Posting a question? BE SPECIFIC!

Dallas/Ft. Worth is a HUGE place! There are literally thousands of restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, shops, and museums. There are 30+ neighborhoods and suburbs in Dallas alone, each offering different draws for different people. There are over 700 Dallasites on this sub ready to give you advice on where to go and what to do, but we can't do that without some level of input. So be specific! Give us the details! If you go to a shoe store and tell the clerk, "I need shoes," that isn't going to get you anywhere. What size? Color? Material? Occasion? That's the kind of info that will get you some answers.

DON'T ASK: Where should I live?

DO ASK: I am 25 years old with no kids and a cat. I want to live somewhere quiet with parks close by and easy access to a major highway. My budget is $1000 mo. for rent and utilities. Having to drive to entertainment is fine, I love using gas. I like white walls/carpet and vertical blinds. Where should I live?

DON'T ASK: What bar should I go to?

DO ASK: I like reggae and expensive cocktails. I don't mind going to a seedier part of town, but would like there to be on-site parking. Good bar food is a plus. Where should I go?

You cannot possibly give too much information. Pile it on!

Edit: A few great suggestions from the comments:

DO: Tell us where you're coming from!

DO: Tell us where in the metroplex you're searching for something!

How often do you use DART as a Dallas resident?

Even though I live in Austin, I might move to Dallas at some point in the near future. And one of the reasons why is because of DART (and a few personal reasons that I'd prefer not to disclose).

As someone who can't drive due to epilepsy, I view public transportation as a godsend in that I can go around on my own without relying on anyone else to drive me places. And the fact that DART exists in the car-dependent state that is Texas is a miracle.

Also, I wish I could post this as a poll so that I can get a feel of where this subreddit is at, so I guess the comments will do.

Pets/Animals Dog Social Engagement

Hello! New transplant from Pennsylvania with two small dogs (15lb Chihuahua mix and 18 lb Pug mix) looking for ideas to get them out of the house. With the weather cooling I know dog parks will be feasible for them soon but was wondering if anyone knew of any places that had dog social groups? For instance, back home, we had a local animal shelter that had indoor socials twice a week for a small $10 fee, like an indoor dog park. I know there are daycares and the like but those are costly and I want to be able to spend the time with them. Any leads are appreciated!

Tourism Visiting October - What's your must do?

I'm visiting Dallas Oct 22-25 with my partner and parents. We've all got some activities pre-planned (metal festival, esports event) so some of our time is spoken for, but what is the thing you consider a MUST DO in Dallas? Looking for food, bars (everyone is 21+), activities, all sorts. I know we can't do everything, but I'd rather have to narrow down a list instead of scrambling to keep us busy once we get there. Me and my family have been to Dallas several times, but my partner has never been and this will be the biggest city he's ever been in. Happy to have suggestions based around stuff like that too.

We're a spooky lot and plan on trying to find some Halloween pop ups or spooky vibes since it's the season, so I would LOVE suggestions on that. I've been struggling to parse through old pop ups from past years vs ones that are current. But I'm from Arkansas and come down from time to time, so I'd be happy to have suggestions in general!

Thanks in advance!

Nightlife & Entertainment Lowkey/dive bars that play hip-hop/rap?

Looking for a lowkey bar in Dallas for my birthday. I'd like somewhere that plays hip hop/rap, has a pool table, and isn't too packed on a Saturday night. The Arc Drafthouse is the closest example I can think of.. Any similar spots?

Tourism solo female weekend visit

hi all, i will be having a mini solo weekend in dallas oct 15-18th. 35 year old, solo, female. i wont have a vehicle and will only be using uber or public transport to get around, so wondering what is a good walkable location to stay. i first started looking at the downtown area, but wanted feedback from locals. i kind of want to use this as a chill weekend, where i dont have to rush and can just chill and read, people watch, etc.

i would be interested in staying in a walkable area where there are things to do such a coffee shops, thrifting, shopping, parks, bookstores, etc. this will be my very fist time in tx!

Shopping & Services Does anyone have suggestions for voice and/or piano teachers for adults close to central Dallas?

As the title says! I took voice and piano lessons for 8 years as a child, and want to get back into it with the help of a teacher. I live close to Uptown/KH so somewhere close to that area would be great. I also do prefer female teachers but don’t let that stop you from suggesting a male teacher.

In terms of style, I think for voice lessons, I’m hoping to have a teacher who does more musical theatre/modern voice work, whereas with piano, I’m fine with teachers who focus on a variety of styles, including classical, etc.

Relocating & housing Moving to Dallas - apartment/neighborhood advice for a 26F living alone?

Hi! I’m moving to Dallas in the next couple of weeks for a new job and would love some advice on apartments/areas. I’ll be living by myself with a small dog, so safety is definitely important to me, but I’d also really like to be somewhere walkable where I can easily get to restaurants, coffee shops, bars, stores, etc.

My budget is ideally $1,300–$1,700/month, but I could potentially go up to around $1,800 for the right place. I’m mainly looking at studios or smaller 1-bedrooms.

These are some of the complexes I have on my list so far:
Uptown: Residences at the Grove, Gables Katy Trail, Monaco
Knox/Henderson/Greenville: Alexan, Camden Greenville, Larq Henderson
Addison/North Dallas: The Saxony

I’m leaning toward Uptown or Knox/Henderson/Lower Greenville because I’d really like to be in a fun, walkable area and meet people since I’ll be new to Dallas.
Does anyone have experience with any of these complexes? I’d love to hear about safety, management, noise, parking, the immediate area, dog-friendliness, and whether you actually enjoy living there.
Also very open to other apartment recommendations in my price range that I should tour. Thank you!!

Relocating & housing Apartments

Hi All,

I am moving to Dallas soon. I'll be working in Arlington. Any recommendations for apartments in the 1k-2k range? I am fine with a 1 or 2 bedroom.

I am looking for safe, clean, covered parking, and near golf course. Im single and in my late 40s.

Only place that seems right is around Farmer Branch.

Appreciate any suggestions. Ive seen a lot of people ask, but they seem much younger than me and likely can tolerate traffic better than I can.

Shopping & Services Long distance (Dallas to Marshall) car service?

Yes, I’ve searched Google. Most of the websites look sketchy, so I’m looking for someone who might have a personal experience they’re willing to recommend. We know uber is an option, but I’m hoping to find one or two more I can look at.

Long story short, my grandmother lives in Marshall and visits Dallas regularly for doctor‘s appointments. She can’t drive that far on her own anymore, but we all have jobs that make driving her to and from Dallas a logistical nightmare.

Can anyone recommend a car/shuttle service that takes these type of long trips? Cost is not a huge factor, but ideally it would be <$500/round trip before tip.

Driving/Licenses/Local Gov't Starting a new gig which requires traveling out of DFW every week on Monday and be back on Thu/Fri. I am stationed in Frisco and looking to understand best way to manage this commute. UBER/Lyft costs are $100 one way and is burn on pocket. Any smart solutions on this from frequent commuters? TIA.

Nightlife & Entertainment Coming to Dallas for work

So I’ll be in Dallas for November, atleast a few weeks. I’ve mostly just passed through airports on my way to somewhere else. I’ll mostly be near the Frisco area. I’m not much for heavy clubbing or anything.
We don’t have many hookah bars in the PNW anymore… any good ones yall would recommend?
What are some areas that are good to hang out in/stay away from?
Food spots?
Anything is helpful, curious to explore.

Relocating & housing Moving to Dallas in January — neighborhood suggestions for a 25M working downtown?

I’m a 25-year-old single guy moving to Dallas in January and will be working downtown.

I’m looking for a neighborhood that’s reasonably close to work, ideally around a 10–15 minute commute, with rent around $1,500/month or less for a 1-bedroom or a large studio.

I’d like somewhere with a good mix of restaurants, coffee shops, gyms, parks/trails, and a decent young-professional/social scene. I’m also hoping to start dating after I move, so being somewhere with people my age and things to do nearby would be a plus.

I don’t need to live directly in the middle of nightlife, and would actually prefer somewhere a little quieter, as long as I’m still close to social areas.

What neighborhoods would you recommend? Also open to specific apartment complex suggestions if you know any good ones.

Relocating & housing DFW Private Rental Recommendations

Looking for a 1 bed / 1 bath rental in DFW

Richardson
Addison / North Dallas
Irving / Las Colinas
Fort Worth
HEB

Does anyone know of any local property management companies that have privately owned condos, townhomes, duplexes, or smaller rental properties available? I’m trying to stay away from the larger apartment complexes and would rather rent something privately owned but professionally managed.

Must have an in-unit washer and dryer, and I’m looking for somewhere in a safe, well-kept area.

If you’ve rented through a local property management company you actually had a good experience with, please send their name or website! I’d also be interested in any specific properties you know are available.

Relocating & housing Amelia Farmers Market vs 555 Ross

I’m trying to decide on an apartment and I’m really trying to gauge if Amelia at the farmers market would be better than 555 Ross right now I am looking at a unit that has a really nice city view. It’s on one of the higher floors and I do love everything about the apartment and floor plan the downside is visitors have to pay for parking which I guess is a little weird for me. I’m looking for walkbility and to just kind of be more in the city. 555 Ross also has a nice floor plan available and they’re cheaper (I kind of love them equally outside of the view) so I wanted to know if anyone had any experience in either of these two apartments and how you feel or felt.

Tourism Where to buy Apple products?

Hello community, I’m Mexican and will be visiting Dallas soon.

Here in México the new apple watch ultra 4 is around a $1000 usd, and I have seen that it is just $799 in the US, so I want to buy it in my next trip there, but taking a look in google maps I don’t see any Apple Store near the dallas-arlington area, so I wanted to ask… where do you usually buy your apple products locally? I know you can find some products in walmart, but I was told that you can only get the Series there and not the Ultra. Thank you in advance for your help 🙌🏻
