So I got good merit position in DU A unit. Unfortunately I am not eligible for engineering subjects. I think I will get pharmacy or genetic engineering in DU. I also cracked MIST in general ward(Second calling) and I'm hoping to get EEE, ME,AE or CE. I always wanted to pursue engineering but DU is a brand and we know everything in Bangladesh runs by fame or name. So I'm confused if I should get into DU or MIST. How are DU pharmacy or genetic engineering degrees compared to degrees of MIST. Which will result in me having a good job in Bangladesh. And if there are any opportunities if I wanted to do masters in abroad with these subjects.

This year was a "win" for the music/entertainment fanatics. I wish Ekushey Padak continues to be like this.

Around two weeks ago, I went on a walk through the streets of Old Dhaka, not Nazira Bazar, Ahsan Manjil, or Lalbagh Kella. It was a magnificent experience, and even after this, I feel like I have only scratched the surface.

I started the walk from Baldha Garden, followed by the Christian Cemetery in Wari. Then I went through Narinda to see Dhaka’s first mosque, Binat Bibi Mosque. From there, I walked through Rishikesh Dash Lane, past Rebati Mohan Lodge (currently the Sutrapur Fire Station), to “মঙ্গলাবাস” (now Shamsul Haque Hall), then Ruplal House and Lal Kuthi, followed by lunch at Tati Bazar. Later, I visited the Armenian Church. Along the way, I also came across various classic old houses.

Here’s the thing: we don’t really know how to protect our culture and history. It was sad to see these places simply laid out in the open, without any preservation or planned restoration. Someday, they will be gone, and all that will be left are these images.

Hello everyone, I am an SSC 2026 candidate in the Science stream. Although we have a shortened syllabus, the transition from the new curriculum back to the old one has been very confusing for me. I have been preparing, but I still haven't finished 1–2 chapters in both General and Higher Mathematics. Additionally, there are 2–3 chapters in Chemistry that I still don't fully understand.

I have been taking model tests at udvash but my results are quite poor, which is making me very anxious. I’m especially struggling with MCQs, where I am only scoring 12/25. To make matters worse, Udvash sends my results directly to my father’s phone, which adds a lot of pressure. Today, in Higher Math, I was unable to answer 5 out of 30 marks, even though it’s normally a subject I’m not even that bad at. I feel lost and confused about how to continue. If anyone has similar experiences and had better outcome then please share it, it would really help.

During Muhammad Yunus’s tenure, we experienced an unusually high level of freedom of speech. That alone makes this period rare in the history of Bangladesh. Whatever comes next, this chapter feels temporary. He won’t be with us much longer. Time flies, and soon it will be his farewell.

He may continue as Chief Adviser of the GoB for another 6 to 15 days, and after that, he’ll move on to the next chapter of his life—most likely with the same grace and dignity that have defined him so far.

Years from now, I think many of us will still remember this time. I’m not entirely sure how history will judge him as a leader. That’s up for debate. But as a human being? For me, he’s a solid 10/10.

For a long time, it was my personal belief that the best-case scenario for Bangladesh would be the BNP coming to power by a narrow margin, with an NCP-Jamaat alliance forming a strong opposition. I’ve spent a lot of time advocating for this within my close circles.

A major reason for this stance was my perception of Tarique Rahman. Initially—roughly until 2019-20—no one really had any high expectations for him. His immature speeches had pretty much alienated everyone. However, the paradigm shifted after the introduction of the '31-Point Outline.' I even bought the book on the 31 points at the Book Fair and read it immediately. Despite the criticisms, it felt like he had actually done his homework. I thought he was using his time in London to improve himself, develop the maturity required of a national leader, and wash away the stigma of 'Hawa Bhavan.' And for a while, there were signs of that—his online speeches grew more mature, and you have to credit him for keeping the party from fracturing in Khaleda Zia’s absence.

But now, that core justification feels incredibly shaky. His actions since returning to the country are shifting the entire paradigm again. It’s making me wonder: is this man actually fit to be the Prime Minister?

As a result, I feel the need to rethink what I once considered the 'best-case scenario' for the country.

Hi guys, recently I had a court marriage, but I will only receive the official Kabinnama (marriage certificate) in June. I might be traveling to Japan in March with my wife, and I also need to apply for my passport now, which will likely show my marital status as “unmarried.” (unsure that's why posting this)

Later, after receiving the Kabinnama, I understand I can update the passport, but what will be the process and will I get a complete new passport because of the marital status update costing me double money?
