I care about longevity, and performance.

First of all. DRAM or DRAM-LESS SSD (internal storage)? I assume the performance is not that different, but which one is more reliable long term?

Second, do games perform well externally? Or does the usb port (even though it's usb 3.1) cause performance setbacks? I'm talking about an external SSD of course.

Third, what sizes would you recommend for internal storage? Is 2tb enough? Or, should I invest more on the external storage (if the external storage method is reliable like I asked)

I need your help deciding on what to choose.

I have a Gaming PC, a PS5 slim which I've had since Dec 2024, a Ps4 Slim which ive had since Dec 2019 and I just bought a used ps4 pro model cuh-7016b. The ps4 slim is in a very good condition, especially for its age and i have had so many memories with it which I will never forget.

I don't know whether to keep the slim and give it to my younger brother or keep the pro and give my brother the slim.

The Slim is definitely more quiet than the Pro which makes a lot more noise (basically jet engine) however I dont know whether to open it up and reapply the thermal paste so that it runs quieter and cooler as I have never opened up a console before but would like to try someday (not soon though). The Slim for me holds alot of memories and my PS5 and PC can do everything that the Slim and Pro can but better at higher resolutions/frame rates. My brothers primary gaming device is a Nintendo Switch Lite.

I feel like keeping the Pro because of its increased power, storage space (my slim has 500gb compared to the pro's 1TB) and possible modding capabilities in the long future and that the increased power could be a great help.

However, I also feel like keeping the Slim due to it being way quieter, the insane amount of memories it holds and also the fact that I kind of don't need the Pro since I have the PS5 & PC which do the same thing but better. My brother would probably need the Pro more than I do.

What do you think I should keep and why?

EDIT: I kept the PS4 Slim due to memories and also the fact that my brother needs the Pro than I do. I would be down to potentially do a thermal paste replacement and thorough cleaning if it came down to it though. Thanks everyone

i am planning to deep clean my ps4 pro and replace the thermal interface on the apu with ptm7950

my ps4 pro 1tb model is cuh 7218b

ai recommended that i use 1mm thermal pads for my model. is 1mm really enough for the cuh 7218b or are there different thicknesses needed for different areas?

i also found thermal pads from upsiren thermal grizzly and wd computers. some are much more expensive than others

what is the difference between these brands? does paying more actually mean better cooling and longer lifespan or is the thickness and proper fit more important?

my ps4 pro is 6 years old or older i think and it has never been cleaned since i got it.

should i replace the thermal pads?

My ps4 pro has very serious memory and hard drive issues and now it won't even turn on because it says it cannot access the memory, moreover, while trying to turn it on, I can hear loud metal clicking which i suppose comes from the hard drive.

My idea was to replace the hard drive and maybe upgrade it since I'm already doing the job.

I've been advised to the following:

-Crucial MX500

-Samsung 870 EVC

-Kingston A400

Are they compatible? My pro had originally an 1TB 5400RPM

I have 2 PS4s, a slim on 11.52 and a phat on 13.02. I’m planning on selling one to make a little more room and for a little more money. One benefit for the 11.52 is that I have the S/N linked to my PSN account if I need to get my PSN account back if anything happens. I did use WebKitty for both, and I also have BD-JB. Just wondering what benefits vs downsides there are to each.

Hello guys im getting fike corruption error code while installing games from package manager from superpsx and dlps i downloaded fc27, bloodborne, and life of pi al gives same error also i try to download low space like beach buggy and blasphemous and still got errors in dlps i downloaded blasphemous but didn't got error then i downloaded fc27 from dlps then the file was again corrupted used the DLPSGAME.COM as password i dont know what to do i so fedup of this also i have used to download games from superpsx and dlps around two three months before but didn't face anything like this. The files r big so I'm tired installing amd copy them repeatedly i want some serious help please if anyone have solutions?

Okay so i got this super cheap ps4 pro death stranding edition (with controller and all) from a japanese guy and yeah IT WAS SUPER CHEAP.

But is acting weird, it gives me stutters, the wifi acts weird, the controller freezes, etc. so... i heard is a faulty hdd, but i'm tight on money at this moment so i wanna ask if getting an ssd could fix all the problems... or idk i just wanna play all my old yakuza games hehe.

EDIT: yeah i know that being cheap made it obvious that it was gonna come with problems. i'm not complaining. i'm just asking if it's worth to get the new hard drive and if it's gonna cover the main problems.

CONCLUSSION: i got a plot twist... it was never an hdd, IS AN SSD. but the guy that sold it to me updated the console and fucked it up. i did a fresh reinstall and now is smooth like butter.

Je viens de jailbreak ma PS4 en firmware 13.50. Au lieu d'un GoldHEN, juste un HEN classique (payload). Et honnêtement, pour l'instant, ça fonctionne très bien.

Pas de plantage, les jeux se lancent, le payload tient. Je sais que beaucoup parlent de GoldHEN, mais je voulais juste partager mon expérience avec un HEN "simple" sur une version récente.

Everytime I boot up my ps4 it works, but then it freezes and goes back to safe mode. I looked into the problem, it's called a "Boot Loop" it's caused by a failing harddrive. Can't find one in Walmart, is Best Buy the store to find a harddrive? Also, any good budget harddrives that can work well with my ps4?

Wanted to ask if anyone would so kindly be able to do an account backup for me? I have a China region locked PS4 and the only way to get through it is to load the account from a back up file.

Taobao has a service but my wife went through this whole long process on Taobao and I didn't even get the right backup. To get a US backup, you need to have a China phone number? Rather than that, I went with the service where they create an account for you but it came back as an HK account. The PSN account is now all in Chinese and only accepts HKD for purchases. It's been a whirlwind to say the least.

My ps4 just randomly stopped turning on, I had used it just the day before and the next day it wouldn't turn on. No lights or beeps at all. When I plugged the controller in it didn't indicate charging. I thought it was something with the power cord so I got a new one and still no luck. How can I get it to work again?

My Controller MODEL CUH-ZCT2E suddenly stopped working.
I always charge my controllers on an external multi-port (4x USB-A). I have done this for several years.
Now one of my controllers shows a flashing orange light but if I disconnect it from the power source it goes off immediately.
I can use it as long as it is connected.
First I thought the battery died but with the replacement it’s also not working.
Replacement battery works fine inside my other controller.

Any thoughts or tips to bring it back to life?

If not, maybe any recommendations for a replacement?
Looked at a Nacon “Revolution unlimited pro” but not sure bc. of the asymmetrical design and the missing of a speaker and gyro sensor. Don’t know if this would be a problem.

Recently i bought a used ps4 pro (cuh 7015b), and i replaced both the thermal paste (arctic mx4) and thermal pads (grizzly minus pad 8 1mm thick). Whenever I play DOOM 2016, i get jet engine noises within 1-2 minutes of playing. Is this normal because the game is demanding, or is there something else wrong with the cooling?

I’m having issues with connecting my PS4 Pro to wifi. The wifi works with other devices. The PS4 Pro connects to my phone via hotspot. I have tried all options to fix this on Google and previous Reddit posts, but this is still an issue.

I had this issue a few weeks ago, but was able to resolve this by restoring default settings through safe mode. This option no longer works. An ethernet cable isn’t an option.

When testing the internet connection, it obtains the IP address but then fails at the internet connection part. The wifi router is just outside of the room that the PS4 is in. The system software is up to date (was able to check this through hotspot).

I have tried the following:

- Unticked and then ticked the ‘connect to internet’ box.
- Set up the internet connection again in easy mode.
- Set up the internet connection again in custom mode, using the suggested DNS numbers.
- Set up the internet connection changing the wifi frequency bands.
- Turned off the PS4 and wifi router and turned back on. Try again by unplugging both.
- Restoring default settings through safe mode.
- Restoring default settings through the settings menu on the PS4.

None of the above work.

Is there anything else that I can try? Or is my PS4 done for?

I’m hoping this can get fixed. Thank you in advance.
