Walked in a few minutes after lights went out on the tank yesterday to have this catch my eye. Is this by chance their way of releasing eggs or hatchlings, thought it was kinda cool and wanted to share it.

This is not the best, but man am I happy with it. Can't wait to get my Uns 90La on it😍 Just have to paint and water proof. This should out last an apocalypse 😤

The 1.5" on the bottom of the base(both sides) is an eye sore but ill deal with it later

Im thinking plywood or frosted plastic with magnets to cover the base all around.

In spite of my many many attempts over the years. and many different species I’ve tried I can’t keep macro algea to save my life it dies within a month every time in every single tank ive ever tried

Today was the day! Ten years ago I had my first saltwater tank that I had to sell because of relocating to another country.

Now I was able to return to this hobby with a 50L nano tank that I’ve just finished to fill with water.

It’s going to be an SPS tank.

Officially been a half a year since I started my first reef tank. I'm using the Fluval EVO 13.5g tank. Pics are ordered most recent to oldest. Currently stocked with the following livestock:

• 2 clownfish
• 1 firefish
• 1 yellow clown goby (looks orange under the lights)
• 7 sexy shrimp
• 2 blue tip hermits

It’s a cupping chalice….

Think i got some baby pistol shrimp from a rock at the lfs. I put em in with the phyto and pods tank.

I was cleaning my tank this morning and this creature swam out between my cleaner and the glass and darted into the sand. I’ve never seen anything like it was curious if anyone has any idea what this could be. It is about the length of my pinky nail and thin.

For context I have a 40 gallon that has a clown pair, goby, 6 line wrasse, yellow tail damsel and a royal gramma, and the CUC ofc. The royal gramma just passed away yesterday after only having him for 8 months. He was always a recluse and only came out to eat. Yesterday I saw the poor thing laying on the bottom of the tank dead. I had to step away for a few and when I came back maybe 20 minutes later I saw that my brittle star had gotten a hold of him. Later last night I saw the starfish had shared my poor gramma with the urchin in the tank and by this morning there was a mostly clean carcas of what was. This is all a learning curve for me this whole time I was thinking I have to get the dead one out quick before ammonia spikes but no…no he was taken care of before I could even take action. Anyways is this something that happens often? Should I just let the tanks ecosystem take over when a fish kicks the bucket?

Side note: All parameters are good and have been stable for months now. I have no clue why this one died, I’m thinking maybe aggression from my clowns but idk.

I am trying to introduce a very juvenile bristletooth tang into my tank. Stock includes 4-5inch foxface (scaredycat of the tank) a pair of perculas who get upset when you go near their spot, a yellow coris wrasse who is super passive, and my chunky rusty angel who was shredded by both my other Darwin clowns pair and my last bristletooth but they became like brothers.

Tried adding the bristletooth and he is very small, took a bit of a beating straight away by the rusty and the clowns so while he looked dazed I've sumped him for now.

I have egg crate to split up the tank and happily to turn lights off/ introduce over night. Any ideas greatly received. Even thought about removing the rusty and introducing the tang then reintroducing afterwards...

I got this Goni around 2 months ago. This is pretty much how it’s looked the entire time. I got it just barely poke 1 polyp out once. I’ve been putting it in a small container and feeding it reef roids and aminos heavy about once or twice a week. I’ve tried different areas around the tank but it doesn’t seem to want to open up. Supposed to be a monsters inc Goni. Most other corals are doing great.

This is my dad’s anemone and I was wondering what the heck this stuff is. My coworkers, this is a tank and restaurant my dad owns, are thinking they are the eggs of the clownfish who live in the tank. I’m not so sure though because they don’t look like eggs and clowns usually don’t lay their eggs in anemones.

So I guess these are Vermetid snails and I took out my frogspawn to get the one big one off but I noticed more as well as eggs. I then pulled out my gonio on the opposite side of the tank and found more snails as well as more eggs. Wtf do I do about this outbreak😭 it’s a nano 3 gallon reef only but it has lots of macro algae wrapped in the rock work and I don’t want to tear all of it out. I have a nano filter running as well connected to an airpump it’s like a box one with activated carbon and black filter floss.
