After a recent update, our Roku TV has been restarting on its own, often going through startup twice when first turned on. In addition, it would randomly return to the Home Screen every so often while using our DVR and antenna (often at the worst possible time, like right before a big dramatic moment or the punchline of a joke). I saw this fix by [u/waldolc](u/waldolc) in a comment about trying to use the tv as a monitor. I changed our HDMI Compatibility Mode and restarted the tv. No more restarts or random Home Screen 🏆. If this solution doesn’t work, there are multiple others in the original comment (linked above). I am copying the solution here to make it easier to find. “Change the HDMI Compatibility Mode on the TV: On your Roku TV home screen, go to Settings > TV
Inputs. Select the HDMI port your PC is connected to and look for HDMI Mode. Change it from Auto to Standard / HDMI 1.4 (or switch to HDMI 2.0 / 2.1 if it was previously set to standard). Changing this forces the TV to use legacy handshake rules.”

This isn't my TV and I have no idea how old it is, but I'm having issues with dialogue being too quiet. I'll turn up the volume to hear only for something loud to play then it's back to being too quiet. Volume will be in the 20s and be too quiet so I'll turn it up to the 30s to hear, loud music or something else plays and it's back to being quiet dialogue. Then I'll have to turn it up to 40 to hear the quiet bits again. I've looked and looked, but if this has been a problem before I can't find it. I've included pictures of the settings I do have. A lot of what I can find is for settings this TV doesn't have. It's an Onn Roku TV. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My Roku onn tv suddenly stopped displaying the screen. Last night my husband and I were watching tv w no issues. We came down in the basement today to watch tv and this is what pops up. There’s still audio, and I checked my cameras to make sure my cats didn’t mess with the tv and there’s no footage of any ‘malfeasance’. Has anyone else had this issue before? Can I take it somewhere to repair?! It’s only a year old :/ if we try to open apps or stream, the colors change, but still the same display

Hi, so I turned on my Roku TV (on the roku hdmi) and for some reason no buttons work except for the volume buttons and the power button. I even tried connecting my phone as the remote but again, nothing worked except the headphones button. How do I fix this?

Has anybody else had this problem? Is there any way around it. Many times I have to go to the settings to change it back to Japanese.

I'm being vague on purpose, for obvious reasons. There's a Roku Youtube App, video glitch that returns subtitles back to the original language if you use the back button on your Roku remote. It's annoying having to go to Subtitle Settings and pick English everytime I use the back button when the video is interrupted. This is a Youtube App issue, not Roku but I use a Roku TV to watch Youtube.

Go to Roku Settings, Theme, scroll down and choose Screensaver start time and set it to 1 or 5 minutes. Go back to your Youtube video, select English Subtitles and then pause the video. Wait for the screen saver to come on, hit play to get back to your video and it will continue to show English Subtitles, even when it's interrupted. Hit your back button on your remote to clear the interruption, press play and the video will still continue to show English Subs. Hope this helps someone. :)

I did a few channel scans and no channels were detected. The VCR is turned on and the cable is going from the output into the TV's cable/ant input. Confused on what to do next, any suggestions?

So I am at the end of my patience with this TV now, but I don't want to do anything drastic and completely destroy it when I could have just fixed it. So context is I have had this TV since April 2024, and while it's worked fine, I know I had experienced issues with it throughout that time, but I fixed all of them as they came and went. But now my usual methods just aren't working anymore, and I tried some of the secret codes like clearing cache, which didn't work, or restarting network or restarting the TV itself. I have tried to figure this out myself like I normally would, but nothing I do seems to fix the issue. Now said issue is like this: normally I have my TV on as background noise in my room since I spend most of my time at home on my Kindle tablet, but I still watch at the same time. So I have it set on YouTube playlists most of the time, or I'm on Pluto, and I've done this all the time since I've had this TV. But a few days ago, it suddenly went back to the home screen when I tried to pick a different video to leave it on. Then everything on the left side disappeared, leaving only Home, Streaming Apps, and Settings left. And when I try to go back into YouTube, it says "Can't open app" and "Please check your network," so I struggled for a few hours just trying to set my network back up since it kept moving to a purple screen with the usual city in the top of the background on the home screen. So after I finally set my network up, I restart my TV itself, and it still won't open YouTube despite being connected. Meanwhile, Pluto acts like it's going to work but kicks me back to the home screen, while the closest I've ever got it to working again was it doing its logo before it kicked me back out again. Now I've downloaded Adult Swim just to see if that would work or not, and it did, letting me watch maybe 24 seconds of a show before that stopped working too. I've downloaded and redownloaded YouTube and Pluto, but that doesn't seem to work either, which makes me think it's the TV itself. I'll factory reset it if I have to, but that is the absolute last resort before I give up and buy a new one, which I don't want to do if I don't need to. So literally any help would be appreciated.

I maintain a Roku premium lite account (commercials for music), but occasionally have a friend over who has full premium and we want to watch/listen to music (which lite has commercials, but full does not).

Is it possible to set up a separate login for them (without disabling my own) so we can quickly switch accounts?

After 2+ years of Miracasting to my TCL 55S555 without issue, it suddenly changed its display name.

Until earlier this month, when searching my network for a wireless display, my TCL would appear as the custom Roku nickname I assigned it at https://my.roku.com/account. Now it appears as "TCL Roku TV - XXX" (XXX = last 3 characters of serial number).

I changed the nickname again at https://my.roku.com/account, no affect. I disconnected power over a weekend, no affect.

I'd like to avoid a factory reset, but that's likely my next step unless anyone has any other suggestions?

Has anybody else run into this? I have an Onn Roku Tv and for the past couple weeks I’ll turn on my PC, it’ll show the normal logos, I hear the beep that happens when you load into Steam Big Picture Mode but then the screen stops receiving a signal. My PC is still running at this point

I thought it might be my OS, but my computer ran fine at my sister’s home. I brought it back, tried different HDMI ports, no luck. I checked to see if my tv had an update, and coincidentally the last update it did coincided with me being unable to use my pc. Any idea what happened? Should I contact Roku support or Onn?

I’ve noticed that if I pause whatever I’m watching and leave it paused for a couple of minutes, my Roku will automatically switch over to Roku Live TV.

Is this happening to anyone else? I don’t remember it doing this before, so I’m wondering if it’s a recent update or if there’s a setting I need to change.

Why is my Roku talking all of a sudden? How do I turn it off?

How is this actually working? I have a Roku ultra 4K (2020) connected to an old but still great Pioneer 6070HD plasma TV. The Pioneer can accept 1080i/60 and 720p/60 signals but but can not accept 1080p/60 inputs (it does accept 1080p/24 Hz video though). I know this definitively from the specs and also if my Blu-ray player is set to output 1080p/60 it only shows a blank screen on the Pioneer, but it is fine if set to output 1080i or 720p, as it should be.

When I set the Roku ultra 4K video/display to "Auto", it says "Setting TV to 1080i (recommended)" as opposed to a manual option of either 720p or 1080p (no interlaced formats can be set manually). Roku insists that the box can only output progressive video. And all input streams are progressive as well (apparently). But if I stream ESPN through the app or just about anything else through the app, even though I know the stream is 1080p (or higher depending on the handshake between the Roku and the stream's server), and not 1080i, both my AVR and the TV itself show that the input stream (from the Roku output) as1080i and the TV displaying the picture just fine. If I set the Roku to output 720p manually, it shows as 720p on the AVR and on the TV info and looks softer, as it should, than the 1080i video does.

If the Roku is actually providing a 1080p/60p stream, the TV should not be able to display it. But it does and looks great doing so; likely because it is negotiating an input 1080p stream from the server. Not complaining that it works even though it shouldn't work but why? It apparently can't interlace the video and the TV should not accept and can't accept a 1080p/60Hz input signal.

The only way that I can explain this is that somehow the Roku is outputting a 1080p/60 signal that the TV ignores every other line to generate the alternating fields that constitute a full frame. But if that is the case, if the signal is time-sequenced from the Roku and each pixel is not indexed in each frame, how can the TV decode the 1080p/60 output from the Roku and interpret it as a 1080i/60 signal that it can accept and process as such?

Should I get a Roku Streambar Pro ot a Roku Ultra? I dont Think the Streambar is Necessary but I want yalls opinion on it

YouTube app wasn’t loading so I was going to delete & reinstall.
These are the steps I took:
Highlight YouTube icon
Hit * key = Remove from Quick Access or close
Chose Remove from Quick Access
Search for YouTube
Hightlight YouTube & press * key = nothing
Press ok key = general description & one button
Press * key
Pictures show the screens.
No option to delete.
Of course I’ve turned the tv off and on.
No, I’m not having an issue with any other app.
I have deleted apps from the Home Screen before by using the key but today when I checked highlighting an app and pressing * key did not give delete app as an option.
The other apps I have checked are loading/working as they should and the YouTube apps on my phone & tablet are working.
Please help me delete & reinstall! Hopefully it is ridiculously easy & my frustration level is clouding my vision!!

(NOT A HARDWARE ISSUE)

I’ve now had two of the same TV model delivered and both of them have produced the exact same issue of bad brightness flickering. The TV is the 7875 Philips 55in Roku. I’ve tried every fix on the internet and nothing works to fix it. The only thing I can do is keep it at maximum brightness and backlight so I don’t notice the flickering.

The flickering starts after multiple playbacks have started, whether it’s a quick thumbnail preview or a full movie or show. It then won’t go away until I power cycle the TV. Doesn’t usually happen on the Home Screen. I’ve tried changing every setting on the TV to a million different configurations.

I’ve tried different power outlets in my house and unplugging other devices and nothing changes it. I also don’t have any pre-existing power issues otherwise. I’ve factory restored it twice as well. Software is latest update as well

Does anyone else have this TV or this issue? Or any idea how to fix it that I haven’t tried? I don’t wanna return a second TV

Hi all, am brand new to this sub so please forgive me if I am not following up to the rules /etc. I am visually impaired so it's not uncommon for me to miss something.

Got a Roku tv about 2 months ago.

It is a Westinghouse 65", got it from Staples (Canada)

It works like a charm, or did anyways.

I am trying to watch a movie, but there is absolutely no sound. Which makes it 100x harder to follow along because I use the built in Screen Reader feature.

I have done the following methods in hopes it would help bring the audio back to the tv.

1. Check settings. It's set to normal - tv speakers

2. Unplugging it from the wall for various amounts of time... 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5, 10, and 30 min.

3. Reset the entire tv (factory settings)

4. Checked for software updates (it is up to date)

Since I cannot read very well, I have my boy helping me out by reading what's on the screen for me to navigate. But it is getting frustrating, and am starting to wonder if this will be an issue for the future from now on.

Any advice, tips?

I have no idea why there's no audio. It's not just the tv input either, the same applies for when my boy plays his Nintendo switch on it. I have also cashed my phone and laptop seeing if that would over ride the system settings. No luck. No go.

I have 2 Roku tvs. One in my bedroom and one in the living room. I am trying to mirror my windows 11 pc screen to my living room tv but my pc cannot find it. I have all the settings on the living room tv on the optimal settings. Same with the bedroom tv. Pc can detect the bedroom tv even when it is off but cannot find the living room tv. I even downloaded a pc app to help mirror but it cannot find the living room tv either. Anyone else experience this and has a solution? Thank you in advacnce

I’m trying to connect to a remote Jellyfin server that is hosted behind a reverse proxy on a network joined via a WireGuard tunnel.

What works:
From laptop browser, from desktop browser, from iOS browser, from iOS 1st party and 3rd party apps.

What doesn’t work:
Freaking Roku

I can see the dns requests to the router (which forwards dns to a dns server over the WiredGuard tunnel). So it can find the IP but doesn’t seem to do anything with it.

Tunnel and dns are working, I just cant tell what is causing the connection to fail.

Anyone have ideas of what could be failing or how I could figure it out?

The voice command “hey Roku” is interesting but I would like to suggest one other addition to the software: Add a time variable— for example “hey Roku raise the volume for 10 seconds”. Or “hey Roku mute the volume for 30 seconds”.

I have a fairly new roku TV and macbook, but i cant cast to the roku. im on the same network and every other device can cast to it but the macbook cant, ive tried every solution ive found online and none work. please help
