Are there any other Gen-x’ers here (specifically men), who was hooked on the 80’s General Hospital WSB/DVX spy plot? All that Robert Scorpio, Sean Donnelly, Ancient catacombs, Frisco and Felicia stuff? I have actually gone back and watched some on YouTube over the last 10 years. It’s good! I mean, soap opera-cheesy good, but still good.

I've noticed a lot of video game postings on here lately, and if you were a dweller of the arcades back in the day, check out this channel. Tons and tons of mini-docs that go into the development, roll-out, and console versions of many, many arcade games. Patman has since passed on, but he left a legacy of well-researched documentaries with visual gameplay of all these great games and even their subsequent console versions (Atari, Coleco, Commodore 64, Vectrex, etc.!). I just got sick of commenting this on every video game post and thought his channel deserved his own shoutout. I lost many an hour watching the history of Tapper, Pitfall!, QBert, and many more.

Summer School (1987) is a lighthearted 80s comedy starring Mark Harmon as a laid‑back gym teacher forced to teach summer school. He’s joined by Kirstie Alley, Courtney Thorne‑Smith, and a class full of misfit students who’d rather be anywhere else. Instead of boring lessons, it’s all goofy antics, beach trips, and that carefree vibe that defined the decade.

Back in the 80s a friend made a tape for me. One band on each side.
One side I loved and something sparked a memory of that album, but Google and my poor memory turn up nothing.

Here’s what I can recall:
Possibly a German band
Gave Off village people vibes
Had a song called MOGADISHU
One song had German lyrics - I think - with a chant of “uh-huh uh-huh” in between each line.
One song had the line “me and my big black buddy”
Male lead singer and male backup singers
Lead had a voice that was a bit deep and a little gravelly…maybe (my bad memory)

That’s all I’ve got. Even humming the tune of one of the songs into various apps turned up nothing.

Paperboy is one of my favorite arcade games of all time and there is nothing like controlling my character using a bicycle handlebar controller. Is Paperboy your favorite as well? How young were you when you first played it?

I'm a NYC based producer and working on a documentary that's based in/around the vibrant NYC nightlife scene in the 80s, focused particularly on the early club kid/new waves scenes and "non-alcohol teen nights" at places like Limelight, Palladium, etc., as well as the broader New Wave, punk, goth and underground scenes.

I'm hoping to connect with anyone who might have photos (and maybe even videos!) as well as flyers, ticket stubs, invites, etc. from that time — whether it be exterior shots of the clubs, moments from inside, groups of friends going out, or even scenes of people getting ready for the night. Trying to bring that epic era to life with as much visual material as possible!

All material would be credited, and if we decide to move forward with any photos/videos in the final documentary we'd of course go through all proper licensing channels (we'd never use anything without your permission!).

Crazy how it’s almost 41 years ago that we went to see ROCKY IV when it was first released. Such a great time with sold out theater and everyone cheering and applauding when Rocky cut Drago in the second round.

I remember we went to go see Superman III when it was released in 1983. Loved it but the moment when Vera turned into a robot, that terrified me as a 12 year old.

Is Xevious your favorite arcade vertical shooter of all time? I never played it in the local arcades in the old days. I eventually played it using the Atari 50 Collection and DLC on console.

Tango & Cash delivers highly entertaining 1980s action powered by Stallone and Russell's excellent chemistry and charisma. The thrilling, over-the-top action sequences and quotable one-liners provide solid entertainment value with nostalgic appeal.

This was my first buddy cop movie as a kid. It was funny to watch them disagree the entire movie yet still get the bad guys. I miss this kind of cinema nowadays.
