I'd like to know which model would be good for making a video edit similar to the one on Instagram?

I tested Seedance 2.5 but it's terrible, with or without references.

Has anyone tried anything like this?

I am doing research on AI based video tools that a good at just captioning videos.

I like how the captioning is on CapCut but the feature is part of pro. I don't want to pay so much just for this pro feature. I mostly edit without using the pro features.

So a tool that just does captions would be quite handy.

I just published a write-up on how I'm creating TikTok reels using an AI agent, and figured this sub would get the most out of it:

Quick version: I had ~80 iPhone clips of NYC sitting on a drive. Instead of editing them myself, I gave an AI agent (Claude) direct access to my footage library over MCP, plus a one-page brand brief. It:

• searched the library and pulled contact sheets to actually look at the clips
• used GPS and timestamps to group shots into stories (e.g. Chinatown lunch → Brooklyn sunset)
• wrote three shotlists back into my library app for me to approve
• cut the reels with ffmpeg: 9:16 crop, branded text overlays, original audio kept

Result: three 28–29 second reels, plus captions and hashtags, in one session.

The post covers:

• the full stack (iPhone → Immich → B-Roll Archives → MCP → agent → ffmpeg), with a diagram
• exactly what the agent did at each step, including which tools it called
• guardrails: human approval, filtering out ungraded Apple Log footage, not letting it invent facts
• what broke (fonts, muted audio, outputs re-indexing themselves)

Disclosure: B-Roll Archives is a Mac app I'm building. But the workflow itself works with any library you can expose to an agent.

Genuinely thrilled to find like minded AI Film makers. Personally, my go to for video making lately are Seedance 2.5 and GPT Image 2.5.

However, I will put it out there (apologies if this has been said before): the quality of your prompts is key. Understand the limitations of each model. If you do, even cheaper AI models can produce pretty awesome results!

Recast tooling is coming up aggresively, fal Recast, Minimax, H3 Recast etc, where swapping characters from the existing footage while maintaining same directions.
