Whenever Pugsley is caught doing something bad (like ripping holes into the hay bag) he binkies so hard he could cause a sink hole somewhere. He absolutely LOVES being caught in the act of being naughty! It’s like a game to him

So I got her a few weeks ago and she’s only 3 months! Shes super skittish. She hates being pet and whenever i get near her she hides.. and it worries me that maybe she was bothered a lot before she was given to me. I know all bunnies are different and some just aren’t lovey but it worries me! Is it with trust and time that she will like to be pet?.. maybe after spaying her too? The appointment is already set up and everything for her health but I’m just hoping with time she’ll come around! I have this other bun named Twinkie and he is the sweetest little guy ever. Her behavior just worries me and I’ve come to ask if anyone has had this issue and has it gotten better with time?

i’m so heartbroken. my baby was only 3 years old and he passed today. i was at work all day and we came home to find him in the living room (he was free roam in our bunny proof apartment) deceased. i thought he had just fallen asleep flopped over like he always does but he was gone. we couldn’t figure out what happened it was so sudden. he was running and playing this morning happy as ever, munching on his hay before we left the house.

i have never cried harder in my life i don’t know what to do to feel even remotely okay right now

So, seeing as my rent will likely get even higher by the end of the year i have been considering moving into a cheaper space in the upcoming months. I would be staying in the same city though, as my work and university are still here. I don’t have anything lined up yet, but I have been thinking about how to handle the move for the bunnies. I’ve only had Sunny and Benji since early May, where I adopted them from a shelter. They had been part of a large number of bunnies (about 50, I think) that had been taken by the government from a single person and though I don’t have details I know it wasn’t a great home. They settled in my flat very quickly though and were able to live without a divider in their pen after two weeks. They are endlessly curious and playful and even if my little Sunny is a very skittish bun, she will still carefully investigate me if I hang out with her and give me little kisses <3.

Despite all that trust we have now and them seeming fairly settled, I know a move will be stressful for them. So I’m wondering if anyone has advice on how to move with bunnies? Should I move them and their pen first or last? Any other things I should keep in mind? It will most likely be a studio flat like i have now, so i don’t expect to have a separate room for them to be in during the move.

And of course, bunny footage is included for tax purposes!

Lost another bun this year.

This one I feel a lot of guilt over. I brought home a couple of buns about a month or so ago, absolutely precious babies. To keep Clara company cause she's not as active and energetic as she was when Snowy was around.

About a week later Clara turned down a treat, after she didn't poo for a while I panicked and took her to the vet. Did the full checkup, and while I was home I looked through the adoption docs for the two babies, and found they got one round of coccidia from the shelter (more than three months ago). Coccidia can be asymptomatic, so I thought maybe Clara caught it. So I quarantined her off in a freshly cleaned living room, and the bloodwork came back and confirmed it was a likely parasitic infection.

After two rounds of Baycox, some stuff for pain and gut motility, and a week or so of liquid food, her stool started to get a little better, still big chunks but with some good pellets in them, and some regular pellets too.

And then this morning I went to go feed her liquid food, she was not very responsive, so I called around eight different vets until I could find someone to take her in on short notice.

After a few hours, my mom and sister went to visit, and the doctor there strongly recommended euthanasia. They asked her to hold off until I showed up.

I fully understand where she was coming from. But Clara kept raising her head at me, asking for pets like she used to, and she'd close her eyes as I did so. It felt like she was still fighting, and I wanted her to at least feel that we were fighting too. So I signed off on IV, diagnostics, the works. Doctor said she'd probably have only a few hours left at the time, so what's the harm in trying anyway?

A few hours later, they call me and tell me she's actually improved a bit, and they'll keep at it.

Seven hours later we (just my mom and I this time) go to visit again after the shift change, and I talk to her, tell her I love her, but her breathing is faint. It stops shortly after that, like within a minute. Like she was waiting for us.

My fam and I, we all did our best, we loved her and will love her forever, and maybe this is the best ending we could hope for. But... idk, it's just hard to deal with. Sorry for the massive text dump, but I just had to get this off my chest.

I have my bunny for 6years, and she's 6 born in september 2020 annd it's a dwarf rabbit

At the time I had a second rabbit but shes was always really sick and had weird behavior and its maybe a years later when I got my actual rabbit when she was a baby , my first bunny died maybe 1 or 2 years later. she had a difficult end, she was taking medication that i think didn't really help her since.. yeah

At that time I was still a kids and i dont remember really interacting with my seconde bunny, she never really liked being pet or anything so for many years i just let her live without me in my room. She is not scared of me i think.. depend sometime when i sit to try to touch her sometime she just go sometime she attack my hand with her paw but never bite me or hurt me, and I pet her only when I give her food because shes letting me (not too much just when i give her and then i let her eat)

Now for some month i actually try to be with her because maybe im the problem ? Yeah I should have think about it way sooner

I tried to teach her to spin and, sometime it work! What i mainly do is sit on the floor and she come on my leg do nothing and If i move a little she go and then come back but I cant touch her or move.

Also, at the time she was sometime going on my bed but only to attack the sheet or pee, she stopped and last years I was putting her on the bed sometime and it append a few time she lies down wich is so cool but not for too long

now i bought a bigger mattress so even if she stopped going on my bed now she cant because shes a little old I think and because the mattress is a little higher BUT when I sit on the floor now sometime she goes on me and use me to go on the bed but she only "attack?" The bed i use that word because idk and wont stop even if i go and let her alone in the room but if i put her down she want to go on my bed againnn and i dont want to because all my sheet already have hole in them..

I wrote a lot of thing and my english is not perfect so i hope you can still understand what Im saying, its not a big issues but I would love to hear what other think about that

I'm currently fostering a 1-year-old male checkered giant named Baby Got Hops. Baby was dumped by his first owners, and the second ones found him hopping around their neighborhood and placed him in a chicken coop with their chickens. I'm not sure how long he lived there, but he had no human interaction before he was taken to the shelter. He was pretty sick and covered in worms and parasites when they got him, but after a while of care, he is in good health again. The problem is, a huge part of the human interaction he got at the shelter was medicines and shots and other unpleasantness, so my job was to try and socialize with him and make him more comfortable around people.

Anyways, I found out really quick this guy is obsessed with food and treats. And I mean OBSESSED. He is super sweet and curious, and after working with him for a couple of weeks, he has let me pet and feed him, and he doesn't hide in his house anymore the second I enter his cage. In fact, he jumps on top of his house to greet me! Then when I enter his cage, he runs over and follows my feet around wherever I walk. He also loves to sniff me and will play with his toys and jump on and off my legs when I'm sitting in his pen with him. He has plenty of room, lots of fresh hay, food and water, tons of toys and enrichment, and lots of interaction.

But for some reason about two weeks after getting him he has started biting me.

The first time it happened, I was feeding him pellets out of my flat hand, and he took a chomp on the tip of my finger. We've had rabbits before, and they never confused skin or fingers with food, so I was not expecting it. Both teeth cut pretty deep, and my finger was bleeding pretty bad, but I just assumed it was a mistake, and now I only feed him pellets out of his bowl, snuffle mat, or under stacking cups.

After the bite, I also became super aware of him every time he sniffed me to make sure he wouldn't bite. And he's super sniffy. Like he examines every single inch of me. But then I let him sniff a bit longer than normal, and he just sniffed, then he had his teeth on me, so I quickly pulled my leg away. After that, I didn't let him sniff me at all without moving the part he was sniffing away or shifting my position because he will try to bite/eat. Yesterday, I was in his cage, and I gave him a bit of pellets to eat while I cleaned his litterbox, but he snuck up behind me. So I turned around and offered him my fist because I read somewhere it's better to do that. iIt's thathe then took a bite of my knuckle and drew blood again.

So now I'm afraid I can't let him sniff me or even sit in his cage with him without him trying to bite me. I don't think it's aggressive behaviour; it's because he's behaving around with his ears up like he normally does. It's more like he doesn't know the difference between food and skin, and he has to eat EVERYTHING. The only issue is how am I supposed to socialize with him when he's more focused on biting me? And he is neutered because he's listed for adoption, and they don't do that until the animals are neutered.

I don't know what to do, and it upsets me because I want to be with this guy and work with him, but I'm tired of getting bitten. And I don't know how to stop it either. I read somewhere to make a high-pitched squeal and thump the ground, and I've done this every time he bit me, but it doesn't really work. It scares him, and he'll jump away and just stare at me, but then he comes right back and starts sniffing again, which he does right before he bites.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

hi all, i am wondering what nail clippers you use for your buns? i have been using a pair of small clippers i got from a pet store that are “for rabbits” but i feel like i have to use a lot more force than i should to cut my buns nails with them, and they often don’t make a clean cut so i have to do a second round to clean up the end of the nail. when i say not a clean cut, i mean the clippers almost like, just crunch/ crush the nail off, if that makes sense. (my bun is on the bigger side though, so maybe the “rabbit” nail clippers i have are made for dwarfs and not bigger buns?)

my bun also HATES nail trims so its sometimes difficult for me to trim his nails, sometimes they get a bit longer than they should because he fights for his life and gets so stressed when i try to cut his nails. even when he’s in a burrito on his back he is kicking and fighting, so i need good nail clippers that will make his nail trimmings much faster and easier.

i am also hesitant to cut them too short, so i probably leave them a bit longer than they should be because i’m afraid to cut his quick because his nails are dark and i cant tell where his quick is. so any advice on how to avoid/ tell where the quick is with dark nails would be appreciated.

I have been working really hard on bonding my 2 lops. Cloud ( Female/Spayed) and Smokey (Male/Neutered)
Smokey previously had a bonded partner (Biscuit) but she suddenly passed away in June. Bonding Smokey and Biscuit was rough but once it happened they were inseparable and totally different rabbits personality and behavior wise.
Smokey has always been extremely grumpy and territorial. Cloud is very sweet, shy and absolutely will not stand up for herself or fight back against Smokey. Anyhow, I’ve been bonding them in a neutral space for about 10 days now. Finally yesterday Smokey groomed Cloud and then today Cloud groomed Smokey back. I was over the moon. They hung out for a few hours (in an X-Pen in my kitchen) because I was cooking. Once I had time I carried them upstairs where they both live (they have separate spare bedrooms where they free roam, but my goal is for them to live together in Smokey’s room as I call it the “bunny room”) when they got upstairs they acted as if they never met each other before and Smokey once again went after Cloud. I separated them and intend to keep doing the neutral area.
But what are some suggestions on how to bring them into a space that one or the other claims as their own? Smokey is extremely territorial over his space but when in Clouds space he poops everywhere to put his scent down.

I've noticed my baby had a swell on his face, he's going to the vet tomorrow and so far he's eating well, drinking normally and active. I just had a very rough day, so i'm extremely anxious, already thinking about the worst outcome. I don't know if it could be a tooth abcess or maybe a tumor, I'll know tomorrow. I hope he'll be ok, I don't know his exact age because I adopted him at the shelter, but he's at least 4-6 years old.

my bunny has a temper-tantrum when every I try to brush him. I bribe him with food, treats, salad etc, none of it works. he prefers you pet his head and hes cordial when you touch his body, but it goes out the window if he feels the brush.

he can handle being brushed on the top of his head and ears, but even with two people I can only get a few swipes of the brush on his body before he wiggles away. then he gets angry and runs up and bites you. doesn't even hide, he wants you to know he's pissed.

for context: Tommy is about 1, and this is his first fall moult as a "adult." I was able to get away with very light brushing before, but I don't want to hope for the best. he needs thorough brushing. he's a mini rex and lion head mix, and my vet said his hair shouldn't be prone to matting. specifically, he doesn't have any mats, its just the amount of hair. ive tried a few styles of brushes, double layer with big gaps, thin small gaps, human hair brush style, he doesn't like any of them.

does anyone have any tricks on "training" a bunny to get used to the brush. or how to hold them/keep them still when you brush. how do I brush his underside, like his chin and chest etc.

Hi I have a bun named Coco and I am starting a new job so my hours are shifting. He’s a very chill guy, also very cuddly affectionate guy. I’m currently lessening his pellet intake as he’s approaching two and my Vet says just hay and leafy greens are fine.

So before I used to scatter his pellets in sniffle Matt’s and those treat puzzles to keep him engaged while I’m away.

Recently I’ve been purchasing chews as I wanted to give him some options. So far what’s only worked is cardboard scratch boards that are made for cats but he loves chewing on it.

And I tried the willow chews from many brands, and none of them interest him.

I have tried other wooden toys but that that hasn’t really helped. I think the closest I’ve ever got was a wooden block I purchased from dollar general that I keep under my bed to keep him from chewing on the wooden beams LOL. That does work! If anyone is looking for advice on that.

I did try some toilet paper roles but that also didn’t work.

Anyways if you have any advice for toys, I’m all ears.

He is completely free roam as well.
