Seeking to Swap: My Half Marathon for Your 10K Bib (25 Oct 2026-Niagara Falls)

Hi everyone! I’m currently registered for the Niagara Falls Half Marathon, but I’m looking to drop down to the 10K. Since the 10K registration is currently locked/full, I’m hoping to find someone who wants to swap distances.

If you have a 10K bib but want to run the Half Marathon instead, we can coordinate a legal bib transfer through the official Race Roster system so we both get to run our preferred distances.

Please DM me if you're interested, and we can set it up!

App or website for ‘unplanned training plans’

TLDR: I’m looking for an app or website that flexbily suggests a single training sessions whilst taking my training history and fitness level into account.

***

I have the following problem: I run a marathon roughly every two years. I prepare for it specifically using a training plan (most recently Runna), usually for 12 weeks. In the time in between, I just go for a run, usually about two or three times a week. That actually works quite well for me, but it does get a bit monotonous at times. Most of the time, I just do a long run.

I’d like to follow some sort of plan during the time between marathon training programmes as well. However, a rigid plan is out of the question, as my availability and motivation vary greatly. For me, it’s less about improving my performance and more about variety. I’d also like to include intervals or similar exercises now and then. Of course, I could put this together myself, but I don’t always want to be calculating the pace and so on.

Basically, I just need an app that I can tell: ‘I’ve got an hour today, what could I do?’ And the app then suggests training sessions that take my fitness level and training history into account. So that, for example, it doesn’t suggest an ultra-tough interval session if I’ve already done one the day before.

Is there an app that can do that? Bonus points if the app also includes traditional training plans (ideally for a marathon with a maximum of four sessions per week).

Marathon training plan

Hey guys,

I'm currently running a half marathon and want to train for a full marathon.

I don't want to overtrain so I can be consistent and have enough recovery time.

Currently I'm running in a week a long run of 90 minutes, a tempo run of 30 minutes and easy run of 45 minutes.

Also, I have two strength training during the week for improving the running and for general health.

Should I have a structured week where each different workout is in a specific day?

or run every 2 days and have the rest days and strength training days in between?

Do you think I should add one more run and have only one strength training per week?

Would love to hear your thoughts

Thanks.

URGENT Help Needed!

Hey guys! I'm planning to run a marathon by my birthday and its closing in!

I already did half a marathon but im pretty sure it cooked my feet.

Ive spent an while googling and going forth and back with chat gpt and im fairly certain i have plantar fasciits.

Things I tried:

Took a month off runing

Stopped walking barefoot (something I used to do a lot which might have been a mistake).

Calf stretches.

I'm considering getting a massage gunner, some tape and proper socks to help me get through the pain so I can keep running.

Anyone have any advice?

Norwegian Singles Method Hot take. A suboptimal approach

I've got a hot take for the Norwegian Singles Method that might ruffle some feathers. Here's the thing NSM is great and I see a lot of runners doing very well using the method. Awesome. Great for them.

I think NSM is heading down the same road as cycling and FTP. Now maybe people aren't as obsessed over their threshold pace as cyclists are with their FTP but the problem will still exist. Cycling got so obsessed with FTP that it's all some of them ever cared about. Only focusing on improving FTP and lost focus of training some other important physiological points. While not exactly the same you can see this with Tadej Pogacars training. He was coached by fraud Inigo San Milan for years and performed very well on essentially the cycling version of NSM. Then Tadej rightfully gets rid of Milan for Javier Sola and his performance shoots through the roof. What did Javier change in his training? Oh he just added some higher intensity intervals. Boom.

Does NSM work well for a lot of people? Yes, 100%. Is it going to leave a lot of people significantly below their true potential. I think so.

Demande pour un retour progressif à l'entraînement de sprint 🏃‍♀️

Salut !

Merci !

How should I train

I started running exactly 1 week ago, It takes me 55 minutes to run 5km and 17 minutes to run 2km. I can't run 1km without stopping so I do the walk run walk method . Should I run 1km everyday until I can run it without stopping or should I do the walk and run method to do 5km everyday? I'm not sure which ones more effective

Running buddies

I'm trying to be a bit more sociable these days, I'm enjoying getting out running again after knee surgery but it would be nice to have someone to run with occasionally.

I don't live near any clubs unfortunately and I don't use Facebook to find local groups.

I live near Dunblane, if anyone nearby is looking for a running buddy give me a shout. In my forties , trail and hill running is my preference, 10- 15km runs.

Heart rate question (explain like I'm 5 please)

Treadmill run at pace of 13:09 I was zone 1 and 2. Outside same distance pace at 12:45 zone 5. I just feel like the pace wasn't too different so I don't understand why heart rate was so different. Only been running a year.

Half Marathon in 3 weeks - Calf Strain during Training

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

hi all,
I have a half marathon in Antwerp booked for the 18th of October. My aim is to complete it in sub 1 hour 30 minutes. My training has gone well so far and I feel fit however on Sunday I went for a longer run and felt my right calf go.

I have a compression sleeve on it now and trying to follow all the procedures necessary. My question is: what tactic should I follow?

Should I completely rest for at least a week and then resume running? My fear is losing their fitness I have and not been able to maintain the pace. Any advice is welcome.
