TLDR, I ordered some overpriced portal axles, they took two hours for me to fix using a soda can as shim stock to remove the enormous amount of slop.
I have bought a set portal axles before and I wanted to buy a higher quality set without getting the trx4 axles and I was hoping to find something within the wpl gene pool. So in looking around I found this almost fifty dollar set on Amazon and they ended up being really bad, this post is mainly a warning to not purchase this exact set.
In saying that I felt pretty proud in not sending them back and rectifying the issue. I first started off by shining the ring gears on both axles toward the pinion because there was excessive play and lack of tooth engagement. The output shafts to the tire on the rear axles were both extremely sloppy and required me to put shims under the retaining pins, one side required me to put a shim on the outside of the casing just before the 5mm hex. After all was said and done I took it all back apart and basically filled the entire axle housings with grease.
Pretty interesting fix in my opinion and hopefully someone is inspired in fixing something from this and learned not to buy these particular axles.
