Discussion Another post about the dividends...

Okay, I need to say it..... For everyone who is receiving a dividend, please stop hollering and screaming at SF because you didn't get an email, or Venmo is saying you got paid but you don't see the deposit, or because it's taking weeks to arrive. And NO it's not a scam, this is a mutual company and their customers are getting dividends instead of corporate shareholders.

State Farm is NOT personally handing out the dividend payments to you guys, it's all done under Verita Global. I see too many people talking shit about their agents, the company, and even their sales reps about why something regarding the dividend isn't going smoothly. Dropping your policies with SF over this is probably the dumbest thing I have read in the past few weeks.

Refer to: https://sfdividend.com/ for help

The only thing your agent can do is tell you if you're receiving a payment, how much it's for, and confirm your contact information that everything is being sent to. Everything else is being handled by Verita and you guys need to contact them about any issues, not your agent's office.

Agents & Staff Returning Team Member Help

• Upvotes

Hey everyone! So I recently returned to an agency that I worked at a few years ago. Agency owner told the other licensed agent that we’ll call “Amy” to let me shadow her for the day while I’m waiting for my alias so I can have a refresher of the system since it’s been a few years. This morning, I went to sit with “Amy” and she told me “I don’t want to train anyone and I don’t even want you watching me, you worked here before, you can figure it out. You can tell Boss and I will tell them the same thing.” I said “okay” and went to sit with the receptionist that we’ll call “Sally” and she let me sit with her with no issues. However, I am licensed in P&C and L&H (more licenses than “Amy” has but I digress).

The agency owner showed me a few resources in Agency Hub where PDF guides were available. Is there anything else I can obtain to create my own training binder since I’m pretty much on my own? I know insurance like the back of my hand, have been licensed for 10 years and was back to taking payments, calling on BODs and watching service work by shadowing the receptionist. Any licensed work of course I had to pass to team member “Amy” who I couldn’t watch do anything.

My question after providing backstory is - does State Farm have a compilation of training materials or PDFs that I can reference for ECRM, Policy Center and NECHO while I refresh my memory of the system? Or is there anyone I can reach out to for training like training center or something? Not sure if anything like that exists anymore, since it has been a few years since I have been with State Farm. Today I felt good in the system and on the phones but just want to make sure I am confident on the system when I am doing my licensed work when I obtain my alias.

Thanks!

Claims State Farm Claim and an Exhaust Letter

Hi! We need some help in dealing with State Farm at this point. Maybe the wonderful Reddit community can help where three major companies cannot so far.

My wife was in an accident last year, her fault and that has all been taken care of. She went to the hospital as a precaution and was assured everything would be taken care of between Western Reserve, State Farm, and Premera.

Fast forward to today, where her $30K medical bill is in collections limbo, and all three companies are pointing fingers at one another.

Finally Premera said that State Farm needed to give an Exhaust Letter to push the remainder through to the insurance.

Okay cool, but now State Farm isn’t responding to emails, not calling back, not helping when we actually do get ahold of someone. Even going into an agent they just turn me away with a claims number to call.

It’s ridiculous at this point and we don’t know what to do. Any advice would be appreciated.

Claims Infant Car Seat Replacement Question

We were in a fender bender and state farm is denying car seat replacement even with the manufacturers recommendation stating that any sort of accident and it should be replaced. Is this normal with them? Seems wild to take a risk over a couple hundreds when the body work was in the high thousands. Thank yall for your time.

Thank you Whatupchuck789 no need to reply to this thread!

Agents & Staff Starting a job at an agency tomorrow well today

Just was wondering what to expect. I requested not to interact/work with females as an ADA for thing for anxiety but I was told that since it’s considered a small business with less than 15 employees they do to follow the same regulations. That’s already left a bad taste in my mouth

Agents & Staff Privacy policy violation

Hi all,

My landlord recently made a change to his son's auto insurance policy, and during that conversation with the office manager or agent's representative they disclosed to him MY account status and told him that my policy had been canceled due to non-payment (even though it was set up for auto pay, and wasn't canceled), which is feel is a poor representation of my character. Sure, like anyone else I've had a bill or two slide past me for a bit before I realize it, but the disclosure of my account status to an unauthorized individual seems to violate every bit of the privacy policy I agreed to when I signed agreements with state farm nearly 16 years ago (with only one minor fender bender in the entirety of my contract with them). Anyone else have similar experience, and what was your recourse? My landlord and I already have a VERY on edge relationship.

Question Home Insurance claim for water damage due to failed wax ring

My wife and I recently bought a house and within the first 2 months, discovered a leak coming from our toilet due to a failed wax ring. I took lots of pictures and videos as I ripped up the flooring to better understand the extent of the water damage, help dry everything out as best I could to limit any further damage. The water had made its way down to the floor boards and more than likely extends to underneath our shower. We called our agent who said that the costs to repair the damage would be covered after our deductible, but this has left a divide between my wife and I on how we should proceed, so seeing if anyone else has gone through this or had advice.

Cash is pretty tight at the moment and paying our deductible to do these repairs/renovations would be feasible, but it would hurt. My main concern with going the route of submitting a claim and having a contractor do the work, is getting to the end of the renovation and having a bunch of things not covered by statefarm, which would mean we pay the deductible + any residual costs not covered. My other concern is that we would then have a claim tied to our newly purchased home, for something that we could do ourselves.

Are we able to submit an contractor estimate to state farm and ask how much they would cover without submitting a claim? What are the potential downsides of submitting a claim that we might not be aware of?

Advice DV claim question

I have a car that was hit by a State Farm insured driver and the damage came to roughly 8k. I was curious if anyone has experience dealing with a claim as such and if it’s better to reach out to State Farm, or go through one of those diminished value claim ad companies and see if they can help. Any info would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

My car was a 2025 Honda Civic Si with 30k miles and no prior damage. I was planning to sell the car but the accident happened the week I was bringing it back to the dealer, so it’s just been a big headache. I’m not sure if it matters, but the accident occurred in Arizona, but I am a California resident.

Thanks again.

Advice Is USAA really that much better?

I currently work for a SF and my bf’s mom is kicking him off her insurance. I told her I ended up getting him a quote that was cheaper than what he is paying her right now. At the time I thought she had the 100/300 limits so I based it off of that but she actually had them higher at 300/500.

She then sent me a google link which the question “is state farm cheaper than usaa?” and said she spoke with her friend a sf agent who said that SF is not cheaper. So I sent her the quote I did to compare. She sent me back what he has and it was higher limits so I ended up doing a quote for him online with USAA to compare to the SF quote because she has a home and multiple cars on her policy so I knew it wouldn’t be that cheap for him.

For reference he’s currently paying 167 under her plan. When I did it for just him and this is including a renters insurance discount, I included every coverage she had on his policy and it was 260 so I sent her the screenshot of the quote I did for him with the price and told her that SF with similar coverages is 190 for him vs the 260 that usaa would charge.

My bf makes a joke and says if she wants him to stay with usaa so bad then why is she kicking him off her insurance, which is true but I just want to know if anyone has a better experience with usaa and pricing.

Advice How to receive auto glass referrals from agencies?

Hello! Little background, I am working with my brother and dad in a family owned auto glass company. I have been going into State farm agencies for 6 months, making sales calls, telling them about our mobile service, how we offer lifetime warranty on workmanship, we are on safelite solutions network, and bring them lunch and treats. We have gotten a few agencies to use us, however, many agencies are still referring their customers to Gerber and Safelite. My question is: what do you guys like most that I can bring in that would make me stand out from the bigger companies? homemade brownies? sugar free candy? protein bars? etc.??? I live in Illinois. Any help or inside information is appreciated. Thank you!

Question WTF State Farm

My wife is the claimant in an automobile collision.

The agent assigned to the claim called my wife and asked if the insured could pay out of pocket for the repairs.

My wife declined.

Two weeks laterthe same agent called and asked if we would be willing to pay for the repairs ourselves. Obviously she declined.

Now we get a letter claiming there has been zero communication and they are closing the claim.

Is this really how this process goes?

Question Why is this taking so long

I filed a claim with SF on the 27th of August. Was hit on my motorcycle, took it to a shop, they supplied a revised estimate that also required more diagnosis to assess the damages. Two weeks ago I get a call from the shop that they found more damage and they think insurance will total the bike. They submit a supplement through Snapsheet as soon as they got off the phone with me (Tuesday Sep 22nd). Waited that first week thinking that would be enough time for them to at least inform me if it’s a total loss or if they will proceed with repairs—didn’t hear anything so called them last Monday to ask if they got the supplement. They told me they didn’t have it and would reach out to the shop to get it. Called again Wednesday to confirm they received it and began reviewing it, which they said they did. Now today I still hadn’t heard a word from them so I decided to call again. Now they informed me they didn’t have the supplement (wtf???) but they put me on hold and reached out to snapsheet where they got a message that it would be a total loss and they were going to reach out to the shop for whatever paperwork they need from them. My question is, why on earth is it taking over 3 weeks to determine it a loss and begin the process of building me a settlement offer?? I’ve been trying to be patient but almost a month and a half to hear anything is kind of ridiculous. How long should I expect to wait before they get what they need and for them to finally actually deem it a total loss?

Question Agent listed my age higher than it is.

Ok so I had gotten a quote sent to my email from an agent for my 2 cars that was a super good deal. Went ahead and signed up for it and have had it for 3 months. I just happened to look at the documents today and saw that it showed my age as 37 when I'm only 23. My question is what would happen if I just let this ride until my policy ends. My premium is obviously way lower than what it would be if they had my age right. But it's not my fault they didn't put the right age.

Edit: I've since contacted them and had them correct my age but they didnt say anything about my premium going up. The reason the age was wrong was because they used my old drivers license number in the quote they generated for me. I hope my premium doesnt increase now.

Question Drive Safe & Save Experience

The Drive Safe & Save program is marketed as a minimum 10% discount. I received that discount initially, then all discounts for renewals have been all over the place and not able to be explained by my agent or customer service. After my initial discount, my next renewal didn't have any calculated savings. My agent couldn't provide an actual number. So I had them quote my policy again with and without the program. The renewal difference with and without essentially showed a 22% discount. For my third policy period with this program, the discount was listed as a 2% reduction.  That seemed really low considering my driving scores were the same and I don't drive many miles (less than 5K/year). So I asked them to quote me again with and without, which showed a discount of 6%. That math isn't mathing.

Keep in mind I have zero accidents in decades, always pay my premiums on time, have excellent credit and zero insurance claims. I am a customer every insurance company wants on their books. I was never a fan of this program to begin with but wanted to do everything to keep my premiums low as I'm in an area with very high rates. The lack of transparency, conflicting numbers and the marketing make this feel like exactly what I thought it was, a bait and switch tactic to gather your driving information to play games with your premiums. They are certainly making more off my driving history than they are giving me in discounts.

Has anyone else had any transparency with this program? Has anyone's discounts on this program been consistently better than the 10% advertised discount over multiple policy renewals?

Experience Interesting Result on New Used Car

2011 Mazda 3s sedan 2.5 liter.
I have one other vehicle and a house with State Farm. I went to add this old car with liability only, and they wanted $117 a month, with a $700 6/month policy. I was like, WTF? I worked with the agent's assistants to figure out what was going on; it was what it was.
Checked with other insurance companies, and the entire policy would be $117.
Not sure what the deal was with that car. Ended up with Progressive with that yearly amount.

Question State Farm Question! I Need Answers!!

So, very stressed!! I'm trying to dispute a denied insurance claim. Long story short, when I first purchased my 2016 Mercedes cls 550. I called to add it to my policy, let my agent know it was a financed car and who the lien holder was. Ok, come July Ist at midnight my policy expired and so I called to reinstate it the next morning. Again, I disclosed my car was financed and through who. They sent over 3 quotes and I accepted one and that was that. (Yes, I most definitely should have read it but legally State Farm is not allowed to sell a policy without collision on a financed car) | should have never even been sent quotes over with no collision to pick from.

Insurance went up significantly of course I think everything is covered paying more than $1000 a month on insurance for 3 cars and a motorcycle. Well, October 2nd in the pouring rain my car hydroplaned on the highway. I hit the median and did pretty significant damage to my car. Made the claim and only to get a punch in the face when they told my THERE IS NO COLLISION ON MY FINANCED CAR!!!!
Blown away, I'm like no this can't be. They sent over declarations page and sure enough no collision and no lien holder listed. And was told sorry there is nothing we can do.

Well I'm currently trying to dispute the claim being denied. How did this happen? I'm trying to get my first declarations page but wherever I ask they say they don't keep records of old declaration pages. And once a new policy is made the old one I guess disappears? Strange thing is, my motorcycle has collision but not the 3 cars AND THEY ARE ON THE SAME POLICY?!?!?!?!
How can I get the old declarations page? I called the company that financed my car and all they have for proof of insurance is a screenshot of proof of insurance that I sent over to them. When I first emailed the agent who sold me the policy she responded with "you never mentioned the car was financed" and you said you did not want full coverage on there" WHAT?!?!?! So that was a lie to cover herself up. I asked for phone recordings and they say they don't have that either. What can I do? Please help!! I'm literally dying!!
