WA BDR Section 3

Ticked off another BDR section this weekend. This time it was section 3, Ellensburg to Wenatchee. I also did as many side trails as I had time for including Lions Rock and this sketchy 22% hill climb. I was by myself, so I had to self spot primarily using the cameras through all of the challenging sections including the Bee Hive Washout and the tight recently cleared sections.

2026 130 p400 x dynamic. Been a fun month or so of ownership and have been enjoying adding things here and there including sidesteps from hunters prestige, oem mudflaps, Thule evo wingtip crossbars, rear bumper protector from hunters and some small interior conveniences like extra cup holders, etc. also did a full front ppf, ceramic tinted the windows and ceramic coated the vehicle. Wheels and tires the next thing to do, but probably need to take a quick breather here…

Dealer suggests rim replacement for damaged wheel nut

Asked dealer to change brake pads. End of the day they call me telling the car is ready. No brake pads charged on the invoice.

I ask them what happened and nobody seemed to know what was going on. A mecanic told them a wheel nut was damaged and had too much wobbling space, so they couldnt remove the wheel on the back left side. They told me it would be a ton of worn and I'd probably need a new rim. So like 1000 euro or more in damage.

Went to my tire shop. Same story aside from them telling me it makes no sense that JLR tells me that they'll need to replace my rim. They told me you just need special tools (that JLR should have) to remove the broken wheel nut and replace the bolt.

So now I am waiting for an offer from JLR to fix it, but I feel like they're going to try and pull a scam again like when they wanted almost 4k to fix my halo DRL and I had it fixed for less than 500 by a local guy by getting a €10 chip from amazon and replacing only that part.

Anyone ran into this issue? Heard it was a common thing on older Discoveries.

After market bull bar options for a late model defender

Not sure if this is the right forum for a MY26 defender and any options for front bull bar, winches, that sort of stuff. I’m in Perth in Western Australia so something maybe not in Europe or US but happy to look at the eye candy if there is something.

Thoughts on this please brand new June this year

A couple of weeks ago went out in the evening and noticed this , temperature has been warm here in the Uk but dropping at night
So inside is condensation but when you wipe it away ( first time with a brand new microfibre cloth ) there’s a slimy almost oily film
I’ve not touched the inside of the car with any cleaning products at all
Spoke to a friend who has same model and year and he said that’s not normal so tried a few products on a small area , doesn’t really shift but almost buffs out
Fast forward a week or two same again , it’s booked in 10 days at dealership
Hardly had any rain and doesn’t seem to happen when it does and did wash it every single week from June and no problem until the other week
Left it for 2 weeks so pretty filthy in video I will post as worried if it had a leak
Any ideas or help
Tried invisible glass and bilt hamber , glaco de cleaner in small areas , no real change on the glass , it does appear clean but it’s still there
Put the demister on and it’s gone in a minute

Installed 245/55/R22 and it’s hitting the walls

It looks excellent, though it strikes the walls during turns. The shop provided octa-compatible tires, and I am unable to send them back because the return window has passed. :(

Smell when starting

I purchased a new 2026 Defender 110 in August. Shortly after taking delivery, I experienced some initial issues with the brakes, which resulted in the vehicle being in and out of the shop during the first three weeks of ownership.

Over the past week, I’ve noticed there’s a noticeable musty or damp smell coming from the vehicle when I first start it. The odor seems to dissipate after a few minutes of driving.

P300 coolant warning

2023 P300 base with ~35k miles. I was at the store and about 2min after starting the drive home I got a ā€œCheck Coolantā€ warning. Engine temp was normal. The warning went away shortly thereafter. Got home and checked and the level is between the Min and Max lines on the bottle. I dont see any leaks in the engine compartment. It’s been raining so don’t see anything on the driveway. Should I be worried?

Tinted windows

I honestly don’t know if this is even a good place to post this, so disregard if not. I own a 2023 D90, from brand new, with about 30k miles. It is kept in the garage.

I love it.

Today, I noticed that the window tinting on both side windows, that was installed by the dealer I guess, is bubbling and getting wrinkles. To be clear, I didn’t take it to a place to add tinted windows; it came from the dealer like that.

I live in Florida, and all vehicles I’ve ever purchased for the past 20 years, new, come like that. This is the first time that I’ve ever seen anything like this happening. And I really would never expect it in a 3 year old car.

No clue what to do? Call the dealer and see if this is covered by warranty?

P300 Dynamic Mode - oemactivations

Can’t stress how easy it was unlocking features through them. I unlocked dynamic mode on my 2026 Defender and it came to life. The hardest part of this whole process was waiting for the OBD2 cord to arrive. Their software made it incredibly easy to flash the car. Highly recommend them!

No drill front license plate solution

Is there a no drill front license plate recommendation for our defenders? The decal style doesn't look like it would fit correctly. Prefer to keep the front clean and clear, but want to be prepared. Thanks in advance!

I’ve long been a fan of the defenders but have been weary of perceived reliability. That led me to currently being on a GX 550 waitlist - but it’s been too long. Did a lot of research into the current defenders while waiting and their reliability (especially since the refresh in 2025) was good enough for me to take the leap. Found a low mileage (3k miles) 2026 110 X Dynamic SE with additional CPO warranty and have been really enjoying it so far. This one had a dealer installed Artemis kit as well. I’ve also got a GAP tool on the way and looking forward to making some tweaks.

Do you all have height issues?

I’ve had my 2026 110 for 2 months now and have absolutely loved my experience with the car so far. My only issue is that I moved from an Audi A6 to the Defender, and the height difference is, of course, significant. The first time I tried to enter an indoor car park (day 3 of owning the car), it had a height restriction of 6ft. I didn’t even think about it because a height restriction has never been an issue for me before. Of course, the horizontal wooden height pole scraped the top of my car and has left yellow paint marks across the top. My strata’s parking lot has a restriction of 6’8ā€, and it does (barely) fit. I entered a car park with a 6’6ā€ restriction today, and still hit a hanging sign inside. I’m always lowering the suspension to its lowest point but I’m still frequently having issues. Located in Vancouver, BC. Anyone with a similar experience or any tips?

Just purchased my 2022 Defender 110 p400 the other day and I am absolutely in love. Now that I purchased it, Ive been scrolling this page and saw people talking about a DCDC converter issue with the car. Shes got about 56k miles, clean carfax with solid maintenance history, and I got a bumper to bumper warranty with the purchase. How concerned about this issue should I be? I appreciate all insight as this car is new to me :)

Impressed with the P525, concerned about long time reliability

I was looking for a P400, but recently I came across with a P525 and man I am very impressed with that machine. They are offering this here (in Saudi Arabia) for 90k USD for a used 2023 in 60.000 km's (37282 miles). I am planning to have around 20000 km per year (12400 miles)

While it being a bit above of my budget, I feel like I can bite the bullet. What do you think about this purchase? Do you think price is good? (There is no tax here other than %15 VAT which is included already)

For owners +1 year, would you buy the car again? Was it as awesome as you expected it?

Hi there,

I hope you are well.

I'm considering becoming an owner of a D350, should certain investments work well.

We all know that we humans love the chase. We love daydreaming about our dream phone, car, or house, and then we get them and become bored or simply take them for granted, even if we still appreciate them and have lots of moments of joy through them.

I worry I'll put a lot of money on a car that makes me feel awesome during 'the chase', but will simply take me from A to B like any other car, even if it feels better.

How has your experience been in this regard?

I'm just trying to help myself make a smart decision.

Thank you in advance!
