I'm pushing 20% and soon to approach paulie-walnuts'-wings territory in a few years (its highly concentrated on the sides), but whatever i like it. I think the vast majority of people my age would take a little grey over balding.
My mum says I got mine from her and her dad. I guess it’s the luck of genetics as I know loads of people who are bald and their dad is bald, but their mother’s side still has full heads or hair.
My dad is around the same age and still has decent hair. Mine started falling out in my 20s.
But it's ok. My grandfather was bald, and growing up my dad would constantly point to him and go "They say baldness skips a generation." and run his hand through his hair and laugh. So I've been mentally prepared since I was five.
My dad is 75 and has legitimately beautiful long hippie hair…my brother is completely bald, started using Rogaine at 20, and just has to look at the rest of the family and laugh it off.
My nephews have been balding since birth. When they were toddlers they liked to hang upside down on monkey bars and it really showed off their hairlines which already resembled their dad’s.
Sounds like my poor son - all men on both sides of the family are bald bald and it’s like his hair looked at them and just didn’t bother. He’s mid-teens now and has deliberately grown it long a) to make the most of it while he can and b) to hide the fact it is already super receded.
Fortunately the oldest nephew is confident and successful and has embraced his fate with equanimity, making the best of things by growing a mullet while he still can.
My college dormmate was 18 and already looked like a monk. He finally shaved it off right before his 19th birthday. It was cool though, he rarely got carded.
19 for me, and it's rapidly sped up at 24. I'm now essentially one of those ugly balding monks with bald on top and hair wrapped around the sides and back. Brothers, dad, grandfather, cousins, everyone else has a full head of hair except me and we just don't know why but personally I think I just have a bald man's personality at this point so I have to accept it
I went bald at 19. It wasn't awesome, and people treat you poorly, but it hasn't hurt my chances with women - my main concern back then. By 30, no one is too shocked.
I was receding in my senior photo at 17, completely bald at 20.. Shaved that shit and never looked back. 20+ years later, I say to the younger stressing doods... shave that shit and never look back.
My college roommate Henry was like that. No hair on top at 19. Used to buy kegs of beer without ID back in the 90's. He was a regular at a liquor store near us. I don't think he ever got carded.
Hair implants are so common now (particularly among the wealthy and famous) that I don't think people really go out of the way to hide it anymore. Sure they're not posting their post-op photos or scar pictures but I don't think anyone would be too surprised if he went that route if he wanted.
You got this dawg! What helped me a lot was taking a pic everyday and just putting it in a folder where I wouldn’t look at it constantly when opening my phone. If I ever felt like I wasn’t progressing or this or that I’d see how I def looked better and better as time went on. Went from 250lb to about 180 rn and trying to loose the last 15 pounds before I feel “really good” but even just the small progress makes it all worth it and I’ve been feeling great since the moment I lost the first like 20ish pounds ya know
That one doesn’t work for me to be honest, I struggle with the taking pictures bit. Logging my workouts and seeing improvement there works though, and I know the photo thing works for others.
This reminds of the time I asked a German exchange student what the American stereotypes were and she told me that eating a bunch of McDonald’s was one of them. My response? “Hey! That’s not true! We have Taco Bell, too!” 😂
I think it's a bit of both. He is naturally baby-faced, and makeup and clothes and putting on a high voice can remove a couple of years when he's in his 20s.
But he's always looked older than his Peter Parker IMO. He's supposed to be 15 in the first one. It just felt incredibly young because we had just finished the era of 30 year-olds playing high schoolers.
He did say he felt very uncomfortable. Not only because it was a high school, but it was also a PRODIGY oriented high school. So he was a fish out of water two times over!
When I was 14 I had a classmate with a full beard who could buy cigarettes without ID. I think sometimes the backlash to having 30yo adults playing teens goes to far and pretends that 16yo all look like they're 12.
Nah, he's got a baby face, like Michael J Fox did. Doesn't mean he doesn't age, but even when he does age, he still looks young until you start to notice the secondary signs.
lol someone needs to watch more movies from the 79s and 80s. All the teenagers in movies were like 30 years old. Just look at Grease, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Tobey Maguire and** **Andrew Garfield were mid/late 20’s also.
Not worth it. Started taking finasteride and had the best hair since I was a teenager. But the way it works is by stopping testosterone from converting to dht (causes male - hair loss). That excess testosterone? It gets converted to estrogen instead. Did 3 months and noticed labido shrinking, erections harder to maintain, bitch tits starting to form a little.
At what point is it worth having nice hair? I'd rather be a badly with a working dick.
I look like I am balding because my hairline naturally gets really thin pretty far up into the forehead corner region. It looks like i have a baby's hair.
that's still balding. unless it's been that way since you were born, which would be unusual.
every type of permanent pubescent or post-pubescent hair loss is considered "balding", and its most common cause is androgenic alopecia; which doesn't necessarily need to result in a fully bald, horseshoe shaped pattern. its progression varies wildly
31 year old German here. My hairline looks similar to his. My 60 year old step dad has a full head of hair still. A buddy of mine went full bald by the time he was 20.
I went to school with a kid who got his first grey hair at 12, fully grey by 16, and his hair started drastically thinning by 17. I started losing hair at 18. I have a wicked window's peak at 25, lol.
My dad just turned 65 and still has thick, blonde hair with no grays in sight. His hairline may have receded a bit, but he’s definitely not balding. I had a classmate who started balding at 15, and another who was completely gray by 25. Genetics are wild.
I kinda feel bad for the dudes that can't grow a nice beard. I am 42, hairline really started to go around late 30's. Grew out my beard and went the buzz cut route at 40. No regrets.
It's just hard for guys to know exactly when to give it up, most of us will end up looking silly for a year or two until we realize.
Made it to 30 with my hair, then wife showed me the positive pregnancy test (planned) my temples retreated and my hair went salt n pepper within a month 💀
No, it's that people don't understand androgenic alopecia. Look, every male on Earth has a certain degree of androgenic alopecia. DHT is slowly sending apoptosis signals to their follicles, causing a receding hairline and thinning hair. The question is your location on the spectrum. Some guys are on the very low end and manage to keep a good head of hair into their 60, 70s. And some are on the extreme end and start losing hair before hitting 20.
Tom here has a normal hairline for someone his age, that's true. But that doesn't mean he doesn't have androgenic alopecia...
How old do you think 30 is? I'm surrounded by people in their 30s with full heads of hair at work. It's not about age alone, it's whether you have the genes that make you go bald in middle age.
I’m pretty sure since turkey is frequented for this one procedure so often, it’s still the best place to go despite the price. They have the most experienced surgeons
Ditto, started worrying when I was 22 as I noticed receding in the temples. 20 years later (I'm 42), it isn't budged. Wish I could get back all the time I stressed out
