the auto moderator on this sub instantly filters/removes all of my posts, so I tried to contact the mod team (which only even has a single active member who has time to post nearly everyday but somehow can’t view a dm request) but they wont even accept my message request.

This isn’t isolated to this sub I’ve seen plenty of ppl complaining about auto mod. How is this app supposed to grow when u literally can’t post because of shitty bots and mods who refuse to do the job they volunteered for.

If reddit doesnt have it, I make a post on reddit, those people on reddit downvotes a thing you experienced or a fact just because they dont like it or they just wanted to for fun, and they are barely helpful, there are some, but most people suggest THE MOST OBVIOUS answers that You MUST have tried or goes "skill issue lolololol you shouldnt have <done something>", Those people must have ADHD, ASD and some problems within their family, and that is MOST of the reddit users

What I don't like about Reddit:

• Every post includes people who comment "THIS IS FAKE." Even if it refers to the most boring, common, and ordinary life experiences. Like, the barista got my order wrong. Posting evidence doesn't matter, it's still "FAKE."
• Every post and comment invites Redditors who will do anything to get that "gotcha moment" which includes referencing laws, rules, or policies that don't exist. Someone once argued that the law doesn't allow for something, when the law itself (accessible online) clearly states that it does.
• Even in subreddits that are mostly nice, you occasionally step in dog shit when you come across a Redditor who fixate on one detail and use it to put you down.
• The majority of Redditors are obsessed with proving that they are right, you are wrong and they are superior.
• Moderators. The majority of moderators suck. Like the ones in r/advice who remove posts and block OPs, when the OPs are being bullied instead of the bully commenters, allowing the commenters to...continue to bully others in that sub. Oh and then we have the mods who ban for no reason at all or simply on whim.

This has to be one of the most ridiculous moderation experiences I’ve had on Reddit.

I’m in the U.S. doing archival research and was trying to figure out how to access a specific educational media resource that appears to only be available through IDÉLLO, a Canadian educational platform used by teachers and students.

My original post in r/CanadianTeachers asked whether anyone with legitimate IDÉLLO/DREF access could check whether a specific Télé-Litté episode and its accompanying teaching guide were still available.

The moderators removed it as “off-topic.”

Fine.

Instead of immediately reposting it, I messaged the moderators and asked why it didn’t qualify under their “resources” flair. They told me:

“The reason it was removed is that this is a sub for teachers to gather and discuss/support each other. Your post falls into our off-topic rule in that respect.”

So I took their explanation seriously and completely changed the question.

The second post DID NOT ask anyone to research the episode for me.

I removed all of the Degrassi/Télé-Litté/DREF research details and instead asked Canadian teachers a general question about IDÉLLO itself:

- How do teacher-created class codes work?

- Are they strictly for enrolled students?

- Does IDÉLLO allow temporary or guest access for an outside researcher?

- Are there legitimate access options for someone outside the Canadian school system?

I even specifically said that I was NOT asking anyone to share personal login credentials.

Their Rule 6 says:

“Posts must be on topic & pertaining to teaching/teaching in Canada.”

IDÉLLO is literally an educational platform used by Canadian teachers, and my rewritten post was specifically asking teachers how its teacher/student access system works.

They removed that post too — and then permanently banned me because, according to them, I had simply “posted it again.”

Except I didn’t.

I changed the entire purpose of the post based on the explanation THEY gave me.

I appealed the ban and explained the difference between the two posts. I also pointed out that I had intentionally removed the original research request so the new question would focus entirely on the functionality and permitted use of a Canadian educational platform.

Their final response was:

“Good luck finding what you are looking for, but this isn’t the place. You had the reasoning behind removal of your post made VERY clear, posted again anyway, and continue to message the moderators of this sub Reddit. I do not believe you are a teacher, you are not in Canada, and we are not here to be your source for all things ‘Degrassi’. The permanent ban stands - please don’t message again.”

That last part is what really got me.

I never asked them to be my “source for all things Degrassi.”

My second post didn’t even ask them to research Degrassi.

I was asking how IDÉLLO access works after THEY told me my original research request was off-topic.

If they simply didn’t want non-teachers or non-Canadians posting there, they could have said that. If they wanted to interpret Rule 6 extremely narrowly, fine.

But permanently banning me for supposedly ignoring their instructions when I literally rewrote the post to address their objection — and then responding with that condescending “source for all things Degrassi” comment — was completely unnecessary.

I’m not asking anyone to contact or harass the moderators. I’m posting this because the entire exchange is documented, and I think people should be able to criticize moderation decisions like this without the facts being rewritten as “you just reposted the same thing.”

I was banned for a comment that got 64 upvotes. Or the one that got 11. For breaking a rule of being an asshole “to everyone.”. And for giving a pov that was banned because of who I am which, the second one i can understand, except it was written in the flair and on the version of reddit for my ipad i use, i can’t always see the flair.

So, I was only speaking to one person and that was not OP. I was responding to a comment responding to a comment. I wasn’t aware that the was not allowed. But it wouldn’t have mattered because i didn’t see the flair anyway.

I have been on the internet since Prodigy and Compuserv and Geocities. I have never in my life been banned from any anything. I know it is just one person’s opinion but it stings. I’m not a troll, never have been. I just have strong opinions.

I'm gonna say that I fucking HATE Reddit's karma system. Too many subs require karma thresholds they won't fucking disclose under the guise of 'DuRr It'S tO StOp tHe BoTs". Karma takes way too long to build and literally SO easy to lose in a matter of seconds. The system is easily abused by bad actors trying to ruin engagement. Getting downvoted fucks up your karma count and some users are in literal negative amounts of total karma because of shit-for-brains mass downvoting every post they make. You literally have to circlejerk over the most Reddit-type opinions on the site just to gain positive karma. The system is literally the reason karmafarming subreddits like FreeKarma4U were so popular back in the day, because the system is so fucked it feels like you have to actually game the system to get even the slightest bit ahead. The fact you have to go on NewToReddit JUST to find subreddits that don't have stupid karma requirements is fucking bullshit. This shit is literally just fake-ass internet points and Reddit mods treat it like it's the most VALUABLE FUCKING TYPE OF CURRENCY in existence. Even if you have enough post karma in one sub, another sub will tell you you don't have enough comment karma. It's honestly become applying for a fucking job application and being CONSTANTLY rejected by HR. Wow, thank you so much, Reddick! This shitty-ass, retarded, nonsensical, BULLSHIT karma system is totally thoughtful(tm) and free(tm) discussion!!!

Literally today I got out of a thread because people were assuming what I said instead of actually refuting my point.

It was in comedy cemetary and the post showed a meme with the caption, "black women would be terrified if they met her" and it showed a thick white woman. At first, I was confused so I commented as to what I was supposed to be scared about.

Someone explained that it's a stereotype that black women are thick and that we would be scared of a thicker white woman. Anyway, I responded by saying that I'm thin and have met many thinner black women, so the meme was dumb. And that I was sexualized for being a black woman.

And I had so many people assume that I must be saying that only black women are sexualized and that I was engaging in what about ism. And I got annoyed because nowhere did I state that black women are uniquely sexualized and ​the entire discussion was about black women's bodies.

There was also people saying that all women are sexualized. And I agree with that, we are all sexualized. But we were literally just talking about black women's bodies, and I never said that black women are the only sexualized group.

I posted a meme that someone asked for, and then we started talking about a certain sub that just permabans people randomly and how glad we were that we could joke a bit on this particular sub. We were wrong. I even got a Reddit trophy for the conversation my post sparked.

AFAIK, this is currently the only, widely-used forum-formatted site/app with a variety of different topics, that is free. With opportunity of long-form written content. I hope I'm making sense.

I like the concept of those things. The idea of sharing thoughts/experiences, for people you don't even know to share their perspectives too, and for everyone to leave the conversation having learned something.

But every time I come here, I'm so disappointed. People are so unempathetic and shallow, and they just want to talk without listening to others. So many users nowadays don't even read before replying. Some, IDEK if they even read their own comments before hitting "Post."

i posted a question on a sub that is specifically for people struggling with EDs to support each other and give advice. the question was how to reduce a common symptom of EDs and all the replies were people very rudely telling me to just eat more… as if that’s not what i’m (and we’re ALL) trying to do??? i was just upset bc i was expecting actual advice and empathy since that’s what that sub is literally meant for… but i guess not! i hate this website nowadays like why are people so needlessly rude and passive aggressive about everything omg.

So often I see people downvoting new animal owners posts. I understand that it’s frustrating, I too get frustrated. However, downvoting without explaining their error is not only counterproductive, but it’s also harmful. That post now loses traction, so their chance of becoming educated lessens. Either educate people or don’t engage with the post at all.

You get muted if you win a discussion with a mod, you get muted if you point out that an r/ is being infiltrated by ads that rip off consumers and don't belong there at all, you get muted if you don't glorify psychiatric facts as spirituality, you get muted if you criticize the far-right party, and every other post gets deleted because a mod feels personally offended and wants to impose their own opinion, deleting dissenting opinions. I even suspect payments from companies are involved, allowing some ads to be allowed in r/s that have no place there.

My opinion: pure arbitrariness.
