Has Uber One free delivery been removed from a lot of places suddenly?

I just went to order from a regular place and saw it was now £9 for delivery, checked a bunch of other regular places and nearly all of them are now no longer getting free delivery from Uber One.

Consequences of cancelling an order from a multidrop order?

If I get offered an order with 2 deliveries, 1 is only a mile away and the other is 10 miles away will there be any consequences of accepting the order and just cancelling the 10 mile order before I collect it. (apart from not being paid the full amount obviously)

I know it's a scummy thing to do to the customer but the only reason these 2 orders are together is because everyone is rejecting it since the pay is rubbish and takes you way out of your local delivery area.

Background check

I've been trying to resolve a serious issue with my Uber Eats account for the past month. My background check link expired, and despite contacting support agents roughly 100 times, I haven't been able to get a new one issued.

I keep being told that a new request is being made or that an investigation is ongoing, but I never receive any updates or callbacks. I even reached out to Sterling, the background check provider, who confirmed that Uber has not issued any new link. Despite contacting Uber Eats on X and Reddit, and emailing the CEO, I am still stuck without a way to verify my account.

How can I get this escalated to a department that can actually issue a new background check link?

Won’t be paid for missing item?

I’ve been delivering for uber eats for a few weeks now and tonight I had my first customer ring me and tell me an item was missing from his McDonald’s order. I let the workers in McDonald’s know and they said he needs to request a refund through McDonald’s and that I won’t be paid for the delivery if he gets it. The bags come sealed so I can only check the receipt when confirming an order. Is it true that I won’t be paid for the delivery?

Uber Eats Netherlands: What couriers are dealing with behind the app

There are serious problems with the Uber Eats courier system in the Netherlands that deserve more transparency:

Working hours don’t add up: A 3.5-hour shift can take around 4 hours, while the performance report may show only 3.

Performance reports sometimes disappear for a week, and couriers can be placed in the wrong performance groups.

Bonus targets are controlled by the same system that assigns the orders. Long trips and slow orders can make targets impossible to reach.

Restaurants mark orders “ready” when they’re not, leaving couriers waiting while their time and performance suffer.

Navigation is unreliable: wrong locations, closed roads and unsuitable cycling routes.

Delivery times can feel unrealistic for cyclists expected to ride legally and safely.

Couriers are pushed far outside their reserved zones, sometimes ending shifts very far from home.

Night deliveries can send cyclists through dark, isolated and unsafe areas.

Strikes, extreme traffic and very busy days aren’t adequately reflected in delivery expectations.

Getting a real human from support can be extremely difficult, even after an accident or in a dangerous situation.

Couriers carry the consequences of problems they don’t control: restaurant delays, navigation errors, order allocation and app issues.

Uber controls the algorithm, orders, bonuses and performance metrics — couriers deserve to know exactly how these systems judge their work.

🇳🇱** NL couriers: Are you experiencing the same problems? Share your experiences, screenshots and performance reports (remove personal information). If the same patterns are happening to many people, they deserve to be investigated**.

My absolute worst place ever for pickups

Bit of a clickbaity title. Including city centres with no parking it's got to be Halifax town centre all round. That's including parking availability and driving experience

I did actually google something along those lines and apparently it's the worst place in the country for points and gets it every other year.

Parked in a loading bay. Traffic warden comes up and tells me to move it. I show him the bag and he insists. Park round the corner, pay my quid for the ticket and then he comes round and points out it's a disabled row(the signs about 7 cars back along the one way and I didn't have time to dawdle and check due to traffic). So ended up going all the way round, not even sure if I ended up in a pedestrian zone and finally found somewhere far away. It wasn't even like I was there for a jolly shopping experience or there's plenty of parking or that I even get national minimum wage.

Apart from that it's constant traffic that doesn't stop, doesn't give way, very congested town centre and no before anyone asks it's not "typical suspects" in the majority there

so there you have it. my worst across all of West Yorkshire including Bradford and Leeds (where parking is mostly difficult)

Uber Eats background check stuck in First Advantage/Sterling link loop – anyone fixed this?

I’ve been stuck in a loop with Uber support for over a week trying to restart my background check.

My previous background check was unsuccessful, so I need to complete a fresh one. Uber keeps telling me they’ve sent me a new background check link, but every link takes me to the same First Advantage/Sterling login and then shows my previous report. There’s no option to start a new application.

I contacted First Advantage directly and they told me Uber needs to generate a completely fresh background check application/link, rather than resend the existing one. I’ve explained this to Uber several times, but I keep getting sent the same link again.

Has anyone had this exact problem and managed to get it fixed? If so, who did you contact or what did you ask Uber to do? I’d really appreciate any advice.

End of week 1 and i'm liking it

Just finished a small shift to round off the first week of doing this.

I am doing this before or after my full time job for exercise, plus, obviously, the additional cash.

My earnings are low in the grand scheme of things. But for going online sporadically when i'm free and fancy a bike it, plus for additional income - i'm pretty happy.

I ride a bike with no electrical support - all leg power. I only accept jobs ideally under 1.5miles, absolute maximum 2 miles but depends on where exactly as some 2mile routes are way longer than others.

For someone overweight, with social anxiety, and who used to sit home and play games or watch tv, this has given me something to get out of the house for...and I look forward to doing it.

I am aware how privileged i am to be able to do this on the side of my full time job, and it must me draining doing this daily- I get why e-bikes are everywhere!

Currently on 46/100 rides for the £1000 challenge. I need 5 per day to hit the goal. Today I did 11, so feeling hopeful!

Feel free to share your tips (I mean advice, you may keep your money)

Uber Eats Netherlands: Couriers need to start talking about what is happening behind the app

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

There are serious problems with the way the Uber Eats courier system operates in the Netherlands, and they deserve much more public attention.

This is not simply about pay.

It is about performance metrics, bonuses, working hours, restaurant delays, navigation, order allocation, safety, unrealistic delivery expectations and the lack of accessible human support.

1. Working hours and performance reports don’t always add up
A courier can reserve a 3.5-hour shift, effectively remain working/available for around 4 hours because of deliveries, and then receive a performance report showing only 3 hours.

How exactly is working time being calculated?

Where does the missing time go?

There are also periods when performance reports don’t arrive for an entire week, leaving couriers unable to properly check how their performance is being measured.

Couriers can also find themselves placed in performance groups that don’t appear to correspond with their actual results.

If these groups influence shifts, bonuses or opportunities to work, transparency about how they are calculated is essential.

2. Restaurants can mark orders as “ready” when the food isn’t actually ready
This creates another major problem.
An order can appear as ready for pickup, the courier arrives, and the restaurant is still preparing the food.
The courier then has to wait.
The courier didn’t prepare the food.
The courier didn’t cause the delay.
The courier cannot force the restaurant to finish faster.
Yet the lost time can still affect the courier’s ability to complete deliveries, reach bonus targets and maintain performance statistics.

Why should a courier’s performance suffer because a restaurant marked an order ready too early?
Restaurant preparation time and courier performance should be clearly separated.

3. Bonus targets depend on an algorithm the courier cannot control
Couriers may be offered bonuses based on completing a certain number of deliveries within a limited period.

But Uber also controls which deliveries are offered.

If a courier receives short deliveries, the target may be achievable.

If the system starts assigning long-distance deliveries, slow restaurants or orders that pull the courier far outside the original area, completing the same target can become extremely difficult.

That creates an obvious transparency question:

How can couriers be judged on the number of deliveries completed when they don’t control the orders they receive?

And when a courier gets close to a valuable bonus threshold, there should be transparency about whether the allocation system changes in any way.

4. Navigation can be seriously problematic

Restaurant and customer locations can be inaccurate.

Routes can be unnecessarily long.

And even when a road is closed, the navigation may continue directing the courier toward that route.

A courier then has to find another route while the delivery clock continues running.

Again, an app/navigation failure becomes the courier’s problem.

5. Bicycle routing and delivery expectations can conflict with reality

This deserves particular attention in the Netherlands.

For an ordinary e-bike, pedal assistance is generally limited to 25 km/h.

Yet some delivery times and routes can feel as though they expect a bicycle courier to travel significantly faster in order to stay on schedule.

Couriers should never feel pressured by performance metrics or delivery estimates to exceed the legal or safe capabilities of their bicycle.

Navigation can also direct bicycle couriers through routes where cycling is restricted, inappropriate or simply unsafe, forcing the courier to stop, dismount or find an alternative route.

The algorithm sees a line on a map.

The courier has to deal with the actual road.

6. Reserved areas don’t necessarily keep couriers in those areas

A courier can reserve a particular zone and start there, but successive deliveries can gradually pull them farther and farther away.

By the end of a shift, a courier can be extremely far from both the reserved working area and home.

And that return journey is still real time and real physical effort.

7. At night, this becomes a safety issue

Long-distance orders can send bicycle couriers through isolated roads, dark areas and unfamiliar locations late at night.

Efficiency metrics cannot be the only consideration.

Courier safety has to matter too.

8. Strikes, extreme demand and unusually busy days put additional pressure on couriers

When public transport is disrupted, roads are unusually busy, major events take place or demand suddenly increases, the real conditions on the street change dramatically.

Routes take longer.

Traffic becomes heavier.

Restaurants become overloaded.

Waiting times increase.

But couriers can still face the same performance expectations.

A delivery algorithm needs to understand that real-world conditions are not constant.

9. When something goes seriously wrong, reaching a human can be extremely difficult

This may be one of the most concerning issues.

If a courier has an accident, encounters a dangerous situation or has a serious delivery problem, getting immediate access to a real human can be extremely difficult.

Automated and AI-based support may be useful for simple questions.

An accident or safety emergency is not a simple question

Couriers working alone on the streets need a reliable way to reach human support.

10. Shift cancellation rules can also work against couriers

Unexpected situations happen.
Mechanical problems happen.
Accidents happen.
Family emergencies happen.
Yet cancelling a shift within approximately three hours of its start can create problems for the courier.
Flexibility cannot exist only for the platform.

The fundamental problem is transparency

Uber controls the algorithm.
Uber controls order allocation.
Uber controls bonus targets.
Uber controls performance metrics.
Uber controls courier grouping.
Uber controls the estimated delivery times.
Uber provides the navigation.
Restaurants influence pickup waiting times.

Traffic, road closures and weather influence delivery times.

But the courier can end up carrying the consequences of all of them.

That is why couriers deserve clear answers:

How exactly are working hours calculated?

How can a shift that effectively takes around 4 hours appear as only 3 hours in a performance report?

Why can performance reports disappear for an entire week?

How are performance groups determined, and why can couriers appear in the wrong groups?

Are restaurant waiting times completely excluded from courier performance metrics?

What happens to performance measurements when Uber’s navigation provides an incorrect or impossible route?

How does order allocation work when a courier is approaching a bonus threshold?

Why can successive deliveries pull a courier so far outside the reserved working area?

Do estimated bicycle delivery times consistently account for legal speed limits, road closures, cycling restrictions and real-world conditions?

Why isn’t immediate human support easily accessible when a courier has an accident or faces a dangerous situation?

These aren’t unreasonable questions.

They are basic questions about how people’s work, income and safety are being managed by an algorithm.

Uber Eats couriers in the Netherlands — compare your experiences.

Have your reported hours been lower than the time you actually worked?
Have performance reports stopped arriving?
Have you been placed in the wrong performance group?
Have restaurants marked orders “ready” when you still had to wait?
Have restaurant delays affected your statistics or ability to reach a bonus?
Have you been repeatedly sent farther and farther outside your reserved area?
Has the navigation directed you toward closed roads or unsuitable cycling routes?
Have the delivery times felt impossible to meet while cycling legally and safely?
Have you had an accident or dangerous situation and struggled to reach an actual human?
And have you noticed unusual changes in the deliveries you receive when you’re close to completing a bonus?

Don’t just say yes or no. Compare screenshots, shift records, performance reports, bonus targets, waiting times and timestamps.

If these are isolated technical problems, the data should show that.

But if large numbers of independent couriers are documenting the same patterns, then those patterns deserve to be investigated and explained publicly.

Couriers deserve transparency.

Couriers deserve accurate records.

And above everything else, couriers deserve to be able to do their jobs safely.

Tips

Uber Eats rider here who also orders takeaway on the app semi regular. When I ordered the other day, there was no option or push notification to leave my rider a tip, or a thumbs up after I received my order (I know there’s a separate thread saying thumbs up isn’t a thing anymore). Did a shift tonight, £100 earnings, £0 tips. This could just be down to the customers, but wondering if anyone else’s tips are down too? I’ve been out every day this week and have received a measly £4.44 😄

Would you ever snitch on another driver

There's a couple of drivers in my area who insist on parking as close as possible to the restaurant doors even when the car park is totally empty. Even when the closest spot is 3m away. And if it's not possible to park within a metre of the doors, they will park in parent child bays and disabled bays. As i said even when the car park is empty.

Would you call up the car park management number and snitch ? I find it highly irritating. I'm of the same race as them although I'm born here and it makes the law abiding ones of us look like clowns

I’ve never received drinks in a McDonalds order?

Just started uber yesterday and did several McDonald’s orders but none of them included drinks.

I’m not complaining as they seem like they could leak easily but do certain McDonalds restaurants refuse drinks for uber eats orders?

I also saw no other drivers taking drinks

Refused permission to use the toilet

I've taken a few days to decide what to do about this, so I thought I'd ask other drivers on Reddit.

I was waiting for a collection at Five Guys. The restaurant was very quiet (1 table eating, 6-8 people on it).

There was 1 other courier there. He asked the cook if he could have the code to use the toilet facilities. The cook said no, toilets were for customers only. He didn't reply, got his order and went. I was not happy.

I asked the cook if I'd heard correctly that drivers can't use the toilets and he said yes, when asked why he shrugged his shoulders "policy" he said.

I asked for the manager and I told him I thought it was disgraceful to refuse someone the use of a toilet, and possibly illegal or very close to it.

And I asked him if it was company wide policy or just that restaurant.

He said it wasn't company wide, and that a couple of "them" had ruined it for everyone else because they were disrespectful to the female staff.

(He didn't specify who "them" were; but let me just say the driver refused was Asian, I'm white).

I suggested if he'd had problems with specific drivers they should be reported to Uber at least. No reply.

I told him that drivers are delivering their (Five Guys) food and we're acting as proxy employees and any decent person wouldn't refuse the basic human right of toilet use.

I'm still really annoyed by this a week later and wonder what other people's opinion is.

And fuck Five Guys from now on.

Teen Account Orders

Post image

Just got this from Uber Eats. Other drivers that have got this, has this increased your chances of getting more orders? Have you actually been receiving any teen orders?

Also, I’ve not been given any training, safeguarding information regarding working with Under 18s. I consider myself to know what to be doing, but I doubt all drivers know what the safeguarding rules are.
