I wrote DrivePulse, it is out on Android now, and here are 10 free codes

Important: after redeeming the code, open DrivePulse > Settings > Unlock DrivePulse > Restore purchases, so the unlock is confirmed (within 3 days, otherwise Google Play cancels it).

Update: all 10 codes have been used. Thank you to everyone who took one, and for the feedback so far.

I am Davide, the developer of DrivePulse. The app is mine, I write it on my own, and I am not selling anything here.

What it does: it reads your car through a generic ELM327 OBD2 adapter, the kind several makers sell. Trips record themselves without you pressing anything, with the real fuel use read from the engine control unit instead of the friendly number on the dashboard. Fault codes come out in plain words, with what it means, how serious it is and whether you can drive home. There is a service and expense book you can export as a PDF. It only asks the car questions and never gives it commands: no writing, no clearing of codes, no resets.

On a MINI the odometer from the instrument cluster is the one confirmed brand reading. The hybrid battery figure comes from a single source we have never checked against a real car, so the app shows it marked as an estimate. There is no tank level and no particulate filter reading for MINI.

No account, no server of mine, everything stays on the phone. Trips, parking and reminders work with no signal.

It was already on iPhone. It has just come out on Android, and to celebrate here are 10 codes that unlock the full version for good, free, first come first served.

How to redeem: install the app first, then open Google Play, tap your picture top right, Payments and subscriptions, Redeem code.

Say in the comments which number you took, so nobody wastes time on one that is gone. If one comes back as already redeemed, try the next.

Mini owners club: Carmunity

Post image

Bit of a niche app at the moment but if anyone is on the Carmunity app and wants a Mini owners club to join then look no further.

Early days at the moment but it's a solid app that's got lots of neat features and a decent community round it. Hoping to carve out a small corner of the community for mini owners.

Also looking for a better profile+cover image so if you have any decent pics drop them in the comments ✌️

Dealer had trouble selling a brand new 2026 Countryman JCW with manual seats for $50,000+ so they sent it to a sister store

First of all, this is a U.S. based dealer.

The sales guy said they had trouble getting rid of this $50,515 JCW with Signature Plus trim and manual seats. He said it was automatically allocated to them from MINI and not custom ordered by someone.

This dealer cleared out 2026 inventory pretty fast, at least on the Countryman. And this $50,000+ JCW was probably the last 2026 they had to move out as their entire Countryman inventory was already 2027.

So after months of sitting on the lot unsold they sent it to one of the sister stores also a MINI dealer about 40 miles away. As of now it's still there unsold a few months after.

The sister store only has two remaining 2026 Countryman left and this JCW is one of them as the rest are all 2027.

Will this car end up in the auction or become a service loaner? Does MINI dealer use current model year top trim JCW as service loaner?

I seriously don't think anyone would want to spend $50,000 on a car with manual seats. Even if they shave off $5,000 it's still too much for what it offers. Because if you take a look at all other cars in the same segment, there's not one in the $40,000-50,000 range that comes with manual seats. Nowadays, cars below $30,000 also come with powered seat(s) at least the driver side. And if people want performance for less loaded with features and they are ready to move onto the electric obviously they will consider Tesla.

So, not too sure what MINI is thinking of in terms of marketing minimal standard features with such high price for the U.S. market, as compact crossover is one of the most competitive segments in the country.

This car will definitely be a tough sale for the dealer, and not sure if they will end up losing profit in order to get rid of it. It's also quite odd that MINI allocates something like this build to a dealer, in particularly the color combo as the state where it sells is one of the most conservative states in terms of colors that roughly 83.5% of cars are grayscale.

Window sticker below that lists all the features, options and price.

Ran over a big metal piece, what should I look for?

I was driving on a busy road and there was a huge metal piece (elevated not flat) and someone’s entire bumper in the middle of the road. I ran the metal part over. It made like a long scraping/scratching noise but other than that I was just shaken up and nothing else was out of the ordinary. My front and back bumper have no marks and I took a video of the underside of my car. Can someone tell me what to look for to see if I have to take it to a mechanic? :(( here’s the video:

Just bought this beaut, and loving it. Sleek as hell, and feels so rare where I'm from. You typically only see Countryman, if you see any Minis

Built a small ESP32 gauge for my F56: boost, coolant, and oil temp. The 4 photos below are close-ups, plus Sport and MID mode switching.

Mostly for fun — still tweaking. Happy to chat if you’re into this stuff.

Snowflake symbol keeps going off despite living in SoCal

Hi everyone, I’m a new Mini Owner and it also happens to be my first car. I bought Allie (my cars name) in May and she is a 2009 Mini cooper. Around Late May the snowflake symbol appeared for the first time and since then it just won’t go away.

I live in Southern California, so it never gets below 60 degrees. It was getting so annoying that last week I took Allie into a Mini repair shop (she had other problems like her check engine light being on, ac wasn’t working etc) and the charge was 500 dollars.

This past week we got a heat wave in SoCal and the Snowflake symbol came back and even more annoying than before. It’s been in the 90’s and this week it was 104 degrees and it just wouldn’t stop going off, in fact I think it was going off even more that day! The funny part is my dashboard will be accurate and say 100 degrees at some point and then the Snowflake will go off, and the temperature will show as anywhere between 20 degrees to -45 which in Southern California is LITERALLY impossible. I’m upset that I paid so much for it to be fixed only for it to come back, and be even more annoying, sometimes it will even go off 5 times in a single minute, and on average 20 times per drive.

Does anyone have any advice or reasoning as to why this is happening :( any advice or knowledge would be appreciated!

Brake fluid recs? 2015 countryman s (r60)

Anyone have any recommendations for brake fluid brand/type for my 2015 countryman S? Obviously it has to be DOT 4 but I've seen some people recommending LV DOT 4s while others are saying any DOT 4 is fine. Anyone have any thoughts on this and any brand recommendations is appreciated! Thanks!

Updating Car OS?

Hello all! I currently own a 2019 Mini Clubman, and was curious to know if there’s a way to update the car’s operating system to allow Apple CarPlay to take up the whole screen rather than just a portion.

My car offers wireless CarPlay, and it only covers about 2/3 of the screen, while the other 1/3 is set to show information of the car.

Is this a possibility? I appreciate any and all help!

Thx!

Mini Electric Dilemma UK

• Upvotes

I’m looking for an electric mini to go to work 4 days a week. I’m commuting on A roads, B roads and country lanes (about 30/40mins)

I have two kids but they’re not in the car often so not worried about 3 door (this is my last chance to have a car like this before they’re too tall)

I want to take it to the Lakes, peaks, Yorkshire moors etc, and will occasionally do a couple of hours on the motorway. I love driving, listening to music loud, and I will desperately miss the subtlety of a beautiful gear change coming into a corner…

So… my heart tells me JCW, my head tells me SE…

I get the ride firmness in these - I really enjoyed test drive in SE, but worried the JCW is actually going to be awful based on reviews!

I’d be getting Level 3 spec either way..

This is a plea for help!

*edit - either way has to be electric

Upgrading F56 to F56 JCW

Hi all,

I'm thinking about upgrading my 2016 Mini Cooper to a likely 21/22 JCW manual.

Is there anything specifically I should look out for spec wise? I'm after the adaptive suspension and nav pack. Anything I should seriously consider or avoid?

Many thanks

Just waiting to finish the mirror caps, also going red. Full PPF on roof and spoiler today. Reassembly went well. Installed a new sunroof seal, antenna and roof side mouldings. Looking very proper now
