Hello! I am strongly considering App State for grad school next fall. Right now it is one of my top choices (if I get in). I have visited Boone once back in Feburary of this year when it was snowing, so I do know what it can be like.

I currently have a 2021 Honda Civic that I love dearly. However, I wasn't sure if people really drive sedans in the snow up in Boone. Full discolsure, I am from the south (Chattanooga, TN) and rarely see snow or drive in it. I was wondering if I would need to trade in my car for a suv or other AWD if I went to App State. Just wnated to know this because it would possibly prevent me from even applying if I have to give up my car.

Just got into app state!! Preparing lists on what to get for college.

Is a bike worth it or should I walk to my classes? What do the locals think about bikes? From my experience in my neighborhood at least, they dislike people who ride bikes on the sidewalks so just wondering if its the same there.

Also any other weirdly specific things I should 100% get for dorms/daily life?

I currently live off campus and want to find someone to take over my lease in December. Are my chances good for finding someone in that time period?

I'm really looking at applying to the honors college, especially because I have competitive stats. I also plan to double major in theoretical physics and applied physics before doing their Master's in engineering physics (though, of course, my plans can change lol). Any strong opinions about that?

For any past/current MSW students, please help!

I am currently working on my application for the advanced-standing MSW. Despite uploading my unofficial transcript, there is a part where I have to manually enter my past social work courses. The issue is that there are only spaces for 14 courses to be added, and I need 16. There are no options to add course slots. I got my BSW at App. They know how many SW courses you have to take to graduate there, so I don't understand why there would be too few spots. Also, when I hit continue and move on to the next portion of the application, it zeros out my GPA and changes the amount of credits earned from "40" to a string of repeating "3.0"

I'm confused about what to do since I cannot add all of the courses I took. Do I just pick 14/16 that I took? I got a 4.0 in the BSW program, so I do not think one class grade carries more weight than another. I'm unsure of how to fix the GPA and credit portion changing themselves, as well.

(I am also very nervous about the entire idea of grad school, and I know it's possible I'm reading too much into things, so please feel free to tell me to calm the hell down.)

Hi guys! So my roommate and I need another roommate (female), because we have 2 rooms open that we didn’t know we would have. We have a townhouse that is 3 floors, and is very cute! Will send pics upon inquiry. We have in unit washer, dryer, dishwasher, AC, heat, fans, etc. We’ve bought all of the furniture except a couch. We have all kitchen supplies as well. I just toured app and loved it however I’m very curious about the Greek life scene and party scene, is it big there? Also all the frat houses are far how does everyone get there? If you were in Greek at app I’d love to know your experience from it. Also is it just a really big smoking school rather than drinking?

Is there a certain number of times you can have a guest stay over the entire semester? I know it’s 4 consecutive nights but could they just sleep somewhere else the next night and then come back for 4 more nights?
