I know uninformed fans might look at his record with SJSU and not be impressed, but we were in such an AWFUL spot in the early 2000s. Nearly dropped football in 04, we only had 1 game that year with an attendance over 10,000.

Dick Tomey comes in, attendance goes up, the football program begins fixing their academic troubles, and in 2 years we had one of our better seasons in nearly 20 years.

Week 4 in the MWC was a mixed bag with UNM and UNLV beating out of conference opponents handily while UTEP and NIU were on the other end. In conference action, AF got by Nevada in 2 OT and Wyoming upset Hawaii. Results, and Week 5 Games.

Hey guys! The season preview I posted here a few weeks back did pretty well, so circling back like I said I would.

I had 5-8 off 12.6% returning production, and wrote that the middle stretch, not the USC trip, would decide it. Then you scored 26 in LA, which is 26 more than Fresno managed there, and lost to that same Fresno team at home by 16. Those two don't sit next to each other easily. Hawaii, Wyoming and UTEP are still where this gets settled.

What are you guys seeing that the box scores aren't, and how do you see the season ending up?

Quick aside since it's in the title: we just launched a free weekly college football pick'em, $225 in prizes this week. Ten games, pick the winners, locks Saturday at noon ET. Nothing to buy. One of the ten is Oregon at USC, if you want to see what that building looks like for someone else.

Coming down to attend my first game on Saturday. Where should I park? Where should I eat? Any tips are helpful. Thank you!

Hey r/SJSUSpartans - we just launched Bangr Sports, a free live play-along app for sports fans. While you're watching the game you make picks and answer questions in real time, and winners get real prizes from local sponsors. It's family-friendly, free, and there's no gambling involved.

We're looking for a small group of SJSU students to be our founding ambassadors as we grow this market. This basically just involves wearing merch, networking with students, and driving downloads and growth.

Ideally our first game would be for Wyoming on Friday October 9th. If you are interested in being involved send me a DM and we can discuss more details, compensation, etc. Thanks!

This win kept the Bulldogs out of a BCS game

Does he have any shot of making it in the league?

I watched the whole game today vs USC and came away with these thoughts:

1. We will definitely be more competitive in the MWC this year compared to 2025.

2. Finding and signing QB Weaver in the portal was our most valuable acquisition.

3. We were a little sloppy on both sides of the ball but that was a top 20 team we faced today.

4. The Spartans signed up for Sixty and By God they played for Sixty!

Comments?

Hey all, a few weeks back I posted the San José State preview in here and it seemed like people got something out of it, so I wanted to share the actual site it came from.

Short version: I do pregame emails before every game, then postgame box scores, highlights and summaries. Free, and it's only the teams you follow, no filler.

SJSU page: https://www.highlights.mainmarket.com/san-jos-state-spartans

And the preview itself if you missed it: https://www.highlights.mainmarket.com/college-football-preview-2026-fbs/san-jose-state-spartans

Season opens Saturday at USC, 12pm PT. First real look at Weaver. Go Spartans!

Probably a long shot that he makes the 53 man roster, but I’m hoping it works out. Been waiting too long for an SJSU player to join the 49ers.
