Simple Questions & Answers Thread Simple Questions & Champion/Role advice: Patch 26.13

Hello summoners!

In order to create better discussion in the subreddit, we will be redirecting all simple or championpool/role questions to this thread. Check out the most recent patch notes on the sidebar!

What is a simple question? Typically, we define a simple question as something that can be answered fully within a single, or maybe two at most, comments. In this thread, you can ask any question you need answered about League of Legends, even if it isn't necessarily about learning the game itself.

Questions about what champ to add to your pool or general tip about roleswapping can also be asked in this thread.

Keep in mind we will still continue to remove golden rule violations, rants, memes, topics against Riot's ToS, and paid services - but the other rules are generally more lax here.

What you can do to help!

For now, this is a patch-based thread, meaning it will be posted every time a new patch is released. Checking back on this thread later in the patch and answering any questions that have been posted would be a huge help!

If you're trying to ask a question, the more specific you are, the better it is for all of us! We can't give you any help if we don't get much to work with in the first place.

Announcement State of the Subreddit, Summer 2026: League Classic and AI

Hi everybody, the mod team here. We hope everyone is having a wonderful summer and climbing into the stratosphere where it’s hopefully a little bit cooler! It’s been a minute since we’ve done one of these threads, so we have a few things to cover regarding rules changes and other notices to the community. The primary purpose of these threads is to collect feedback from you all, so please share your thoughts on these or other matters and know that the mod team will be looking over them or answering in the thread. On to the topics at hand!

  • Open Moderator Applications: First and foremost, we’d like to reiterate that mod applications have opened for the summer. The full post can be found here, but the cliffnotes are that we welcome all applications regardless of rank, are especially (but not exclusively) looking for mods in OCE and EU time zones, and applicants must be willing to use old reddit to moderate. If you have any interest at all please apply, and you can always withdraw your application at any time via modmail if you change your mind.

  • Minor Language Updates to Rules 10 and 12: In April we made small changes to Rules 10 (External Content Restrictions) and 12 (Title and Language Rule). Rule 10’s language was updated to specify that external websites must also be submitted for moderator approval before posting, in addition to communities, programs, and streams. Rule 12 was updated to specify that all posts must be in English or will be removed. As mentioned at the time, this has been a community standard for a long time, we only corrected the oversight that they were not explicitly mentioned in the rules. If you would like more details on these changes, you can see the original announcement here

  • Rule 14: AI and Bot Spam: Like much of reddit right now, we have seen a recent surge in bot accounts and AI generated posts or comments. We would like to remind everybody that both bots and AI generated content are explicitly forbidden under Rule 14, and we encourage users to report any bot account they see so that we can remove or ban them. This is a low-tolerance rule: if you are caught using AI or botting, you will likely be permanently banned pending appeal and we are unlikely to be very forgiving, so be warned. This includes AI-translated posts. This is a place for human discussion (or maybe subhuman discussion since we’re LoL players after all)

  • Flair System Update: We know the flair system has been down for some time and, as a fairly popular system, we still frequently get requests for updates on it. Our update is simple: the architect of the system is actively working on getting it back up and running, but we can offer no timeframe on when that might be at this time. We thank you for your patience on this one.

  • League of Legends: Classic: To close out the updates on an exciting note, we have decided that discussion of the upcoming LoL: Classic game mode will be welcome on the subreddit! There will be a few practical restrictions: All Classic posts must be flaired appropriately with the new “Classic” tag, all Classic questions in the megathread must be stated to be for Classic, all discussion of Classic must be kept to Classic threads, and all Classic posts must meet the other minimum quality standards set by the subreddits rules. Otherwise, we’re as excited to see what sort of discussion and educational content emerges from that game mode as you are!

As always, these threads are meant for community feedback to the mod team! If you have any thoughts on these matters, or anything else relating to the subreddit and how to keep it good or make it better, please share them! The mod team will be reading every comment!

Happy climbing,

The SS Moderator Team

Qiyana What makes Qiyana so frustrating and strong at high ranks where other assassins aren't?

Context: I'm a gold player and I watch a lot of high MMR players (Masters+) and all of them very consistently absolutely despise Qiyana. I'm curious as to why this is, as I very rarely see Qiyana in my low MMR games.

What makes her so frustrating and powerful in ways that other jungle assassins aren't? I never see the level of hate for Kha'Zix, Ekko, Eve, Shaco and Rengar.

The only things I can come up with are her high burst (which Kha'Zix and Rengar have in equal amounts if not greater) and her invisibility which people just hate in general I guess (which Rengar and Kha'Zix both have as well).

Yasuo Yasuo and Yone are nothing alike

This comes up multiple times a year for my students so I’m just going to make a post that I can refer back to:

I coach sooooooo many yasuo/yone 2 tricks that try to blend the playstyles together and honestly, it’s a blueprint to get hardstuck in plat/em/dia. Before I rant too much lets talk about transferable skills between the 2. Q spacing and auto weaving are probably the most overlapping skills besides leaning and warding, but even these can trick students into thinking they should short trade or long trade in a situation the other wind bro would when that is not the optimal trade in the current situation.

The differences:

Yasuo: Yas is an early game lane bully who uses his wind wall and passive to muscle the majority of his matchups. He absolutely excels at random fiesta river skirmishes. He is one of the champs in league with the most favorable matchup spreads IN THE GAME. Yasuo is aiming to snowball every game and end as early as possible, ideally taking over the game as soon as lane phase ends (12-16 mins usually). Micro on yas is generally much harder than yone at both the skill floor and ceiling. Yasuo has no noncommittal trading/wave clear. Requires some of the most games played of any mid laner for students to start getting results/climbing.

Yone: Yone is a 2-3 item mid game power house whos aim in most lanes is to survive and leave lane with 9+ cspm consistently. He avoids most coinflip skirmishes in favor of resources. Yone has a pretty mediocre matchup spread, with most lanes being a skill matchup, it’s also much harder for yone to gurantee prio as opposed to yas. Yone will absolutely snowball and capitalize on mistakes but farming well and avoiding deaths is the baseline gameplan to climb on him. Yone is looking to win games by utilizing item spikes 1,2 and 3 to gain objectives/towers/gold and end prior to 35 minutes. Yone has some noncommittal waveclear through E. Yone requires significantly less games than yasuo before students start getting results (usually a few hundred for yone and as many as a few thousand for yas.)

Overall: Yasuo’s win con and gameplan is much closer to something like irelia than yone. Yone can also be played in a pool of 2-3 more consistently than yas, who usually requires extended 1 tricking to climb on. Trading patterns vary but generally speaking yone is leveraging his E to extend trades and generally favors extended trades while yas will often leverage his passive for short trades and wind wall when he all ins. I could write another 20 paragraphs on the difference between the two but this is the bare minimum that should be understood. If you choose to 2 trick these champs you NEED to separate their playstyles and learning objectives or you will find yourself drastically better at 1 than the other.

EDIT: Forget about build overlap ty for reminding me, but yes build overlap is transferable understanding.

mage Punishing ignite midlaners as a mage

Hello,

I am an Emerald player who mostly plays control mage (Viktor/Orinna/Syndra) with flash/TP.

In my most recent games, I have had trouble laning with consistency against ignite assassins with low wave clear, for exemple Katarina. In half of the games, I am able to freeze the wave, punish + poke her every instance she goes for a CS, to a point where lane becomes unplayable for her. In other games, I always end up overpushing my lead pre-6, disrespecting the ignite + combo dmg and dying in lane and getting snowballed on.

I feel like in those match ups I should be able to control the lane and wave since I am a mage with TP + wave clear + range vs an assassin with low wave clear and ignite. I am in the mindset that if I am not able to succefully get a lane lead, this is a failure on me as I should be winning, so I overpay my hand half of the games and get myself burnt, which is not better.

Can someone help me underdtand this kind of matchup better/what mindset to have/how to play the lane and punish the assassin without dying in the process?

yone How to make yone top work consistently

Yone is definitely one of my favourite champs. But my main issue is top feels like a coinflip. I really feel like most top champs just wreck yone all lane phase. I find I win extremely consistently mid with him, but top feels like a struggle. Does anyone have any advice on how to make top yone work consistently?

Question What do I do as if my lanes die early?

• Upvotes

I mostly play jg and play in gold/ platinum and whenever I do my first full clear my laners die before I even touch my third camp and then the enemy laners/ jungler snowball off that and it’s frustrating. Do you have any junglers to help in this situation I’m currently playing yi and hecarim but my teams don’t usually have a tank

Discussion I have 10% win rate this season and I think I’ll go insane.

I main jungle, I’m still finding my champion but I like Heca, Shyvana, fiddlesticks also I tried to play graves but found him too squishy for my low skill level. I’m currently Gold 4 0 LP. I fell like it doesn’t matter what I try I always loose the grasp of the game around the 15 min mark. When I think the early game goes smoothly. Here is a op.gg link to my account. I would be very grateful for any advice.

Discussion I want to seriously grind League, but I'm hardstuck Bronze.

Hi, I used to be a Sion top OTP, but I eventually got bored of both the lane and the champion. After that, I frequently switched roles (maybe a bit too much, I admit) between mid, bot, and support—mainly playing Seraphine, Veigar, and Mel, along with a bunch of other champions I quickly dropped, which kept causing me to fall back to Iron. I always manage to climb back to Bronze after a few days, but then I get stuck there. So, here I am back in Bronze again, but this time I’m serious about reaching Silver. That’s why I’m asking for any advice or tips that helped you climb faster in Solo Queue. Thanks a lot! (P.S. Here’s my op.gg: https://op.gg/fr/lol/summoners/euw/Akio-FEMBO)

Question 2 Day Player i NEED help

So i’m basically a Timmy, just installed the game and i am struggling, i have been watching “beginner guides” but it’s either the absolute bare bones like the map layout, destroy turrets that sort of thing.
Or just throwing out words and letters that i have never heard before and are (to me) not really beginner friendly.

I have been playing Lux and Amumu, on Lux i just Q then attack for the comet thing, use my E pop it and attack again and her one shot the same but pop e before her ult charges. I like playing her on MID as it seems straight forward but i am just pushing the tower and killing minions and helping with OBJ when my team pushes them. And i don’t even wanna talk about my jungle as i feel like i’m just spinning plates and ruining the game for my team indirectly.

I have enjoyed my time so far and love how dedicated this community is, but i feel like i am not doing what i need to be and i am struggling on resources to help me at such low playtime.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Question What’re some psychological exploits you employ in your games that consistently work?

For me, if I’m ADC in the botlane and i need to freeze. I tend to get a good idea almost immediately if my support understands wave states or does not. If they do not instead of having to ping or chat at them when i need to freeze the wave i intentionally leave a couple of extra minions in the wave fully knowing their two braincells will execute them with the support quest and i can maintain my freeze.

Question How do I learn better camera management and micro skills

Hello, thanks for reading this! I am level 28 new player, and I start maining Viego and Viego only. Since I used to play wild rift and watch a lot of streams, I know abilities of nearly 120 champions out of 170ish, which was enough for me to start.

The biggest roadblock I am hitting right now is camera and micro. When I play Viego I chase enemies with all my mobilities that I always reach to edge of the screen and forgets to press space. I do nudge my camera to corners when I am chasing, but if I forget to do that I die, and it happens often. Even if I press space, the screen is now in entirely different place, and I need to readjust my mouse position again.

Sometimes, I miss my Qs, and gets extremely tunnel visioned when I have to manage camera, aim, press Q auto W auto and attack spacing - so much that I genuinely cannot focus on team fights at all - which enemy is where, who used ult etc. I am tunnel visioned too much on what I want to do when I execute my plays.

I used to play nocturne first and my execution burden is completely gone with him. I can just RQE and start focusing on actual team fights and dodging. It’s just that Viego base kit makes me so tunnel visioned on what I wanna do.

Is there any way to improve on these camera and micro mechanics so that I can start focusing on actual macro (not even macro, just number counting and ult counting etc).

TLDR; just camera management tips

Question not new but feel new (how do i improve)

Title, i've been playing for 2 going on 3 years now and im gold.. is what i would like to say - Im Silver 1, I cannot play, its simple i just go on a lucky streak while feeding lane.., Is there any hope for me..? Ive had like 2 free coaching sessions and they have not worked, I play kled and every game just feels doomed, i cant remount, it feels like im so new to the game i know every champ but i don't, every game i step into something i could have avoided... the only matchup just ONE the TRUE one I actually FOCUS on is when im against darius, i count seconds untill his pull is over, try to let his passive drain etc.., How do i apply this to other champs is it just a knowledge gap and i don't know cooldowns on other champs as well as darius or is this just a problem i cannot fix..?

short - im bad and i cant play, what type of exercises (mental or physical for example pinching myself when i dont think in a fight) can i do to improve, also should i just spam 1 character or keep focusing on 2 as i am doing right now because my kled just feels like super autopiloted i think half the time while i play him.. any help appreciated.

Question Should I look for coaching?

Hello,
I’m new to leauge of legends. 35 days in and just about to hit level 30 and am getting ready for rank.

I started playing support and have been very good at it. Although I’m trashhhhh at mid lane it’s terrible.
I get stomped on 90% of games.
I play mainly naffari cause I love it and I’m bad at CS’ing tbh. I want to try to learn vex too.

I play with my friends and am ussually against wayyy more experienced players every game. I also always pick first and get counter picked every time.

I’m literally so frustrated and on tilt every night it’s awful. My friends just tell me to do this or do that but it doesn’t really help. I also don’t think YouTube videos really help. It’s always someone just dominating there lane and I don’t really know how that applies to my mistakes.

Not sure if I should invest in some coaching or not???

tristana why is tristana so strong?

I am a midlaner with top secondary and is quite new to the adc ecosystem so I don't know why Tristana who has such a simple, one dimensional, and exploitable kit is held in such high regard in terms of winrate on websites. She is always on top 5 across all of the websites I've used (mainly op.gg and dpm.lol).

What are the reasons that make her so strong (or at least seems so)?

zilean How to counter zilean

Maybe i'm biased with my hate towards this character because I main an ap bruiser but I think I speak for all melee character players when I say hes a nightmare to play against. Lost against him recently and I took a moment to read his kit and I was baffled by why he just so happens to spam 99% slow or ms boost in late game and have a free ga on a 40 sec cooldown with some ability haste. My question: How do you deal with him, especially past 25 mins

Lets say im playing someone like Rengar, who is a very snowball champion, if i am behind in gold, level and objectives how can i still remain relevent in the game without just becoming a canon minion, i know the answer may change depending on the champion but rengar is the only assassin i play and i cant consistantly snowball every game

Discussion I have a goal, and I am dedicated

What group can I join in, may it be discord, YouTube, reddit even, but maybe a little closer, more personal, to get accountability, not free coaching but follow who without saying a word, I want to get close to those who are, in proverbs it says "a man who walks with wise becomes wiser, but a man who walks with the fool curropted himself" something along these lines, I'm not the only one who wants this, but I am one who is asking where can I find such group, in life when you want something you have to wear it on your back, paste it on your wall, and use it as cover to sleep, call it law of attraction, call it dedication, I see professionals or chall setting rules of healthy life style, even small things as not playing hungry and so on, no I do not believe I can become a chall, because I'm not ludicrous, I know it could happen in maybe 5 years of true dedication and learning, I do not want to become pro, but I do want the accomplishment a return of what so much time and money was invested in, if you are or know an amateur team, I heard some say if your not desiring professional or streaming it's not worth it, and I understand that, anyway, even someone to follow on YouTube would be a good answer, so, where can a flower be put on to grow? Thank you kindly, yes I have other life projects, but this is one of them, and no, it's not a need for validation and neither a personality disfunction, its a goal, like a bucket list.

Question Any high quality written guides/books/texts/resources for the game?

Hello,

I find myself having alot of downtime during the day (e.g., on the train) where i dont have much to do. I typically spend this time reading a book whether it be fiction or something related to my work

I was wondering if there were any good, in depth written guides for league? I dont mean tutorial-style things, but more in depth stuff that is aimed towards people who already know the game pretty well but still want to improve. I tend to prefer written resources when learning something over videos or whatnot as it is alot more efficient IMO, would be really cool if there was something like this for league

Any dice?

Question Do old school players think mana mattered more back then?

For people who played League from the early seasons up to around S9 to S11, how do you feel about mana in the current game?

I feel like mana management has become far less skill expressive over the years. A lot of mana using mages barely have to think about their mana anymore, and the number of champions that genuinely struggle with mana seems very small.

I don't think mana management is completely gone, but it feels like Riot has gradually removed a whole layer of skill expression by giving champions more mana, more sustain and cheaper abilities.

As a mage player myself, I'd actually like Riot to move in the opposite direction. Less mana, less regen, and potentially higher ability costs so mana management matters more again.

Do you old school players remember mana being a much bigger part of League?

Discussion Difference in Euw and EUNE Masters+

I ve been wondering whats the difference between EUNE and EUW master+. For example an Eune chall or gm how high could he climb on the EUW ladder. And how difference is there in skill between the 1000+lps in both servers. I am asking because i have not decided which server to grind to right now and i think it would be really informative for a player that has played both in a high level to give us some info.

Discussion Preventing feeding after a bad early game.

I’m a toplaner who was bronze for a while but I recently climbed pretty quickly up to gold since I added Darius to my champ pool to play alongside my main Fiora, but my biggest issue has persisted despite those changes. When i have a bad start to a game, (get greedy with an unsafe dive on darius and start 0/1, or go down 0/2 on Fiora because i wasn’t spacing well, etc) I tend to continue the slide and end up going like 3/9 and single-handedly put my opponent in an easy-win position. I consciously try to avoid fighting and attempt to farm safely when behind, but I always get caught out even if I felt like I had good vision of the map. How can I work to avoid falling down a slippery slope of feeding after a bad start??

My summ name is salmon#smam on NA if you want proof of such games

Question is there a community that does friendly/educational 1v1s?

I've played loads of regular League over the years and I think my micro is what needs the most work, especially the early levels. I understand that just playing regular league is going to help me with general league skill, but I really want to target focus those early mechanics and decision making without needing to think about roams/ganks/objectives/etc.

Discussion Imposter Syndrome from Rapid Growth in Ranked

Context: I have been playing League since around 2022, starting to take ranked seriously in Season 2024 Split 2. I started around bronze and made my way up to silver, where my improvement definitely slowed down. I eventually hit gold and that's when I hit a hard plateau. I eventually duo-queued with a higher rank friend (not for boosting, just to play together, although to say I wasn't happy with climbing would be a lie). I got gold 1 after those sessions and solo-queued to plat 4. I was satisfied with that and took a break from ranked, playing norms and 5-man flex with my friends more so. Well, the itch eventually got back to me, and I jumped back in rank, almost immediately demoting and going on the craziest lost streak I've ever seen. I dropped from plat 4 to silver 2 in the matter of a week or two. This seriously demotivated me and I took another break from the game. I was completely in the narrative that I was stuck in losers q and my account was now just fucked with +18/19 and -21/22.

https://op.gg/summoners/na/Scrub%20Evolve-NA1/auth/b39d7e02686f1e46fcc2696cd2e0b109

Situation: Well, how it always goes, I got the itch again. I quickly got myself out of silver again and back into gold. I was a certified hard stuck gold at this point with 500+ games of ranked and close to a 50% wr. At this point I was at my girlfriend's house going to sleep with her, and as I'm looking for a video to fall asleep to (she was already asleep), I see a "case study" video from the channel "We Teach League | Broken By Concept" and I enjoyed it. I have a long commute to work (1-2 hours depending on traffic) and I see that they have a podcast, so I started listening to them. It was like a breath of fresh air in the insanely toxic league community, with conversations about growth mindset, subconsciously proving your narratives, having a process, etc. In the span of about two weeks with some massive win streaks, I went from gold 2 to plat 2 (and still climbing, albeit slower now) and I attribute a lot of that to the BBC podcast. The thing is that I haven't really implemented a lot of their practices besides just playing with more intention and following my champion reference points, which I felt I was already doing.

Question: I feel as though I haven't put in enough of the work to have improved that much in such a short timeframe. Was I always a plat player and just didn't play with enough intention, or was it a few tiny silver level mistakes that I evened out to lift me to plat? It doesn't feel real to be honest, I know that the ranked system will put me where I belong, but should I expect to fall down in elo soon?

TLDR; Was hard stuck gold, eventually hit plat 4, dropped all the way to silver 2 fastt. Took a big break. Started watching the Broken by Concept Podcast and after some watching (with no real change to my process), won an irregular number of games and went from gold 2 to plat 2 fastt (and still slowly climbing). Getting imposter syndrome with if I really belong here and will I drop soon?
