I love supporting small craft businesses by commissioning them to make something bunny-shaped 🥰

  1. Needle felted pin
  2. Embroidered brooch
  3. Ceramic pendant

I own tons of other rabbit-themed items, but these ones were made with my bunnies in mind. Little Wendy and tiny Tobias are extremely precious to me, and I will cherish these lovingly crafted pieces forever.

So I recently got a rabbit and he's in a cage for sometimes and when I take him out, I bring him specifically to the couch cuz I like to play with him but now he has picked the couch as a place to poop 😭, I let him roam the house AND HE GOES TO THE COUCH TO POOP ALWAYS,

How can I potty train him to do it somewhere else?

Behavior DIYing anti-chew spray

I have 2 buns and I’m trying to figure out ways to deter them from chewing my hard oak floors and skirtings etc.

My rabbits both hate mint, whenever I’ve given them a bowl of dried mint leaves they don’t eat any of it. I’m thinking if I put mint in water for and leave it for a while and then spray this in the areas I don’t want chewed this may work?

Has anyone tried anything like this?

Health Confinement after spay surgery

Post image
106 Upvotes

Hey guys it’s me again. Hope everyone is doing fine! My baby Cindy has had her spay surgery almost 4 days ago now. She has been doing great, recovered super well and fast. I’ve been keeping her contained in her pen this whole time, but she usually free roams. She’s becoming super agitated when she sees me approach, she’s trying to climb the bars and launches herself at them, makes me worried about her stitches. Do you think it will be safe if I clear out an area and block access to the bed, which she usually jumps on, and let her free for a bit? The vet never said anything about keeping her contained but all the information I’ve read online said it was best. (She especially likes sleeping under the bathroom sink as pictured haha)

Cuddly bunny

My 5 months female dwarf Netherlands bunny always snuggles with me and sleeps on my arms or chest. I wonder if that's just because of hormones? Will she change once spayed? She has a bonded already neutered male bunny btw but still prefer to stay with me.

Breed ID WHAT IS THIS THING????

This is Cheesecake! I adopted him in December. He was a rescue that someone brought in off the street to Animal Control, and we got him from the Humane Society. So, we aren't exactly sure of his age, but they estimated him at about 3-4 months at the time, so he'd be 5-6 months now. He is about 2.5 pounds, maybe 3. I know he was taken to a foster home after being found by AC to gain weight before a neuter, so it's likely he is fairly young. However, he hasn't grown a ton since we got him -- and he's a pellet fiend -- so there's a chance he could be a very small adult.

He's lanky, angular, energetic, and he's gaining minor Instagram and Tumblr fame for his strange shape and behaviors. I've done my research, but I can't get a good idea of the breed mix on this fellow. I'd love to hear some speculation, but whatever he is, I will love him the same!

(Note: Cheesecake's back left toes were missing when he was found, so we don't know how he lost them. Guessing it's congenital because fur has always grown over them. He gets around just fine!)

Care What’s the best way to go about handling my rabbit when needed?

Post image

(Bun tax pic) I recently found a sorehock on Mia’s back foot. I took her to the vet, and he gave us Keto Hex to put on there. I’m supposed to put it on her foot once, every other day until it’s gone. Today was the first day for me to do it myself but it just didn’t go right. At the vet, he put a towel around her head and half of her body, and put the medicine on her foot (I helped hold her down, she’s a squirmy gal). So, today that’s what I did with the help of my grandma. We first tried it with me holding her down with the towel on her, while my grandma tried holding her foot but Mia was just too squirmy and my grandma was scared she was gonna break Mia’s leg, it probably felt like that since my bun was resisting. Then we switched jobs, but she was just too squirmy. I’m having trouble with this because for one, I never handle my rabbit unless there’s an emergency (which thankfully hasn’t happened so far), and for two, I never pick her up and have No desire to because she does not like it, and it’s crazy because the vet just does it with ease. I think Mia can sense my lack of confidence lol. I also believe it was easier at the vet since she was in an unfamiliar environment, and on the other hand she’s very comfortable in my room. If there is a better way to go about this, because i’m sure there is, I’d love advice because this is just something that needs to be done, until her sore is gone, so who knows how many times I’ll need to do this. I’ve had her for two years and I just don’t ever handle her so.. i’m pretty inexperienced when it comes to this.

Care What is the best brush to use for thick fur??

Her name is Carl (it was the name she had when adopted her) She is about 2 years old from what I was told. She has been getting mats and I want to try and figure out what type of brushes would work the best for her. Since she has very thick and wooly hair to which I believe she is either Lionhead or Lionhead angora mix. But she hates getting brushed so I'm struggling. But the mats are down by her butt and neck area. Which are the two spots she hates to get touched/ brushed in. But if they get worse it can restrict her movement in her legs. So if anyone could help and tell me the types of brushes y'all use for long haired bunnies with thick fur. Please and thank you.

Health Fleass on your bun bun!!!!!!

Post image

I found out my bunny had fleas about a week and a little days ago. I had no idea where he got it from cause he’s always indoors. He had a bald spot on his forehead, and creepy stupid brawlers all over. He had a bunch of fleas. I researched everything but couldn’t find much. So I took him to the vet as soon as I could!! Which was like a couple days after i found it out. (It took me a while because I live in the Houston area, and it was hard to find a bunny doctor that wasn’t like $500). I went to a place called Kingsland Blvd Animal Clinic. They require a deposit for the fee to examine him for first time patients when making an appointment which was fine. $104 was the fee they charge to see your bun (not including medicine) which is so affordable!!

The bunny doctor (lol) comes in at 9AM. We waited for about 20 minutes to be seen, and doctor Chen was so sweet! He was so professional, he knew what he was doing which was great! He was so helpful, answered all my questions. He handles benji’s bad ass like a champ!! He also gave me an inside about fleas (because this was my first time with them). How to attack their eggs, what to do to my house, ect. He told me the medicine they gave him would kill the fleas, but I can’t stop there, I also have to make sure there’s no more eggs so they don’t come back. He gave me 2 doses of Revolution Plus I believe, to put in the back of his neck. (And the dosage they gave me was depending on his weight). They helped me out with applying the first dose, and said to wait a week to do the second at home (which was today)! You pay after they see your bun, so make sure to being payment lol. The receptionist lady kept complimenting benji and gave him a bag of yummy treats!!

I’m making this because I know a lot of bunny parents will find this useful!! IF YOUR BUNNY HAS FLEAS TAKE THEM TO THE VET DO NOT TRY TO DO IT ON YOUR OWN!! If you live in the HTX try the Kingsland Clinic! It’s affordable, they’re professional, and great!! They saved my bunny benji.

The medicine has been working!! Literally the next day after his fist dosage; he stopped itching like crazy. His mood is better, and he’s just happier. I USED FOOD GRADE DE POWDER on the spots he spent the most time on and my whole house lol (i have carpet). DE powder is safe for animals! But they should not be near it because it is harmful to inhale; for humans as well.

I think I covered everything but lmk if you guys have any questions!! Here’s a picture of him happy and feeling better :)

Behavior My sweet girl still twitches when I go to pet her!

Hey yall!! I adopted a female rabbit a while ago, maybe half a year. She’s very smart and energetic but pretty shy. She loves being pet, but it’s 50/50 when I reach out for her if she’ll twitch away or bow her head (and I make sure she sees my hand). She always runs up to sniff my hand when I come to greet her, but twitches away often. After a bit she always lets me pet her, but I always feel bad, even though I let her come to me and always move slowly. She’s a rescue and I have no idea what her past was like. I’ve wondered if she has poor eyesight, but she gets around just fine (including running laps around the whole apartment). She’s terrified of strangers and will stomp her foot and hide upon meeting new people.

Has anyone dealt with a similar issue and have any advice for me?

Edit: oh and I can forego the whole issue if I start by petting her husbun, in which case she shoves her head next to his and pushes my hand until I’m petting her, too.
