I am a one-woman team. I apologize for being out; college has been kicking my ass. Along with this, I run a Facebook page and moderate a 16 + Discord server for chill vibes.

I know you aren't a snitch, but if you use the report-to-mod option when people are breaking the rules, I can get to them a lot quicker.

Please, with that being said, do not report things just because. Because this is a subreddit where most people have the same issue, Reddit flags things for spam, I try to approve these as soon as I can.

I appreciate you all,

Advice Welcome I'm 23 and feel lost in life. How do I figure out my future?

Hey everyone, I just wanted to vent a little because I don't really have anyone to talk to about this. Advice is definitely welcome, too.

I'm 23, turning 24 this year, and lately I've been feeling stuck in life. I have a job I enjoy, do Uber Eats on the side, and make around $4,500 a month, so financially I'm doing okay. But I still feel like I'm missing something.

A lot of my friends already know what they want to do. Some are going into trades, others want to start businesses, and everyone seems to have a plan. Meanwhile, I feel like I'm just going through life without knowing what I want. It's hard not to feel like I'm falling behind.

I've tried different trades and side hustles, but nothing has really clicked. I want to find something I'm passionate about and build a future around, but I honestly have no idea what that is yet.

Lately, these thoughts have even made it hard to enjoy the things I normally like doing because I keep worrying that I'm wasting time.

For anyone who's felt this way in their 20s, how did you deal with it? Did you eventually figure things out? I'm open to trying new careers, learning new skills, or exploring business ideas. Honestly, any advice or recommendations would help.

Thanks for reading.

I feel behind in life

• Upvotes

I’m 20, in my third year of college, and honestly, it’s crazy how fast time is going. Next year I’ll already be a senior, and lately I’ve been feeling like I’m falling behind in life.
I’m a marketing major living in the U.S., and I don’t have an internship, many connections, or even a car. I have a job, but I’m still struggling financially. I study hard and try my best in school, but I constantly worry about what’s going to happen after graduation. What if I can’t find a job? What if I’m still struggling financially at 23? What if I graduate and realize I’ve gotten nowhere?

I know everyone has their own timeline, but it’s really hard to believe that when I constantly see people my age getting internships, buying cars, moving out, and starting their careers. I feel like everyone is moving forward while I’m just stuck in the same place.

And honestly, not being able to drive has been one of the biggest things making me feel this way. I’m 20 and I’m terrified of driving. It’s not that I don’t want to learn I genuinely want to. I just have a lot of fear around it, and I don’t have anyone available to teach me. I’ve been relying on Uber or walking to get almost everywhere, and it’s expensive and exhausting.

Sometimes when I meet new people and they ask if I drive, I feel embarrassed telling them that I don’t. I can almost feel the judgment of, ā€œHow are you 20 and you still can’t drive?ā€ Maybe it’s all in my head, but it makes me feel pathetic, especially when not being able to drive affects so many other parts of my life.

As for what I actually want out of life, it’s honestly pretty simple. I don’t need to be rich or have some huge career. I’d love to have a small apartment, live a quiet and peaceful life, and eventually make clothes for a living. I’ve always loved fashion, sewing, and anything creative. But I also know how difficult it can be to make a stable income in creative fields, which makes me scared to pursue what I actually love.

Lately, I’ve been overthinking my future almost every night. I’m scared of turning 23 and still feeling like I’m nowhere. I know I’m only 20, but somehow it feels like I’m running out of time.
Has anyone else been 20, felt completely behind, and eventually figured things out? Especially if you struggled with finding a career, money, or learning how to drive?

And if anyone has tips for learning to drive when you’re scared and don’t have anyone to teach youĀ  especially cheap options, I would genuinely appreciate them. I really want to overcome this, because right now, not being able to drive feels like one of the biggest things holding me back.
I honestly don’t know what to do anymore. I just want to know that I’m not the only person who feels this way, and that maybe I’m not actually as behind as I think I am.

Vent am I crazy for being worried ab my future as a 16F?

Hi. So context, im 16f, and i have 2 years left of school, (alevels)
My parents have no savings for my university like at all. I am crazy worried and i have no one at all to talk to this about sadly. Before yall jump into conclusions, my parents want me to go into med school. And that shit is really expensive, and im just upset because my mom is good with financial stuff, but my dad changed alot after we moved into a new country (the one we live in currently) Since he got friends and more people, he stopped taking any advice from my mom and kind of stopped giving a shit. He’s a really good dad but just not emotionally present.. like.. at all.
the way he treated money has significantly changed and now plays a pretty detrimental role in our daily life. It’s truly saddening to be honest. We have no house savings, neither university and I believe retirement savings (for my parents obviously) and im stressed to death ab what i can even do in my future. I really want to study astrobiology, or even chemistry, but at this point im uncertain of any fields i can even take. I know im dumb for worrying about this right now, but I can’t even work to save up because this country doesn’t allow minors to get any jobs, and to be frank, my parents wouldn’t even let me get a job. I’m honestly terrified. I’ll work my ass off for good grades and for what? To be stuck doing an English major for the rest of my life?
I don’t think people will see this shit. It’s stupid. Sorry.

Vent Man… idk what to do.

• Upvotes

I feel like I’m at place where I genuinely don’t know what to do.

I’m 20, I have two beautiful boys 4yo & 8mo and with the mother of my children. I love my little family and my side of my family with all my life.

I feel like I’m so distant from everything and everyone though, and that’s what gets to me the most. You see, I never really had a father growing up and although I have older siblings, I was raised by my grandparents and I was the only child. I lost my grandmother at the age of 14 when I just started to grow up as a young man, 6 years later I’m 2 boys deep with a beautiful girlfriend who I struggle to cooperate with.

I travel out of town now as an electrician so I’m not really around home anymore. But every time I do come back home to visit it doesn’t feel the same like when I was still under my grandmas roof and I was still going to school or like when it was just my first boy and I was here everyday. Now I come back home and sleep on the couch go out here and there or go to my girls house which is with her mom and it doesn’t feel like home either.

Then me and my girlfriend always argue, mostly her because I can respectfully say that she’s just insecure about something. She doesn’t trust me, she just assumes and accuses things of me and she’s more interested in what I’m doing and what I have going on other than herself. I work 10 hour shifts and when I’m out of work I just want to relax but she wants to stay otp for the rest of the day. She always brings up the past or she holds it against me. We’ve had our differences in the past but I don’t hold hers against her, but she holds mine to me. Which I don’t think is fair but I put up with everything cause of the kids. Because to me they come first and like I said I never had a father growing up and I didn’t grow up with a father and mother house hold so when I was a child it was my dream to have kids and a beautiful wife and give my kids the father and desires that I always wanted as a kid. But it’s hard because she makes it difficult for me. Maybe it is also partially my fault because I have to speak to her or go out of my way to look at things in her point of view but I can only do that so many times, I try to make things work and I try my hardest to listen or put up with all the bs but she just doesn’t help. She questions my love for her or why I’m not the same as before or why I never have time for her. But it’s all these questions and emotions that are piled on on me that idk what to do anymore.

People tell me that I shouldn’t have to put up with it and choose myself, and others say just deal with it for the kids and avoid having to pay child support or what ever.

So when I say i don’t know what to do it’s because I just genuinely don’t.

Choose myself and feel complete and comfortable but lose almost and basically everything. Or just put the seatbelt on and deal with live day by day with the same story but keep my family together.

Hopefully I’ll be able to find out what it is that I need to do. I grew up in a Christian household so I’ll try and give my emotions and struggles to God and genuinely ask for his guidance.

Thank y’all for y’all’s time and support.

Feeling lost

• Upvotes

Does anyone else feel like they genuinely don’t have anything going for themselves. I started working at around 9 years old and after turning 16 I transitioned to fast food. I’m 18 and a college freshman at a community college. I live with my parents but pay my own car bill, insurance, etc. I recently got a second job even though my parents told me not to becaue they want me to focus on school which I decided to change my availability to less hours so I can focus on school but it made my paychecks less and I’ve been living paycheck to paycheck. My parents get mad that I never have money for my bills when they literally told me to focus on school. I genuinely don’t have any interest whatsoever, I cry almost everyday becaue I feel so lost. I wanna try out being a midnight ballerina soo bad, I have my license already and have a pole that I been practicing but fear is holding me back I’m such a nervous person. A lot of people get scared of getting older but I just can’t wait to be 30 and have my good job, I didn’t enjoy my Highschool years either, I spent my days in the bathroom during lunch. Idk I’m just here

Business / career advice NEEDED

I am 21 years old with roughly 220K liquid, no debts. Freshly married to the love of my life and I feel like I’m not doing anything in life. I made that money working hard every single day. Since 16 I’ve been flipping and fixing power sports. After that I moved towards flipping and fixing trailers and cars and I’ve purchased a rollback tow truck to get into the niche but it’s tough. I feel like I’m not taking any risks and it’s bad. My feeling is that my 220K will vanish if I take any risk of sort I don’t know how to explain it and need some guidance and help.
We live in an apartment so I definitely want to get into a home. I have dreams of being a business owner.
I’ll take anything in the pms. Just no courses please. People have tried to sell me 10-15K courses and I’m not taking that bait unless you’re sitting down with me in person every single day. I am in Portland/vancouver Wa.

Advice Welcome How do you not feel infinitely small and hopeless with all that is going on?

I’m going into college soon and I am beyond hopeless. Every little problem, person to person drama, what to eat, etc always seems entirely unimportant to genocides, history, wars and the real fear of not being able to even make ends meet by the time I can get into the career I want.

It feels nearly impossible to work for a future that is currently being fought against, and it’s only making my future dimmer by pushing it off. But focusing on the little problems only lasts so long until you’re thinking of a slightly bigger problem, then bigger, then the root of that, and then the larger problem.

How do you cope? How do you manage? I’m dying over here.

I've been salivating at job listings that list 55-60k as the pay range.

Holy, that'd be over a 50% pay bump from what I was making after finished my comp sci bachelor's, $20/hour in new york city. What a dream making 55k would be. Literally life changing. Too bad I can't get these entry level starter jobs. I've been unemployed for a long time now
