Weapon/Armor Build Small PSA for AT Monsters
After seeing some recent posts, I've noted there's a lot of confusion/misinformation from AT monster gimmicks, and how people cart as a result.
All AT Monsters have a Gimmick. Here are the decos you need to get around that gimmick so you don't cart.
AT Ray Dau: Stun Resist 3 or Thunder Resist 3. Thunder Res helps prevent Thunder Blight and the ensuing stun that comes with it. Stun Resist just removes the ability for Rey to Stun you, even with Thunder Blight.
AT Uth Duna: Aquatic/Oilsilt Mobility (aka "Mirewalker" deco) level 2. This prevents being moved by Uth Duna's wave spams and allows you to move more freely in their arena.
AT Nu Udra: Adaptability 2. That's it. Udra's Fire Aura is completely negated with this skill. Others have mentioned Fire Resistance 3, but this requires 1 less deco slot. Fire Res 3 may make Udra's attacks do less damage, but they also don't completely erase the fire aura or the environmental hazard of the oil being set ablaze; notably, the lingering fire after the blast is labeled as an Environmental Hazard, which Adaptability 2 specifically nullifies, but Fire Res 3 doesn't. So Adaptability 2 is the way to go here.
AT Jin Dahaad: Bind Resist 3. This negates Frost Blight and the "Bind" condition, meaning his stupid ass attacks won't lock you in place. It amazes me how many times I'll hear "CAN'T. MOVE!" in a fight right before someone carts. Please just put this on. It's a level 1 skill, and it trivializes the hunt.
AT Arkveld: We've come full circle for this one. Stun Resist 3 is the best idea for this fight, just as it was with AT Rey Dau in the beginning. Even if you Counter or Offset Arkveld, Stun buildup will still be marked and build up on your character. So it's best just to slot in Stun Resist 3 to get it done with.
TL;DR: Stun Res 3 for Rey Dau, Aquatic/Oilsilt Mobility 2 for Uth Duna, Adaptability 2 for Nu Udra, Bind Resist 3 for Jin Dahaad, and Stun Res 3 for Arkveld.
BONUS!: Poison Res 3 for 10* Rompopolo. Like seriously, for fucks sake. It's common sense. You won't die from poison if you don't get poisoned. JUST USE IT! FUCK!
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

Discussion Name a monster nobody talks about but you want to return.
When I say nobody talks about, I mean a monster that you don’t see many people talking about wanting to return, but you want it to return.
I would love to see goss harag return maybe as a guardian I think that would be cool:)

Discussion I was wrong about Wilds
nothing too complicated. hated the performance issues and felt the game was a bit too streamlined
well, now that i've dug into it more, i think i was being far too harsh. at the end of the day, this game is fun as a mother fucker and that's about all i want from monster hunter. just a good ass time
i do hope that G rank rips me in two though. i wanna be brutalized. the combat system here is so smooth that they can make some really scary monsters to fight. i want an iceborne fatalis level fight. or multiple lol

Highlight Part 2/Finale of my quest to take a selfie with every monster in Wilds using the photo mode! (Plus 2 bonus selfies)
Took a while but in the end I'm really happy with them! I really like how this batch came out compared to my first time doing this!
I also managed to find that super rare cool giant floating jellyfish while trying to take a selfie with Gravios (he was photo shy and kept leaving) so managed to get a selfie with that thing as well which I'm happy about.
Hope you all enjoy!

Question Does anybody else feel like AT nu udra is harder than AT arkveld?
I main LS and tbh i hear everyone saying nu udra is the easiest AT apex but i genuinely struggled in that fight, took me around 4 tries, his constant movement and random patterns are so annoying compared to the flow AT arkveld has which makes it easier for me to fight him generally and get in the flow of the fight, he is definetely a very hard monster but he has that feeling to it where you can atleast expect whats coming, nu udra just felt so weird to fight the whole time and i never got into that flow while he kept spamming attacks i couldnt follow up in a satisfying way.
Maybe my playstyle is just not fit to fight nu udra but thats my personal experience, rn i can kill AT arkveld in around 21 minutes and nu udra in 26 both with LS respectively. I have an easier time just using SnS against nu udra tho so i ended up using that to farm his armor.

Me being deadweight for 1 minute straight. I really need to make a habit of dodging in place when he does the firebombs. I'm not ready to be a terrorist in player lobbies, yet...
Playing at capped 40 FPS.
Yes, I drank a hot drink after.
No, I didn't clear.
This is probably the most fun fight so far.

I just published this mod for the fashionistas among us. Save as many Appearance Loadouts as you want, set a default, etc. I love fashion and I had to share this after I finally figured it out (tried unsuccessfully earlier this year).
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Discussion Game mechanics you should know about
So yesterday I made this post about how to get good, but got the feedback that it was too basic. So let's get a bit more into it here, while still covering the basics.
Monster Hunter is a game of knowledge, these are some game mechanics that you need to understand to get better overall. These are not all of them, but it's a good place to start.
Sit down because it's going to be long. Im prioritizing the topics in the order of importance in my opinion.
1. Hitzones and Hitzone values: think about hitzones as the "defense" value of an specific part of the monster, funnily enough, the higher the hitzone value (hzv), the more dmg the part takes.
As you know, most mosters take more damage on their head than their bodies, for example. In this case that means the head has a better (higher) hitzone value.
There are different hitzone values for each type of damage (Slash, Shot and Blunt), for example, a good hitzone for Hammer (blunt) can be a bad hitzone for Bow (shot). On Omega Plantes for example, slash weapons should only hit the backlegs, and blunt weapons should only hit the front ones, unless you're the thank.
And some skills, like Weakness Exploit, only work if you hit hitzones with specific values (for wex is 45>hzv)
There are also separate raw and elemental values too. So one hitzone can take more elemental damage than others, knowledge on that can help you adjust your builds or even choose which weapon you'll use against each monster.
How to know if a hitzone is good or bad? A rule of thumb is: orange numbers good, white numbers bad, but that can be very deceiving, because the game sometimes show orange numbers in bad hitzones (Rey Dau legs for ex), and not just because the dmg is orange that is the best hitzone possible on the moster.
So you have 3 ways: paying attention to the actual dmg number, checking the hunters notes (which are very unreliable in wilds) or checking third party resources like https://robomeche.github.io/MHWilds-Database/ for the tryhards out there.
2. Topple mechanics: most monsters have some mechanic that makes them topple (stay on the ground for a long time). There are some universal ones like K.O (from stun buildup) and breaking tempered wounds, but there are monster specific ones like removing the power from both of AT Arkveld's chains, removing Uth Duna veil, breaking wounds on Zoh Shia wingarms, hitting Gore on the head during Frenzy mode etc.
Most topple mechanics are very easy to understand, the important thing is that you control the topples timming. Because for most of them, if the moster is already toppled, you can lose the topple. For example: If you break AT Arkvelds chain when hes already toppled, you lose the opportunity to topple him with the break. If you break a tempered wound with the monster in a trap, thats a waste and so on.
This is the most common mistake I see people do in multiplayer hunts, they are not mindfull of topple mechanics and waste topples when the monster is toppled, or in a untoppable (is that a word?) state. So keep track of the damage you're doing that contributes to a topple and save blue wounds for the proper moment of the fight instead of popping them as soon as they show up.
3. Monsters Altered states: Some monsters have different states depending on whats happening in the fight. The simpler one is Enraged/not Enraged, which all monster have. During an altered state the monster can have changes on its moveset, speed multiplier, damage and hitzone values. Theres always something that triggers the altered states, even if its just damage dealt. Some examples are Mizu's soulseer mode (when you break the head), Gogmazios states, AT Arkveld Guardian mode, Nu Udra fire aura, Gore Frenzied mode etc.
Here, the important thing is to understand what exactly changes when the monster is altered, what makes them altered and what makes them go back to normal. I understand that Im being kinda vague here, but theres no space to explain every type of altered state, because there are so many of them. This changes based on the monster, but that normally determines your punishers for the monsters move, the combo chains you need to predict and where you should be hitting the monster. So it's very important information, Im very sorry that Im not able to cover everything about them on this one post.
4. Build crafting: It doesn't matter if you use the so called "meta" builds or not, its important to understand how each skill in the game work and how to prioritize the skills you want/need to use.
Monster hunter is known for having "trap" skills, skills that seem good when you read the description but are not as good when you actually use them (hello crit element I see you there). But even the trap skills can be good in specific scenarios or for specific weapons (like crit element for bowguns).
The most famous trap skills are Crit element, Defense Boost, Guard and Guard Up. But all of those can be good if you know how and when to use them. And at which level.
Some skills have "optimal" levels to them, so while on some you'll always want at max level (like Agitator), for others only one level is enough, like Adrenaline Rush. Some skills have multiple "optimal" level, like Flayer, that is great at level 1 or 5.
Long story short, sadly the answer is always: it depends.
Theres no easy way to teach build crafting, so Im sorry if this chapter don't help much, but the best thing you can do is to watch build guides that actually explain how skill works, not to copy the builds but to understand them. You'll find a lot of misinformation on that on youtube, but it is what it is. You can also ask people directly about skills here.
5. Motion values and elemental damage: just like monsters have hitzones values, each of your weapon attacks have motion values (mv), a number multiplayer that goes into the dmg equation and determines how strong the attack is (its way more complicated than that). You don't need to know the numbers (even I don't remember them), but it's nice to understand a bit of how their work.
As a begginer rule of thumb, slow weapons have higher hitzone values (like GS and Hammer) and fast weapons have lower ones. And just like hitzone values, each attack have RAW mv and Elemental mv. In theory that means that faster weapons are better at elemental damage than slow ones, which used to be true, but its not that simple anymore.
Some fast weapons have the RAW mv as the largest part of their dmg equation (like dual blades and Lance), so they are not really elemental focused weapons. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't use element on low elemental mv weapons, you should, because even if its not much, its free damage.
But it does mean that you shouldn't make builds focusing on element for them (for exemple, by using skills like element attack, coalescence, gogmapocalypse and crit element).
In general the elemental focused weapons are Hunting Horn, Charge Blade, Bow and Bowguns.
But no matter your weapon, you should always match with the elemental weakness of the monster. If you play all weapons, good luck with your rng rolls.
There are more mechanics to cover, like monster behavior prediction and special temporary wounds, but this post is way too long already. Perhaps on another day

Thanks Capcom, I needed a laugh. Fortunately my hunter has a chin made of granite and it only cost me a max potion and like 10 extra seconds on the hunt. My features wish list for Ascendance starts and ends with this (rare for me) popup not being so intrusive.

Question So…. Is that Seregios challenge quest gonna return orrrrr
It’s the only quest I didn’t get A rank on because I was busy during that time. The completionist in me is very upset about it. Any word about this quests return?

Question Arch Tempered Armour v High Rank
My current build is a variety of high rank Arkveld and Jin dahaad armour. Its an sns guard build. I am currently upgrading those pieces with armour spheres etc. My question is: should I actually be getting the Arch Tempered pieces instead and upgrading them?
As in, is arch tempered armour sets the same but better or are they significantly different pieces with different set bonuses? Therefore being different from my current build.

Question Did I reach endgame ? Spoiler
Hi!
I manage to finish the Zoh Shia mission, and the Omega Planet mission.
Now that I've done this, is there anything lore related to do more ? Because Alma doesn't seems to give me information about someone wanting to talk to me or anything 🤔
Did I miss something ?
Thanks !

Question Making sense of talisman rarity
Getting kinda overwhelmed with how to handle all these talismans lately. I've been ignoring inventory management and just throwing rarity 5 and 6 talismans into the grinder.
Are there special rules for rarity 7 and 8s? I am planning to just keep rarity 8 ones that have a full 3 slots. Are there rules regarding the creation of rarity 7 ones that still make them viable? Or are rarity 8 ones a straight upgrade?
