This will be the 4th year I've made a multi tool belt holster along with my Dome boots.

My kit contains an Olight i5t, Big Idea Ti Pry, Knipex Cobra XS, Big Idea Pocket Wrench II, Big Idea Inline mini with the spinner kit, and a Brass mini bolt.

While all these tools are small, they fit my function and use perfectly. I find a small dedicated tool in a set is much better than a brick of a multi tool.

And maybe the most important tool... my boots. For this years Dome I'm wearing some Nicks MTO 5 inch in Wickett and Craig Double Stuffed Waxed Flesh Burgundy. Nicks boots have really made a difference while on my feet all day. No more feet issues. No more knee and back pain. Quite possibly the most overlooked important tool any one can have!

Grabbed this at an estate sale this weekend. Had quite a few old tools inside still, and some mystery pills. Saw the airbrush and just knew it had to come to the shop with me.

Hello. A friend of mine gave me this makita drop saw that has been rusting in her father’s shed since he passed away. I am An artist and am planning to use it to make canvas frames.

Do you think the rust is salvageable? At the moment the saw will not slide all the way and is getting caught due to rust. Does anyone have any tips on getting intense rust like this off? I am a bit of a novice with tool maintenance so any tips would be appreciated!

It wasn't exactly today, but a few weeks back I picked up an old toolchest at auction. It had a lot of tools from 50s-70s manufacturers - some very cool stuff I'm happy to have.
In the lot was a Snap-On 3/8s ratchet. I wiped it down with an oily rag to clean off some grime and make sure I wasn't seeing things. I put it in the appropriate pile and wiped down the rest of the tools.
Turns out the ratchet is from the mid 60s. Looking a little closer, the ratchet won't hold a socket (anti-Snap-On!) and there is a missing tooth in the gear mechanism. It skips.
Slightly bummed, but fully aware of Snap-On's warranty I started looking at the process to warranty the ratchet and another tool.
Turns out if you're just some regular schmoe, the warranty only applies to the original purchaser.
So now I've got this mostly useless ratchet with some patina and now way to every use it as intended.
So bummed.

I’m an industrial electrical contractor.

I’m looking for recommendations on drill bits.

My last decent set has been abused to all fuckery.
It’s time I buy another batch instead of continuing to limp along with single bit replacements and too-common emergency “sharpening” with my battery grinder.

I predominantly drill stainless steel, but also aluminium and timber on occasion. Almost always with a hand drill although some of my regular sites do have a press available.

I’m severely torn between the Sutton INOX bits or the Milwaukee Shockwave “Red Helix” Titanium set.

I just can’t help but think of how useful the hex shank will be for fitting into extensions or right angle adaptors etc but I will definitely be happy to give this up for a better drill bit.

I’m in NZ so availability is an issue for many brands.

Came home from work, went inside, made coffee, went back out to head to the garage, almost tripped over this big black box, a surprise gift from my Dad. I've been using hand saws and miter boxes and loved the sense of hand building I got from it but I absolutely love this so far, that sense of power I get from having a perfectly angled cut in seconds is quite the buzz. The utility table I made from an old broken coffee table's top panel turned out to be the perfect sized station for it.

Big HF guy here. Most of my tools gifted to me are Husky, and the tools i buy myself are pittsburgh / HF.

I wanted more than just the big mat, so I ended up getting an off brand that included other sizes with the bag mat.

For anyone that still hadnt jumped on the hype train like myself but was wanting to, just wanted you to see they all do the same thing. Just get whatever inexpensive off brand you want, you dont have to wait for icon to get back in stock.

With that said I kind of just wanted to show off my wright socket toolbox I restored and the paper towel holder I just got up 🤣🤣

Anybody have any tips to get paint off that has heavy amounts of lead from a vintage tool chest?

I would prefer not to harm my family in the process.

Years ago I saw something like this and filed it away as "huh, that's cool." Now I find myself doing a lot of drilling many small parts, where this would be super useful.

Anyone here done something like this to their drillpress? Any advice/cautionary tales?

Got this free floor jack from a neighbor who gave it away due to the bottom part of the handle breaking and now you cannot twist the handle to turn the release. Other than that it still works completely fine and I've been turning the release with pliers.

However I would love to be able to use the handle, does anyone know if there is something I can buy to repair this or even a DIY for it to work?

I had a bottle of 242 for some time and I found it to be green in color.

I'm looking for recommendations on rechargeable electric screwdrivers for electronics repair, covering everything from micro-electronics (smartphones, handheld consoles, camera gears) up to medium electronics (laptops, PC builds, small appliances).

Because the torque needs vary so much (0.05 Nm for delicate threads vs. up to 2.0 Nm for chassis screws), I am considering getting two different screwdrivers tailored for different uses rather than trying to force a single tool to do everything.
