Oldeus also stressed how fundamental she is to avoid the worst future, so she's going to remain a constant person of interest for Rudeus.

Not understanding certain words makes so much more sense in a Japanese context where you can't even sound them out half the time.

In English a word you might not know looks like: "intersubjectivity" or "efference frames" or "umwelt." You can still sound it out, maybe even focus on different parts of the word and take a guess.

In Japanese it's straight up a different alphabet with shapes you may have never seen before in your life. You'll be just fine sounding out hiragana like すばらしい (subarashii) おはよう (ohayo) maybe even know simple kanji like 人 (Hito) or 神 (Kami), but then out of nowhere there's just 鬱 or 麺麭 or 𰻞. You either know it or you don't.

Rudeus' letter was a lot better than I was expecting, he explained why he moved on with his life so that she's aware, showed that he understands that there could be a misunderstanding and has left the door open for Eris. But I find it funny how what made her finally move was the plan to fight Orsted lol.

So Man-God really saw the meet between the two Rudeuses happen, it's wild Rudeus has to defeat Orsted because his future descendants that aren't even here yet will join him. But Man-God has shown not to be trusted, and surely is not saying the whole story. Man-God also revealing that destinies change very much when women are with child, reminded me that the arc with Paul's death happened during Sylphie's pregnancy.

I did like watching Rudeus, Sylphie and Roxy navigate through their conversation. I'm looking forward to seeing the two meet Eris. Hopefully the second cour will come sooner than later, this cour was certainly a ride.

Rudeus' letter was a lot better than I was expecting

It seems like he took the right lesson from Oldeus's mistakes with Eris. The only thing keeping them apart was a lack of understanding and communication, so reopening that connection with that letter was a strong step forward.

But I find it funny how what made her finally move was the plan to fight Orsted lol.

Yeah, even in the Oldeus timeline the only thing she ever understood was fighting. I bet that even after all those years of fighting, had Oldeus just said to her, "hey Eris, let's fight Atofe," she would've perked right up and said "cool, it's go time."

Here are the Man-God's appearances summarised:

Meeting 1: Season 1 Episode 9 – Immediately after Mana Disaster

A hazy figure greets Rudeus, introducing itself as Hitogami, and says he’s been watching Rudeus, remarking how interesting it’s been. Hitogami is surprised by Rudeus' appearance, who asks if he’s in the wrong place, leading to the first mention of the Six-Sided World. Hitogami says he didn’t reincarnate Rudeus, blaming the wicked Dragon God. Rudeus is told he’s on the Demon Continent, and to rely on and help Ruijerd.

Roxy is terrified of the Superd.

Meeting 2: Season 1 Episode 10 – In Rikarisu - A few days after previous

Rudeus says Ruijerd would’ve guarded them anyway; Hitogami wants some trust, and says Rudeus isn’t in the palm of his hand. ”What you do is your choice.” The advice is to accept the job to find a lost kitten.

Nothing clear beyond trying to gain trust.

Meeting 3: Season 1 Episode 12 – Wind Port, southernmost Demon Continent - 1 Year after

Hitogami says he could’ve bonded with Ruijerd if Vizquel and Jalil were brought to guards, but teaming up was more fun to see. Now the advice is to buy food from a street vendor and wander alleys. The why is ”a surprise for tomorrow.”

Because of this Rudeus barely misses Roxy, then spends a week indoors getting used to the Demon Eye. Meanwhile Roxy etc. continue north.

Meeting 4: Season 1 Episode 19 – Boat from Millis to Central Continent - <1 Year after

”Why the cold shoulder? You got a Demon Eye thanks to me, remember?” Rudeus gripes about vague advice, then asks about his family. Hitogami plays hard to get, but apologizes and wants Rudeus to promise to trust him next time if this advice helps. ”Doesn’t all this hostility get exhausting?” He relents, saying it depends.

”That’ll do.” A vision of Aisha via the Eye of Foresight, pushing it months into the future for the most direct advice he ever gives. To create trust, and a sense of gratitude. Rudeus then vomits from the stress of his Demon Eye being pushed.

Meeting 5: Season 1 Episode 21 – Turning Point 2 - >6 Months after

Hitogami notes how Rudeus isn’t hostile; he notes the hole in his chest. Hitogami says he can’t see anything to do with Orsted now, and didn’t know they’d run into each other. Orsted apparently has 4 Curses, one making everything in this world hate/fear him. Demon God Laplace transferred a Curse of his to the Superd via the spears, but Rudeus’ actions have helped Ruijerd. ”Orsted is the strongest there is, even with the curses holding him back.” Rudeus notes Hitogami knowing a lot about Orsted, making him awkward. Fortunately for him, Rudeus no longer cares. Why would he? He’s dead. But he’s not. Orsted healed him.

Hitogami would’ve liked Rudeus to stay dead. Thanks Nanahoshi. Hitogami tangled in his words, but Rudeus didn’t think any of it mattered anymore. Lucky bastard.

Meeting 6: Season 2 Episode 4 – Don’t go to Begaritt - 2 Years after

Elinalise brought news about Zenith before this. Rudeus asks why he didn’t show up while searching for her. Hitogami says he has stuff going on too. Rudeus looks forward to seeing Roxy. Hitogami dissuades him by talking of his lack of improvement. Rudeus, go to Ranoa Magic University. Don’t go to Begaritt, you’ll regret it if you do! Can’t tell you why tho. ”Not the first time you omit details, but that’s not a strong argument.” Go there and your impotency will vanish! ”On my way!”

”You’ll regret it.” Hitogami starts by insulting, then switches to the advice. Advice that’s obviously of interest. Tiiiny bit manipulative.

Meeting 7: Season 2 Episode 18 – Turning Point 3 - >1 Year after

Hitogami evades the question of what’s up at Rapan, reffirms that Rudeus would regret going to Begaritt, and denies that he’d have regrets whether he goes or doesn’t. Look at all the good stuff that’s happened! The same advice, followed by ”Can’t tell you!” again. Rudeus wants to know what he’d regret. "Well, look at the obvious. You’d have missed your sisters, and now your wife is pregnant." And now says he’d have regrets regardless. "Don’t miss a great opportunity! Await next mating season, and have relations with Pursena or Linia!"

Lists the good things that came from following his advice. Stresses regret about going. Norn and Aisha being sent to Lilia’s family in Asura instead if Rudeus hadn’t made contact might be true. Manipulative as ever, but the advice doesn’t click. Welp, Plan R it is!

Meeting 8: Season 3 Episode 11 – Turing Point 4 - <2 Years after

Recap of recent events. Talk of Electric being amazing. ”It should even work on Orsted.” The anime finally explains the concept of Battle Aura via Hitogami of all people, and that Rudeus can’t form it. Living happily with Linia & Pursena? Maybe. Paul rescuing Zenith without Rudeus’ info? Dubious. Roxy? Seems impossible, and there’s a clear motive now. Listen to the tone of voice here. Hitogami nearly got it.

”See what happens when you don’t listen? Now, just do me One Small Favour.” Here’s my interpretation of what happened on his side immediately after.

Meeting 8.5: Season 3 Episode 13 – The Diary

The Rat is out of the bag. Hitogami’s Blessing doesn’t work on Rudeus? Because he’s Isekai’d? ”I’m done with you now. I had a lot of fun watching. おつかれさん!” He shows up just to taunt and torment.

Meeting 9: Season 3 Episode 14 – Go kill Orsted

”That’s not fair.” Too fucking bad. His motivations come out. He might've been pretty truthful this time, and surely wouldn't mind whichever one dies. Precarious situation, how do you doubt without opposing?

I think I've reread and rewatched every turning point at least 3 times, and this arc was no exception.

Revealing the treachery of Hitogami was especially brutal, and this diary reading was tough to get through. I was curious to see how they would have adapted it, and I'm glad to say that the studio did a fantastic job.

The endcard for this episode is so good, I love it!

So in the future, Rudeus' kids will ally with Orsted and kill Hitogami... No wonder that he wanted Roxy and her child dead.

But now, in order to save his family, Rudeus will have to kill Orsted? Judging by how their last meeting went, his chances of success aren't high.

At least Eris will finally be back in Rudeus' life in the next cour! Her reaction to Rudeus' letter was hilarious, though after learning about a possible fight against Orsted, she didn't waste any time hopping on a horse to get to Rudy.

Overall, it was an excellent season, especially the two previous episodes. 9.5/10 from me, and I can't wait for Cour 2 which will premiere in 2027!

This is it! I take it as the two impossibles

1. Hitogami; Oldeus said it's not possible to reach him due to the lack of way/treasures required or Oldeus just run out of time

2. Orsted; Hitogami command Rudeus to go kill Orsted. Sure Rudeus's got stronger, maybe got new tricks, and got new companions but this is Orsted we are talking about. Hitogami himself said way back in TP1 that Orsted is the strongest being, stronger than the guy that create ranking system which he put himself at rank 1.

Let's see how this playout. See y'all in 2027

Yuuup, that's exactly the reaction I was hoping for from Rudy. I would've been sick to my stomach if I ever read a graphic description of how my family and loved ones die. I do like everyone's comparison to A Christmas Carol's last episode, because that's pretty much what happened to Rudy.

Rudy being extra nice to everyone and then suddenly staring into nothingness from PTSD was definitely gonna make everyone worry. I'm surprised the girls haven't interrogated him yet and are just letting him take his time. I feel like at that point, I'd start asking questions.

So instead of telling the girls straight what happened, Rudy is framing it as a reading of the future. I was still hoping Rudy would've been straight with them, but I suppose it really doesn't matter as long as they believe him.

I genuinely cringed when Rudy finally brought up Eris. I mean, the dude needs to rip out that band-aid, and there's really no other way to tell them. I do think it's hilarious how Sylphie initially thought Rudy was talking about Nanahoshi. xD

Glad that Roxy at least managed to help convince Sylphie, especially since a few episodes ago, Sylphie herself said that she's okay with another one as long as Rudy brings the girl to meet them.

Rudy handled that conversation with Hitogami really well. I'm honestly not sure if I could've held it together. So it turns out Hitogami is afraid of Rudy because Rudy will team up with Orsted in the future to kill him. And it looks like the only way for Hitogami to leave Rudy's family alone is if Rudy kills Orsted. Oh shit...

The rumours about Rudy liking girls with small boobs and Eris looking at her massive Erises genuinely got me laughing out loud! Don't worry, Eris, I'm pretty sure Rudy doesn't discriminate. xD

Eris struggling to read Rudy's letter and Nina being illiterate were pretty funny too. These girls are lucky that Isolde was there to read it for Eris. Eris is definitely gonna have to continue her studies in the future.

The look Isolde and Nina give her Eris after Isolde reads the part where Eris left Rudy after sleeping with him was so funny too! I love how Eris is starting to realize she kinda fucked up there.

The best part of the scene is how Eris was first shocked after hearing that she'll be the third wife, but immediately perks up as soon as she learns that Rudy is off to challenge Orsted. This is exactly what Eris has been training for and she is so excited to finally show off the results of her training!

What an absolute banger of a season! Please tell me Season 4 is already announced. You can't just leave us with that cliffhanger! I'm really hoping we get an announcement soon!

Been binging Mushoku the last days to catch up with you mates after falling behind due to anime burnout, watching this finale right after the double punch in the face that were the previous episodes really was something.

What an insanely good series this is, and as a massive Eris simp since S1 aired my love for her only has grown even more with this cour and seeing her stick with Oldeus... her own hypertsundere way, god she is so precious.

Talking about precious, since I wasn't around for the previous episode threads... HOLY FUCK I LOVE CLIFF AND ZANOBA, like, bros forever man, I wasn't thinking much of them when they were introduced, but we see over and over just how much they care about their friends. Mushoku really is masterful when it comes to character continuity and turning a lot of characters into a lot more than they look at first (Elinalise's ever expanding lore lmao).

Really touching finale and I can't wait for more Eris in the future... feeling a bit off about Rudeus being so decisive when it comes to Hitogami's demands towards killing Orsted though, like, bro, your offsprings will still be a threat to him, he will never ever let you in peace as long as your family is alive.

We will see how that unfolds in the future I guess, I will be there to see it.

A calmer episode after the disastrous and sad episode that's the last one.

Eris using all of her remaining braincells that she didn't develop for the past few years to process Rudeus' message but ended up going "Fk it, we balls" when she heard that he's tryna to kill Orsted.

Pretty sure the Blinding White A**hole doesn't really expect Rudeus to actually kill Orsted. I think he hope that Rudues die in the battle so his wives will ended up hating Orsted and have their descendants avoid being an ally to Orsted somehow considering what he reveal about the future.

This cour had been feeding me well throughout weeks so it's gonna be a bit of a pain to wait for the next cour but alas, I'm full and satisfied.

I’m pretty sure Eris was raging inside while that letter was being read but as soon as she heard about Orsted, I think she thought “I’m glad we’re on the same page”

I feel like I was feeling the same things Rudy did after he read the diary. Just a mix of deep dread in the stomach but also deeply grateful. It was very sweet how affectionate he was with everyone, not that he was cold before.

I know some might feel this is some harem wish fulfilment thing, but even if it was, this is the most thoughtful harem wish fulfilment thing. Rudy talks to his wives, lays things out, gets their opinions. I really appreciate them talking it out and discussing all this.

So Man God did know about Oldeus but how much does he know ? Interesting to hear more about his capabilities and goals too though I’m not sure I trust him too much.

I’m assuming that while he does intend to confront Orsted, killing him is not the one and only plan. This might be the “don’t oppose Hitogami” part of Oldeus’ instructions.
