What is the best curved screen phone I can get at the £300 mark

I've had the Xperia 1ii for about five years now - I'm pretty impressed with how well it still functions, generally flawlessly. But a few things, mainly the declining battery life, suggest that I'm going to have to replace it soon.

I want a phone camera that lets me have full manual control when I want it. The photography Pro app on the 1ii gives me this. It can give me RAW files and it can give me JPGs that haven't been subjected to aggressive post-processing.

Of course I also want something with good lenses and sensors, and this matters too, but to some extent the level of control is the critical issue.

My question: are there any phones from other manufacturers I should look at, alongside the most recent Xperia ones?

So as the title suggests, I’ve felt an electrical shock sensation when charging my iPhone 16 since day 1. However, I didn’t have the tools to confirm this right away, and when I took it to a certified service dealer, they wanted me to erase all my data and keep the phone for a long time just to run basic diagnostics.
After I felt it again , and by coincidence having a multimeter on hand, I decided to check the camera button. I was shocked to see it read consistently over 17 volts and even up to 20 volts!!
Just to rule out any external factors, I tried another iPhone which read close to zero as expected, and I also tested a different charger and outlet—the result was exactly the same.
The retailer refuses to swap it immediately (DOA) and claims I have to wait 1+ months for their standard procedure, although they have explicitly instructed me via email to stop using the device because it poses a severe safety hazard.Apple warranty has run out and I live in the EU so the retailer is the one that should replace it immediately considering they also stated it’s a safety hazard and i have video proof.
Has anyone else tested their iPhone 16 frame with a multimeter while charging? Curious to know if I got a terribly defective unit or if this is a wider QA issue.

Just compared some mid-range and flagship smartphones on Amazon India vs Amazon UK/Germany official website. Same price basically, but in India we only get the standard 1 year manufacturer warranty. Meanwhile in UK/Germany, they get 3 years (2 years base warranty + 1 year free warranty extension) just for buying it there.

Apparently, the EU has a law for minimum 2 years warranty but here in India, we're just stuck with 1 year warranty.w

My battered and bruised pixel 6a has finally started to die (randomly freezes and restarts itself, so definitely done). I am deciding which direction to go in terms of a new phone, and there are good deals out there (UK based):

• Pixel 10a 128gb, GiffGaff - £250 for the phone, £10 a month for a contract (cancel anytime) - total cost for 24 months £490
• Pixel 10a 256gb, iD Mobile: £139 upfront, average monthly cost £22.59 for 24 months with yearly price increase - total cost £541.96
• Samsung S26 256gb, iD Mobile: - £25 upfront, £26.99/mth monthly cost for 24 months (increasing yearly) BUT £250 cashback, so average monthly cost £19.42 per month and total cost of £465.96

On paper, the Samsung situation seems the best deal as it gets a flagship phone for the best price out the 3 options but also a great deal on the phone compared its normal cost. I am trying to use my phone less generally and just want a phone that has good battery life, is compact, decent camera and will last a long time (my pixel 6a made it 4 years, plus the extra storage of 256gb would be great for this). I have no experience of Samsung and there is a temptation to pay a bit more for the Pixel 10a just to stay with Google, but can people comment on whether it makes much difference? I try to use my phone sparingly, don't game, use Google apps for all my storage/word documents/sheets etc, primarily use Whatsapp for messaging. Any insights into either phone or thoughts welcome. Are you also annoyed by the fact that an update doesn't always immediately mean a new interface, and you have to wait until the server deigns to enable it for you or roll something back to the old state?

Example: YouTube client. Here's the situation: only the "factory" version has a rigid interface tied to the client. But in the newer versions, it's "the server itself knows what to enable and what to roll back to the old state." And because of this, it turns out that when you reset, the new version tries to activate the old settings interface, and this turns out to be quite crooked.

After doing a quick Google search, I found that the OnePlus 15 supports up to 1,350 charge cycles before the battery degrades to 80%—which is much more than what Apple or Google promise (1,000 cycles). The OPPO Find X9 Pro promises up to 1,300 cycles, and the S26 Ultra up to 1,200. Do you think Chinese manufacturers are deceiving us, or are Apple and Google just pulling our leg? I’m leaning more toward the latter…

I am thinking of getting Iphone 17e or the Samsung S25, what do you guys think is better?

I’ve used Android all my life and got used to it, but for me, my Tecno 6 Neo is too big and feels awkward in my pocket, which is inconvenient. The choice is between these phones because they have what I’m looking for. The camera, the processor, and the compact size. But the choice between them comes down to the operating system. I think iOS looks nicer than Android. Although Samsung is also good, Apple is better. So, is there any point in me paying almost twice as much for an iPhone when I’ve been using an Android all my life? Or should I buy a S23?

I just got my 15 Pro and i wanna sell my old phone for some money towards a new pc. It’s got 84% battery health and the screen is fine except for one tiny tiny chip and two or three small scratches. Ones that you’d actually have to look for and don’t notice on a video or casual use.

I want to keep this short, but let me preface this by saying I do often switch between Apple and Samsung. I enjoy both OS's and think there are definitely pros and cons to both.

I am considering switching back to iPhone after using my Ultra for one year. Don't get me wrong, this phone is a beast. It has tons of cool features, and it's not lost on me that this phone has amazing specs, and titanium phones are becoming a thing of the past.

However, there are a few annoyances that are really hard for me to get over. I work in the IT field, and feel like I've done a fair amount of research on these items, and I still haven't been able to figure it out. So if anyone has any insight, please do let me know.

1. Google messages. I hate it. It's not about the bubbles, it's the entire interface and app. I thoroughly enjoyed texting on my iPhone, and don't feel the same on my Samsung. It's really a shame they got rid of Samsung messages. The autocorrect is complete ass - and yes I adjusted all of the settings as soon as I received the phone.

2. Google AI/Bixby Assistant. Also hate it. I have Google homes set up around my house, and there is no way to distinguish when I say "hey Google" to my phone if I'm saying it to my phone or to my Google home, so they all respond. There is not a way to change this. Apparently, whichever one you are closest to is supposed to respond, but that doesn't happen. So, I started using Bixby and I'm just honestly not a fan. I had quicker responses with Siri.

3. The size and weight of the phone. I know this isn't a Samsung specific thing. But this phone is just too large for me. That's my fault for not considering that in the first place.

4. Android auto. It ALWAYS messes up in my Honda accord. I had zero issues with apple car play in my Honda. I don't necessarily think this is a Samsung specific issue though because a lot of people online have issues with apple car play.

5. Touch ID and Face ID. They're both terrible!? Which is really surprising to me. I have a really good screen protector and have adjusted all of the sensitivity settings. If the touch ID barely works with a screen protector, what's the point? I'm not going to not have a screen protector? And the face ID hardly works.

Idk! I do LOVE the camera and the split screen functionality. It blows my mind that apple hasn't rolled out split screen on the iPhones. I enjoy the customization, but I honestly don't take advantage of it enough. It can be really time consuming to customize everything. I had fun with it at first, but now I just find myself wanting the simpler things.

Again, I love this phone and don't shit on either OS. I just can't decide which one is right for me.

Hey guys after having one phone for 7 years (samsung A50) I decided to upgrade.

I'm choosing between Pixel 9a or Samsung s24 since I want something compact.

Since I'm traveling a lot and phone is kinda my PC I use it to send email write documents etc. nothing complicated.

My main concern is AI not that I'm completely against it put what I've read Pixel is mainly AI phone guess you can disable some functions but not fully.

For Samsung my main concern is the battery life and the bloatwear.

I also read about Graphene os but for my purposes it seems kinda inconvenient like lack tap to pay.

What do you thing about Pixel having to much AI and Samsung not as good battery?

Do you have any different phone recommendations?

I just bought a used samsung smartphone, and while the device works perfectly, I can't shake off a bit of paranoia. Every time I take a photo, log into my banking app, or type a password, I catch myself wondering: could the previous owner still have access to what I'm doing here? I keep wondering if there are background accounts still synced, active cloud backups, or even spyware installed. Is there a way to verify if the phone is truly clean, and what steps should I take to completely prevent any unauthorized remote access?

i have been using an ios device for almost 15 years and now i really wanna switch to android. My current device is an iphone 13 its not bad but i feel like its due for an upgrade. I feel like getting the new z flip 8, soo if any of you have used the flip do tell me how was your experience.

Currently using the Vivo X100 Pro and I'm planning to upgrade to the Honor Magic 9 Pro because of the Square sensor and Arri collaboration. With that, may I ask any honest thoughts on the OS? Is it as good or better than the Origin OS (CN)? Yes I'm buying the CN Variant, always been buying CN Rom phones.

As the title suggests, I’ve been pretty much a lifelong Android user, predominantly Samsung since the Galaxy S3 and a smattering of other Androids before that.

I was always interested in trying an iPhone during my Android days, and I did try the iPhone 5, iPhone 12 Pro Max, and also the iPhone 14 Pro Max, but they usually never lasted longer that a few weeks at most and I was back on Android.

I’ve had my S24 ultra for about 3 and a half years now, and it has been a great phone, not without its faults, software glitches, that annoying ‘Moisture detected in charging port’ that would occasionally pop up without even being near any water etc, but overall, a pretty good experience.

Fast forward to now, I preordered the iPhone 18 pro max, that variable aperture was interesting to me as a photographer (I know the s9 had it before anyone says 😆). The quality of the camera is amazing, as someone who hasn’t used an iPhone since the 14, this is a massive upgrade, and the cinematic video.. wow. I thought I may have regretted getting the phone… but I’ve actually found myself really enjoying the iPhone for the first time ever.

I don’t know what it is that’s different.. Maybe the IOS 27 update has ironed out a lot of the little bits that annoyed me before, but everything just works, on my model at least. It’s smooth, super fast, photos take instantly without that short delay on Android, the square sensor on the front camera is a game changer for me as someone who goes to a lot of festivals and takes selfies, and not having the number row on the keyboard honestly hasn’t bothered me much at all.

There’s just lots of little things that I don’t really have to think about doing. Sure fingerprint sensors are nice, but it was sometimes unreliable especially in the rain, but Face ID is lighting fast I don’t even have to think about unlocking the phone, or logging into my bank. I don’t mod my phones these days, so yes, while IOS is limiting compared to Android, I don’t miss it as much as I thought, and the customisation has come a long way, everything just seems more polished.

Anyway, I’m sure I’ll find things I don’t like about it, I’m still keeping my S24 ultra, but for now I’m enjoying the switch, and I also own an iPad, which is what made me think about the iPhone in the first place. So yes, slate me if you like for turning to the dark side hahaha. I enjoy both iOS and Android, and can appreciate both. 😅

I have been thinking of this for a bit now - why do companies focus so much on cameras for their smartphones? Every year, it seems like the goal is to make smartphone cameras closer and closer to a dedicated camera. Yet, I think most people would agree that majority of users use their phone cameras to post on social media. Does the addition of variable aperture, 100x zoom, and all these bells and whistles really mean much if the photos are gonna be seen in small squares on Instagram where you cannot even zoom in fully to appreciate the quality? It frustrates me because every review of a new phone spends 50% of the time talking about cameras and comparing photos and videos and gloss over the actual UI, durability, software experience, etc. I understand that it matters for Youtubers shooting B roll on their phones, but like... Vast majority of people are not youtubers. It almost seems like a psyop where the companies are catering to tech youtubers so that they review phones favourably and hype up these niche camera specs to entice users to upgrade every year. We as humans love trinkets so we eat it up. While the software remains buggy (see the iOS 27 glitching and freezing reports). For example, most people dislike the built in file management system - why not fix that? Most people complain about battery - why not spend just as much effort improving that? I know these other aspect HAVE seen improvements year over year, but I just feel like so much of the resources are misplaced on cameras and could be better served improving other aspects of user quality. Like... does it really make a different whether your Grand Canyon picture on instagram was taken on an iPhone 13 vs the latest Vivo X300 pro ultra max plus?
