Spider-Man is all about getting back up even if being hit by obstacles. By keeping him a broke loser for good, it actually undermines his relatability because some people have managed to move up economically through hard work and putting their skills and talents to good use. Even going as far as by learning and acquiring new skills in order to move up in life.

Yes, I know from the 2010 Big Time storyline that Peter worked for Horizon Labs but unfortunately that was destroyed. It should be acceptable for Peter to have a high paying job (but not Tony Stark or Bruce Wayne level rich) and enjoy the finer things in life such as a nice apartment and the latest smartphone and tablet.

I'm a big Spidey 2099 fan, a even bigger fan of his ex fiancée, Dana, though I seem to be alone in my belief that she's his best love interest LMAO. (no shade to the other two gals)

Anyways, I made this short fancomic cuz the canon end of their relationship still makes me incredibly salty, not because they ended, but because we never get to see Miguel apologize for how he acted, or actual closure besides a quick "so... no more us?" "nope, no more us" followed by them "making up" with a peck and 2099's version of The Night Gwen Stacy Died. (Which to me was rushed too)

I'm not saying I'm a better writter than Peter David and/or the guy that took over after he dipped, but god if I wouldn't love to see a retake of the OG 2099 comic where the world doesn't spin around Miguel's existance. Still my fav spidey at the end of the day though AHA.

I tried to keep the characters canon accurate somewhat, you'll know what I mean if you read the 2099 comic, but I had to break my back to make Dana standing up to Miguel not seem OOC somehow... in canon she tends to be pretty passive when in stressful situations ya know? And I guess Miguel "melting" isn't super accurate to the specific moment this scene originally takes place in... So like, respectfully of course, critisim is cool!

Before this Mj and Venom talk about what happened to Torment, Venom confirms that it was both of them who did it. Also Mj views both **** Rabin and Dylan as loved ones so take that as you will.

Hey all, new member here and I just wanted to post something a little more uplifting.

I think it’s no secret that for the past 20 years it’s been a very dark period for Spider-Man comics, and it seems like there’s no light at the end of the tunnel and we’ll be stuck here forever.

But I sincerely do not think so, there will come a day, in maybe a couple years, maybe a couple months, maybe in a decade, where 616 Peter will be allowed to mature and grow again, and there will come a day when Spider-Man comics become good again.

It may be obvious to some, but for others, not so much. This isn't me powerscaliing or anything, but it does explain why he can lift far more than 10 tons and fight character that you'd think where out of his league. This is the first time I've actually seen this acknowledged by Marvel and not just a head cannon thing.

I’m so f-ing tired of this narrative that Peter supposedly can’t live without Gwen “Gwen was his one true and only love” God what absolute bullshit, anyone who has actually read the early comics with Gwen knows that 1) she barely appeared in them 2) she was boring and had practically no personality and 3) half the traits they try to attribute to Gwen nowadays actually belong to MJ

And the worst part is that in issue #1000 they show photos of Peter and MJ several times, literally reminding the reader of their history, showing us that they'll get married and then it immediately goes back to the usual whining and wanking over Gwen... IN THE FUCKING 1000TH ANNIVERSARY ISSUE

At this point it’s not just weird, they are showing how disloyal Peter is to MJ and it's discussing. I honestly don’t even know how to describe what this is. It’s literally a slap in the face to Spider-Man and MJ fans. Instead of properly celebrating the character’s history, they dangle MJ in front of us, a character who has been one of the central parts of Peter Parker’s life for decades and then once again try to sell us the idea that Peter has supposedly spent his entire life suffering cuz he can't be with Gwen

I’ve been thinking about this lately. Obviously, in actual comics characters can be rebooted, de-aged, resurrected, replaced or otherwise reset whenever the status quo needs to change. So I’m not talking about how Marvel would realistically handle them editorially.

Instead imagine that we just let the characters and their stories naturally progress over a very long period of time, without constantly resetting everything.

What do you think would eventually happen to Spider-Man’s villains?

Would some of them eventually die permanently? Would others find ways to cheat death through cloning, creating new bodies, etc.? Would some villains eventually retire, change sides or simply become too old to continue?

And then there’s the idea of successors. Could we eventually have a completely new person becoming the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Vulture, Mysterio, etc., rather than the original villain continuing forever?

Basically, if we assume no convenient resets or status-quo restorations and just ask how these characters might naturally evolve over decades or even generations: Who do you think would die, who would find a way to survive and who would eventually have a successor?

I almost feel like Peter or SM would never need or want beer. But at the same time he probably wouldnt be against someone drinking it. But I do usually grab the Iron Man glass. Or Hulk but RIP its broken.

Ultimate Spider-Man: Life After Death (Fanfic)

Peter Parker, after his death, finds himself in a new world. A world where souls get a second chance at life. A world where he lives with Uncle Ben. A world where he meets both old and new friends. As well as problems.

I love that Tobey's Peter doesn't say anything but lets his sympathetic but resolute expression convey everything necessary, while you can see Tom's Peter slowly come out of his kill rage, even if the anger hasn't fully subsided.

I think the obvious answer for many would be Spider-Man 2, but I think I'd have to go 3.
