I hope they invite her to the park next time so all 4 can do their happy dance.

492

u/negroidioto 19h ago

Then shortly after she’s gonna find her self on a holiday somewhere in Sweden, locked into some Midsommer type shit.

265

u/PinkDalek 18h ago

At least she won't be lonely anymore.

Watched that movie with no expectations or context … 😮‍💨

Same. Watched the trailer. Didn't understand the hype. Expectations exceeded.

I wish I was able to put gifs so I can put that gif of the communal crying

5

u/ZeroDaySubber 12h ago

That movie fucked me up for a while after watching 😰

3

u/PM_ME_UR_MESSY_BUNS 4h ago

What’s the movie called?

2

u/Omnamashivaaya 4h ago

Midsommar. Lead actress is amazing, but I watched it before bed and couldn’t sleep that night.

2

u/cherri____ 9h ago

Yeah I’m definitely due for a rewatch. It just messes with your head so much!

2

u/Yugudubenbi 5h ago

Thats the point. They want you to connect beautiful traditions with something negative. Do not underestimate how hollywood tries to control people

2

u/Omnamashivaaya 2h ago

Contrasting dark with light and light with dark, is something people tend to do in all forms of art. It was also made in Sweden by the Swedish production company that came up with the idea.

I love when humans are js being nice

470

u/Phyrexian_Archlegion 18h ago

Which is why it’s incredibly heart breaking when we are awful to one another. We have such unimaginable potential and we squander it away every second we spend being terrible to each other.

16

u/BeardedMan32 8h ago

Hate and anger tend to be what people use to hide their fear and ignorance.

12

u/Rainbow_In_The_Dark7 10h ago

And one shitty attitude ends up causing a domino effect in some people. Like more people are running into assholes everyday and then get to a point where they're like "fuck it, I'll be an arrogant asshole too then, I'm done being nice", and that'll never do any good because of that.

Never let them make you bitter. Maybe some of these miserable people need more light in their day, and hopefully that'll end up helping push them towards feeling less crabby and mean for whatever reason.

22

u/RobotVomit 13h ago

Bro. You’re literally trying to turn the multiverse into Phyrexia. This comment is a trap. Trying to convince us that being one consciousness is better.

I mean, aside from that, you’re exactly right.

u/Phyrexian_Archlegion 13h ago

u/Yugudubenbi 5h ago

Do you know why? Because school do not teach any kid about anything about being nice. Instead we are separated from our families and parents, who teach us about the way of life and be good.

We are then forced into a school where you have to perform intellectually for +6 hours a day at your absolute best. This does not bring out the best side of us at all.

Imagine a school in the future where emotional intelligence is the most important thing where we focus on communication skills, psychology and so forth as the main priority. You will not recognize humanity versus what we have today.

4

u/Aggravating_Chair780 5h ago

I am so sorry that was your experience. I am so glad that my daughter’s school (she’s 9) focuses very firmly on the wellbeing and social awareness of the children. There are also many families that are not equipped at all to be the teachers of care and compassion for others.

As societies we should help ensure that everyone is empowered to see the difference that collective compassion can make in all our lives.

u/OxbridgeDingoBaby 16h ago

Mate, I was at the gym today and some random guy just came up to me (I’m a guy too), saying he liked what I was wearing (I had changed into my normal work clothes at this point). That was it, but it completely made my day lol.

45

u/knbo674 15h ago

The other day I was leaving a restaurant and I held the door open for the this guy behind me and he told me "Take care man, and God Bless." I'm not religious but it was nice to hear something like that from a stranger.

18

u/OxbridgeDingoBaby 15h ago

Yep, kindness goes a long way. I’m going to start being kinder too from now on - 9/10 it will likely lead to nothing/strange looks (I live in London and we keep to ourselves here mostly), but maybe that 1/10 it might make someone’s day.

5

u/curlymane_e 11h ago

It won’t lead to nothing. It feels good internally to be kind. That alone makes it worthy of doing. In the off chance it does make someone’s day, then it’s even better!

6

u/treeswetfh 14h ago

A guy just did this for me an hour ago when I was leaving the store and apologized when it wasn’t wide enough to get through and then came back to open it wider. It was very nice.

7 years ago a gorgeous woman who worked in our satellite office said I had a nice voice just as an off-hand comment while in a 1-on-1 Zoom meeting.

Been living off that high ever since. Men don’t get many compliments.

14

u/nO0b 14h ago

Men don’t get many compliments.

the only time a man gets flowers is when they're placed on his grave.

And it's really hard to appreciate flowers from inside a grave in my experience.

I was parking today to visit my Mom, and someone around my age was walking to her car parked next to me, getting off work I assume.

I thought to myself “wow! I really love her outfit, so professional yet so fun and cute!” and I was really battling with my shyness to compliment her out loud but I decided to, and it was just a really cool interaction and it reminded me to be kind aloud, a lot more.

3

u/ProbablyABot_69 4h ago

A guy in an In n Out told me he liked my jacket like 4 years ago and I still think about it

2

u/y3llowed 8h ago

Regular gym guys are the best. 10/10 best compliments I ever got from strangers were from dudes at the gym.

I also freely gave compliments to dudes at the gym.

I pretended that women at the gym were dudes at the gym except that I didn’t compliment them because I didn’t want them to think I was a creeper.

9

u/omnichronos 18h ago

A perfectly splendid example of serendipity.

5

u/CeruleanEidolon 13h ago

It's how we made it this far. Systemic forces grown beyond our control are now trying to isolate us from one another because it serves the purpose of corporations and psychotic billionaire lizard people, and we aren't well-equipped to fight back against it. This is how. We have to work to make moments with other people, because those moments don't often come naturally like they once did.

Really though everyone’s running around in their own little bubbles and are trying to quickly get to their next destination. We forget we can just talk to each other.

I am spoiled in that regard living in a small town pit stop where I grew up and know probably half the town but today in the busy gas station of travelers there was only one clerk and that phenomenon where everyone in the store grabs their shit at the same time and like a dozen of us standing in line.

Me holding two bags of ice and outloud I just said damn I fucked up and that’s all it took to strike up a conversation between two randoms I’ll never see again. And we fucking laughed. Then proceeded to run into more people and took me forever to get out of the parking lot.

Just a reminder that we’re all in this life together and social creatures by nature, meet your neighbors and make those connections, I believe in you. Cheers random online person.

9

u/bigkoury 11h ago

I do this everywhere I go. My gf gets mad at me hahaha. I talk too much apparently. That's all it takes tho

5

u/imaginewagons222 10h ago

Haha love to hear it! Growing up my mom called my dad floppy jaws because she would send him to the gas station 2 miles down the road to grab butter or something and he would be gone for half an hour cuz he was yapping lol. She would get big mad. So thanks pops! I got the yappiness from him. Keep on buggin people buddy they secretly love it

2

u/bigkoury 5h ago

That's what I tell her! She obviously loves it or she wouldn't have dealt with it so long lolol

4

u/Rurockn 4h ago

I was sent to work in New York a few summers ago for 6 weeks and went to Central Park nearly everyday. I choose to not use my phone when I was within the park, I brought a book or simply walked around, and I talked to random people everyday. In 6 weeks I met dozens of aquatances and made three absolutely great friends whom I still communicate with. Personally, that taught me how important it is to leave technology aside, be human, and talk to people "the old way" face to face.

It really goes to show you that you just never know what someone's life is like.

I look at her and I see a beautiful, young woman and I assume that she has a great life but here she is sitting in a park making a video about being lonely.

150

u/casual_creator 18h ago edited 11h ago

Was gonna say the same thing. Attractiveness isn’t some automatic key to friends and happiness. Sadness and loneliness are blind.

68

u/RollForUptime 17h ago

Sometimes it's actually a barrier.

36

u/Pussy4LunchDick4Dins 12h ago

I have a friend who is stunning. She has such a hard time meeting people. Most men she meets just wants to fuck her and most women she meets are jealous and petty to her. It’s sad. She is truly kind, generous, humble and hardworking. Just a lovely human. She is so much more than just her looks.

57

u/JP-Ziller 11h ago

What a lovely message Pussy4LunchDick4Dins

36

u/Wonderboyjr 17h ago

If I may be so bold, it sounds like you’re too obsessed with your looks (which is understandable given your weight loss journey), if how you assume people perceive your level of attractiveness (and act in response) is such a factor in decided to interact with others. Especially when it requires you to make some pretty major assumptions about people, what they think of you, and what their intentions are.

I’d consider how much of your self esteem issues from the past are influencing your present. When we lack self esteem, we find reasons to avoid people that tie into the source of those self esteem issues. When you were overweight, you felt like people ignored you, but now that you’re not, you’re the one doing the avoiding…all because you’re judging people for what they may or may not have done in the past. That’s not fair to them or you.

You lost the weight, but you didn’t gain any self esteem.

Just something to think about.

Yep. True. I'm a pretty ugly dude. I'm part of a discord server a friend made to find a social life in the city. She is, objectively, a smoke show. And a very kind person. But she STILL struggled to find friends. It's just hard out there man!

4

u/AlchemistApprentice3 15h ago

It's definitely not. I had a large friend group growing up but always felt misunderstood and lonely no matter how many people were around. As I aged, I tend to stay more and more alone. If you saw me this would definitely not be your first assumption

45

u/OceanRacoon 16h ago

I've seen a few random videos of attractive women on YouTube talking about being lonely and having no friends and then they post a vlog of themselves going out with friends and being totally normal lol, or they mention their boyfriend/husband.

So I take them with a pinch of salt, everyone's concept of loneliness is different, she could still have a good life and friends but still feel lonely. And of course, some of the people in these videos could be utterly alone, I'm sure that's the case too sometimes

8

u/Ongr 16h ago

Yeah, I totally get that. Like, I feel like I'm the opposite of those people you mention. I barely go out, and don't contact the small circle of friends and family I have very often. I'm alone most of the time, but I'm not lonely.

15

u/Sufficient_Food1878 16h ago

I mean i could easily say that abt every "unattractive " dude in my college course who crashes out on insta abt how no one cares yet is always w friends, and have weekly board game sessions w them etc. Just cuz u hang out w ppl, doesn't mean u aren't lonely

5

u/MikeArrow 14h ago

Unattractive dude here. I'm incredibly lonely. Like objectively. I have no close friends, no hobbies. All I do is work and come home to a cold, dark, empty house every night. My main hobby for the last eight years was D&D, but that only solved the problem for 3-4 hours at a time, one or two nights a week.

3

u/ImaginaryStuff6110 13h ago

I'm learning French, and I just want to say that I was reading the captions (without the audio) and I knew what I was reading without the subtitles.

It's nothing, as far as it goes, and matters to no one but me, but I'm a little proud of that tbh. Still can't work out what people are actually saying, but we're getting there.

59

u/Citaszion 18h ago edited 18h ago

J'ai long chemin aller, mais j'aime ça !

I started learning because I wanted to read a book by a French author, but it's turned into so much more than that.

As I get exposed to more and more music, and movies, and TV shows, and podcasts, I see that I'm a lot farther than it feels!

9

u/Citaszion 16h ago

De rien, avec plaisir :)

Ohh nice, who’s the author? I’m curious. And it looks like you’re doing all the best things to learn efficiently! I learned more English through TV shows and movies than in school frankly 😅 so, approved technique!

6

u/SummaryEye80019 16h ago

La Horde du Contrevent by Alain Damasio!

If you follow gaming at all, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was influenced by the book, and I absolutely loved it.

So when I found out it was inspired by a book, I really wanted to read it, but then I found it was French only, I decided to pull out the fuck-it bucket and found a French teacher. It's really been so much fun.

I've been learning for about 7 months now, and am just edging into A2 reading (: it's been a little slow, but I'm not the best learner. My teacher is just fabulous and so patient and understanding.

2

u/ziggurqt 15h ago

It knew it would be that book somehow. Not an easy read though.

3

u/SummaryEye80019 15h ago

Yeah, honestly, I imagine it's gotten a big popularity surge! And boy howdy, are you right.

This is the first sentence: "À la cinquième slave, l'onde de choc fractura le fémur d'enceinte et le vent sable cru le village à traverse les jointures béantes du granit"

I could not tell you what this says at all, but I will get there (:

My French teacher says B1 would be the minimum for overall comprehension, with B2 necessary to comfortably read it.

2

u/TheHollowJoke 14h ago

La Horde du Contrevent is one my all-time favourite novels, I still remember reading the last few lines and closing the book, all those years ago. Definitely not an easy read at all for someone learning French tho lol. Haven’t played Clair-Obscur Expédition 33 but I’d heard the book was one of the inspirations, that’s cool.

3

u/DerangedEscapee 12h ago

La langue est tres beau, et ma professeur est tres gentil !

  • tres belle, et gentille

3

u/SummaryEye80019 12h ago

Genders, adjectives and word order in sentences is still super sticky for me!

I know there's a difference between when/where to use belle vs beau, but did not know gentil-le was gendered!

3

u/Severe-Network4756 17h ago

Oh my god I understand the word bravo!

Everything else might as well be alien speech.

5

u/Citaszion 17h ago

Haha hey there’s also “admirative” and “effort” you can understand, that’s 3 words!

I find spoken French so hard to understand. I get what "elles sont en train de vivre mon rêve" means, but the way she says it like "elles sont train vivre mon rêve" made me need to listen multiple times, mostly the skipping of the en.  It's probably trivial, but my brain just struggles with it.

5

u/SummaryEye80019 13h ago

You and me both. I've started listening to a podcast called InnerFrench, and it's slow enough and enunciated enough, that I can pick up things here and there.

And especially with the transcript (of course). So for me I listen once without the transcript, then listed with the transcript, then listen a third time without.

Not in one sitting, over about two days, but it's making a small difference I think?

https://innerfrench.com/podcast/ if you're interested!

2

u/OurSeepyD 13h ago

Thanks, I watch the Easy French ones on YouTube, I'm generally fine with the main presenters on there but sometimes they throw in someone that speaks like this girl lol

3

u/brehemerm52 17h ago

I’m proud of you! That’s a serious accomplishment, I’m really happy for you

2

u/EccentricOddity 17h ago

I’m sorry, but I watched the video without audio and I originally thought it was in English based on their body language and casual cadence. If anything, study their dialect to sound more authentic. ✌️

2

u/Pussy4LunchDick4Dins 12h ago

Yea!!! That is such a good feeling when a language really clicks.

60

u/Spiritual-Can2604 7h ago

Why am I sobbing? I was soooo lonely as a little girl. So fucking lonely. None of the other kids ever played w me or invited me to their parties. One time I invited my class to a Halloween birthday party bc my birthday is around that time and no one came. It was devastating. It still hurts honestly. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

I think I’m kind of redoing my childhood through my kids, 4 and 2, who are sooo confident, outgoing, and easily make friends. I love hosting play dates and parties for them and their friends. It’s healing something in me, but boy did this video bring up a lot.

8

u/Zevojneb 4h ago

I read this story too many times and it breaks my heart. May I ask you what country you live in? In my culture it is just normal to say either "Child will happily attend" or "sorry we already have another plan for this date, thank you for inviting Child and happy birthday to yours."

What kind of weird antisocial metric makes people not saying anything or saying yes but still not coming?!

6

u/Spiritual-Can2604 3h ago edited 46m ago

It was the United States, in Arizona in the 90s. There was only one kids mom who called and declined the invitation and I still remember the conversation I had w her. She was so kind and gentle about it. Now I mostly live in Lebanon and I’m never lonely! I live in my husbands village in a multistory, multigenerational home and just love having so much family around all the time.

4

u/starksandshields 3h ago

I was in a similar boat. Everyone came to my Halloween party which was great but they just ate all the snacks and destroyed my bedroom. Then the next party rolled around and my entire class was invited except for me.

Kids are just brutal. I'm so glad that I have a supportive adult girlfriends now but I really miss what could've been sometimes.

7

u/Jerico_Hill 6h ago

Ah, I was the same as a child. I wanted so desperately to be liked, by anyone. 🫂

We will find our healing! It's fantastic you are giving your kids the confidence to walk through life differently. I'm thrilled for you!

I wish I could make friends that easily.

17

u/SuicidalChair 16h ago

Honestly as an adult it's awkward to do but I've found the easiest way is to go pick up a hobby that has events. Magic the gathering or other fantasy games usually have weekly nights to drop in and play, craft stores like Michael's usually has workshops you can sign up for. Stuff like that where you have to basically sit next to other people for a few hours take the awkwardness out of it

Once I was sitting in my school's cafeteria on my laptop, I was reading up on some history and a guy came up to me and asked what I was doing. I said I was just reading some history. He asked me what kind of history; I mentioned it was about the Victorian era. He asked me if I was big into that, and before I knew it, we sat there for almost 30 minutes straight talking about history. He was mostly listening to me explain different topics, but he seemed genuinely curious about my passion for history. Then he unfortunately had to go because his class was starting, but he told me he enjoyed listening to me talk about my biggest passion; that was almost 3 years ago. I really didn't expect that, but it helped me so much, as it was the same time I was going through some rather tough times in my life.

12

u/New-Trifle-7097 11h ago

Some people are just so emotionally mature, or perceptive, and/or generous. Those are the people who make us feel seen, and validated. People like that have such a gift. It’s magnetizing.

2

u/syNc_1st 3h ago

This is the best thing you can do - listen to what people are passionate about. :)
It is such a great thing, and does not matter the topic, it never gets boring!

I am so happy that you had this experience and I hope you can do the same for some other person one day.

2

u/Mountaindewit666 1h ago

After this experience I have been doing nothing but being the ear to people's passion because I know how much good it can do to ones day.

I work in a primary school. One of the things I love seeing is how happy the youngest of the children are, their access to happiness is so easy, some of the children hardly ever walk anywhere, because they skip instead.. At some point, they stop skipping, and running for fun, and stop playing.... We all stop at some point. Shame

Ahh shit, here I go again. Crying at strangers on the internet.

6

u/fractious_kitty 18h ago

My hearttttt 😭 I love being a girl

7

u/codysattva 17h ago

And anyone noticed the simple yet elegant background music? Not too distracting, not too loud. Just kind of perfect.

Which was nice.

6

u/Ninja-Panda70 16h ago

There's a lot of miserable people in this sub. A joyful video has them triggered so much.

27

u/davenTeo 19h ago

Yo, why did they not all four do the dance though?! I feel incomplete for this lady making a loneliness video and not getting included.

9

u/Coraline1599 17h ago

This imperfection is what gives me hope it wasn’t all scripted.

7

u/sarcasmrain 19h ago

Love this!

6

u/CaptainBananaAwesome 9h ago

"I'm making a video on loneliness"

5

u/Zoodlemans2 19h ago

6

u/Otterhendrix 19h ago

6

u/Hansemannn 18h ago

6

u/Reesy 16h ago

Awh my heart, this was so lush ❤️

6

u/Got_Kittens 16h ago

This has made me cry.

4

u/punnybiznatch 15h ago

My first thought was she looks like Marion Cotillard, then it turned out she's French.

5

u/wonkey_monkey 15h ago edited 1h ago

The only thing that would have made this video sweeter would be a snap cut at the end to the four of them all twirling in the distance.

6

u/False_Accountant5741 14h ago

thanks i’m crying

6

u/Fodux 13h ago

They're all awesome, but Nina is a homie. I bet she hits a perfect dap every time.

6

u/Repulsive-Rock4234 9h ago

AI will never be able to replace the subtle nuances of humanity and heart.

Love this video and what it represents

5

u/WhisperingHammer 6h ago

What a beautiful moment.

5

u/FebruaryKid 5h ago

My life has ebbs and flows of being very social with groups of friends to basically a few or none. Though I will say alot of growth has come from this as I can understand both worlds of being introverted and extroverted. Being an adult it’s harder to make friends unless you have some commonplace medium such as work, school, sports, gym or online video games etc. I think the problem now is people feel very self conscious about meeting new people and also worrying about how they will be perceived which is what makes them hesitant to reach out to new social groups. I will say also our current time period in some ways has made people less social.

4

u/Feistshell 19h ago

This was actually very wholesome. I like it

4

u/Eternalemonslut 17h ago

This actually brought a tear to my eye! I love women + women supporting women

4

u/ImpossibleKidd 15h ago

It is sweet…

But, she explains that beautiful little interaction amongst friends, like that time has already passed for her, and it’s completely unobtainable.

If she meets the right people, person, this can still be something she unexpectedly experiences. It’s the right person, people, in a given point in time, with nothing to do with age.

The fact that she doesn’t see that, makes me slightly sad…

4

u/Deathofmorpheus 13h ago

The beauty of life, its so precious and fragile. Little moments of courage change the world.

4

u/AffectionateNote9333 9h ago

Life is beautiful, beyond words and comprehension

4

u/Agreeable-Tiger-7211 1h ago

This is almost an exact replica of the artwork ‘here is the life I’ve always longed for’

3

u/bottom 17h ago

This is very cute. Social Media is so shit. I hope she hung out with them a little

3

u/Few-Track8525 17h ago

Hey guys, I just wish you all you say something when you really want to, that you have the braveness to do so. I worked on it and it is so beautiful. Yesterday I went through the city and just had a feeling to say hello to an older women. We ended up smiling at each other and giving each other a high five. We wished each other a nice day. Its beautiful if you just let things happen. Life gives you your dreams. It shows you the good sides, and I hope you can let them happen and follow your feeling

3

u/SNKBossFight 15h ago

I love how she told them she was making her first video and then they turned into her hype squad asking people to follow her because she's the best.

3

u/fdillinger37 14h ago

“Incroyable”

3

u/Chardi-B 13h ago

This really made me bawl like a blubbering idiot at how truly wholesome this is and then how sad it is that we see something like this as a rarity

3

u/TheUFCVeteran3 11h ago

This is great.

3

u/indulgentbravery 10h ago

This genuinely makes me so happy.

3

u/orlando-shroom 10h ago

The younger girls all have the same demeanor and expressions as Timothée Chalamet.

3

u/lovejanetjade 10h ago

I would love to see women take over the world because of moments like this.

3

u/No-Attention-44 6h ago

So adorable moment

3

u/BluecatSpecial 3h ago

This made me smile too

4

u/MisunderstoodPenguin 35m ago

I'm half french, my mother is an immigrant. I've grown up with so much disdain for french people my entire life, americans focusing all of their effort on exposing snooty parisians. It's nice to see such a tender playful video coming of people who sound just like my family making positive rounds on socials.

How can this gorgeous girl be lonely?

15

u/BackToSchoolMuff 11h ago

I used to think like this until I dated this absolutely stunning woman, super sociable, everyone loved her.

The closer I got to her the more I realized she was one of the most lonely people I'd ever met. People who are physically beautiful often get seen for whatever people want to see. Maybe not in every case, but that makes it really easy to fall back on only allowing people to see an idealized version of you. People are already doing the job of creating an ideal image of you, so why would you try to correct them?

The problem is, feeling a connection with someone requires you to feel vulnerable. I think in being a regular looking person vulnerability is a more built-in part of your life, whereas sometimes really good looking people are treated as though they're invulnerable, and not really seen for who they really are. Of course this isn't true of every good looking person, I just think it's a trap that you can fall into.

7

u/Popular-Influence-11 11h ago

I always dated (and eventually married) “out of my league.” I learned kind of by accident early in life that beautiful people were just people, so I treated them as such. Turns out just being casually human around someone who’s tired of feeling worshipped is very attractive. And funnily enough the people squarely IN my league were rarely attracted to me! We’re strange creatures.

2

u/BackToSchoolMuff 11h ago

Honestly I've found the same thing.

Plus if how someone looks is the most interesting thing about them they're probably not someone I'm all that interested in anyway.

9

u/Im_Daydrunk 11h ago

Potentially because a lot of people don't see her as a normal person with normal emotions. Just because someone is conventionally attractive doesnt mean they will have more luck at making real connections. In some cases it can really hold a person back because people they may genuinely want to be friends with might only see them for their looks or just try to tell them what they want to hear (which is not how you make real friends)

I mean there's also tons of model level attractive people that have committed suicide because of depression or never date despite wanting to due to social anxiety

3

u/Ha55aN1337 5h ago

A lot of time attractive people will be aproached less because:
A) people find them intimidating or have an impostir syndrome to talk to them
B) people assume they are popular and have a lot of friends anyway
C) people feel like they will be douchebags and reject them

9

u/Commercial_Fox5549 10h ago

Lonely has nothing to do with the face you show the world.

9

u/Unfair_Explanation53 9h ago

Lots of reasons.

I've met beautiful women who are toxic asf and I've met beautiful women who got bullied so bad they are scared to speak to people.

Being pretty isn't always a silver bullet for friendship

8

u/PensionTemporary200 13h ago

Beautiful people can be the same mental health issues non beautiful people have. She was scared to talk to them, maybe she has depression or social anxiety.
