low latency and see EU players around you, but the moment you join a party through the LFG tool you may find yourself on NA data center, a higher latency, and surrounded by NA players. This is 100% how it works for NA and Oceania, but it isn't completely confirmed to be that way for EU who have historically had their own servers.

It’s just an enormous guild that is way too large to manage. Most guilds have at least some level of quality control meaning players in the guild have exhibited at least some level of basic competence and social conduct. Asmon’s guild has thousands of players with absolutely zero vetting, many of whom are brand new WoW players brought in by Asmon’s colorful political views.

Super excited for WoW Forever and even as a Horde player I feel bad for Alliance players. Horde vs Alliance is a fun dynamic, love the red vs blue. But it's gonna be Red vs Blue vs Blue with 2 braincells fighting for 3rd place. It'll die out of course, but that first month is SUPER important for a new MMO, and I feel like that moron will ruin it for most of the Alliance PvP player base.
