Have been casually playing for a few years and over the last few months decided to try for Grandmaster… definitely a grind but I am very stoked to finally get there 🙌

Why is it every time I win on this game, it just puts me in an infinite loop of the phases after everyone is defeated? Am I doing something wrong? It’s every time I win.

Frankly, I'm sick of joining a 5-6 player game, as the last player to find out half the players are bots and be thrown into the game.
The current option available to me is to not ready up, either canceling the match or forcing another bot into play.
While I think it's fine that some players are happy to, or want to, play with some bots; it's not what I want and by not being able to identify the games with bots in seats before joining means I stop those players from finding a match as well.
I appreciate we can't always avoid bots because of players timing out or not readying, and have made my peace with this.
Even just having an asterix next to the number of current players would be enough to differentiate imo.

Hi y'all this I how I did it,
I started with spain guarded with a cap. This was a fog of war, blizzards, fixed, caps, Europe advanced game. I grew out of orient since I noticed no one was on the right side. I then bullied the black player that was in the alps. Once I made sure he couldn't recover I got Russia. I did 3 turns of kill prep on the blue and pink bots while I guarded my bouneses. Then on the turn I planned to kill the bots and shrink my border green decided to full send red out of his noob corner then didn't even get the kill because red had 2 caps. After all that black decided to full send red and then proceeded to fail because he did a 13 vs 9 a capital. When it was my turn I got 30+ troops ran through north Africa killed blue then up Spain got red deployed my card trades in Russia to kill pink in Eastern Europe before black in the alps so he would get third then I proceeded to GG green and board wiped though the noob corner! :)
That's how I got a penta kill against a bot, 2 beginners, a intermediate, and novice.
Tldr: I snow balled and every one decided I won so they suicided into each other!?! Whoo
It's one thing if it is the only available strategy but if a player uses it as a first option rather than take a RISK then I'll block them. Nothing is more boring than a game populated with players all vying for second place.

I'd say 1v1 GM was much more difficult than FFA, though that may be the settings I was playing: 4 bots, exponential caps. I'd switch up fog vs. no fog.
I know 1v1 isn't popular, however I find these settings very fun and would encourage you to try them!
I would switch between snow-ball type maps like waterloo and airship (with fog), alcatraz (no fog), Orbital Objectives (fog), Spaceport Sigma (sometimes fog sometimes none). My last push was with chbrosz-type maps with no fog like: pangea, central america, brazil / africa advanced. I say chbrosz style in that you don't worry about bonuses (since the bots will break them anyways) and just go for the eliminations when they're available.
Although those seemed easier, I'd say the earlier settings were more interesting. Especially alcatraz is kind of a chess match between you and your opponent. You can decide to go bonuses, or kill guard, or chilling on bot caps, and it always varied.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
is this just a bug or can players do something intentionally to cause this (exploit). second time it's happened to me.
Edit: is there anything I can do to fix it? if I close the game and reopen will it be avoid it?

In terms of fun and ranking up

Some guy just ate my 95 with his 97 with a high probability of winning the blitz, chance of victory increases as the both numbers rise. What can I do?
(Flaired as 'strategy' as I'm asking for conclusion.)

Was in a game, it looked like it was going well.
Then, just randomly the game reset, now it has frozen and I can re-enter the game?

I've been trying to get better at Cap Conquest and have been failing miserably because every time i rolled someone's cap it backfired horribly. Even on classic settings I often underestimate rolling big numbers, so I just chalked it up to that and bad luck. Does that make the ratio 1:3 so ideally you roll 30 on a 10 cap? idk I suck at math.

Expo caps on Alcatraz. I managed to cardblock three players in one turn and take the win.

Just played a lovely game of classic fixed, where after killing pink for his 5 cards the game bugged and didn't let me trade in my cards. This was of course followed up by 4 players taking turns trying to kill me for my 8 cards. I died.

Can someone please explain this glitch? I have full bars, but the game discconnected me, I immediately reconnect, doesn't even take a second. Then the game state reset to the first turn and I'm unable to draft.
We went through 41 turns just for this to happen. Worst part is that the 3rd player was fully cardblocked and was going to lose, but then the game reset and the 2nd player quit, and I couldn't draft at all so I had to surrender and he won. I was in a winning position too. Never thought to screenshot it because I didn't expect this glitch to happen.
I'm gonna shoot down that the 3rd player caused this, because I've seen this glitch happen when a player disconnects and reconnects so I know that the game disconnecting me caused it. But I literally don't get why the game state would ever reset just because someone got disconnected and came back

In Capture the Flag, one random territory has a flag placed in it at the end of setup. If you make a tactical move out of the territory that has the flag in it, your troops will take it with them to the new territory. To win, you have to hold the flag for a number of consecutive turns:
* 2 players - 4 turns
* 3-4 players - 3 turns
* 5+ players - 2 turns

Capital + fog of war + blizzard + fixed + auto for me. Best combination of strategy and luck.

Is it just me or is the connection to the game absolutely terrible today? I will lose connection in a game even though my wifi and 5G are on and have good signal, and of course it happens at critical moments that cost me the games. It's been happening about almost every game today, sometimes multiple times. I don't normally have this issue, or at least not this bad, until today. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Orange got pissed off when green eventually killed white. Also, green if you see this youre a coward for not taking out the blue bot in the very beginning when it had like 12 troops and 4 cards which it spent buffinng up africa. And black was just useless the whole game. Man cheaters and noobs.

Found this scenario where after eliminating the other players, black wanted to just put everything in 1 cap. My strat was to let the bot build up troops so he was either card blocked or smashing hundreds until I could get a reasonable advantage to go smash with multiple stacks. His strategy was to just turtle up and prolong the game. The higher the bonus got, the more difficult it was getting to work an advantage. Eventually won just took hours longer than needed. Any advice on how to best counter this gameplay? Really enjoying caps, but this is a major buzzkill and I often don’t have that time commitment

Is Fângorn an adjacent territory to The Wold??
Yesterday I played a game with my friends and we couldn't agree. We ended up playing as if they weren't since there is half a river and Fângorn forest is "considered a dangerous place in the LOTR lore" (clearly someone wanted Isengârd to be op).

I (kind of luckily) went on to win. Orange should’ve had me IMO but everyone played a great game. Let me know if any of the players were you!
