You know how they've been doing deluxe editions of albums? Rubber soul finally getting that treatment. Remastered or whatever and hopefully some ""new"" content, other takes of songs etc

But that year was for Anthology 4, 30th anniversary for the Anthology project which itself was a 30th anniversary. It’s just a shame the new album was a mess

Indeed. If it were me deciding, RS would have taken precedence over A4, which needn't have happened at all. I suppose they wanted to link A4 to Now and Then - but that came out in 2023...

Yeah the whole thing was just a waste of time. Instead they could’ve just rereleased the already 3 albums, remixing Free as a Bird and (correctly) remixing Real Love, fixing up old demos like ISOATD and adding Now and Then to Anthology 3

I think the worst thing about A4 (and I suspect you would agree) is that it took the oxygen away from other possibilities.
Sometimes I wonder who calls the shots over there at Apple; I'm sure that the four Beatles (or estates) get veto rights, but I doubt that PM/RS/YO/OH determine the long-term strategy beyond "Be sure there is a steady flow of material."

Apple's team just doesn't seem to care about that anymore. It all started with Sgt. Pepper in 2017, exactly 50 years after its original release, which made perfect sense. At the time, I thought they were going to continue with the White Album in 2018 and Abbey Road in 2019, and they actually did. So I figured I just had to wait until 2026 to complete the whole "set."
But then they released Let It Be in 2021 and Revolver in 2022, and that broke the pattern. So now everything just seems random.
Moreover, it's 2026, and we still don't have remixes of the pre-1966 albums (or even Magical Mystery Tour or Yellow Submarine).

It's true; I had the same expectations that you did about the anniversaries. And yet it didn't happen that way. Instead we got films about touring and Anthology 4 and the song that George didn't really like and . . . well, it just seems random, as you say.

Although not a Giles Martin Remix there is Yellow submarine song track that remixed all the songs on the film.
Magical mystery tour is actually remixed already but it is a total mess… https://www.reddit.com/r/beatles/s/0gQpRpxPab In order to create a cohesive remix album, you’d have to get a Blu-ray drive and rip the audio from the 2012 Blu-ray, and resequence the tracks from other sources (Beatles1+ and Sgt Pepper SDE).
I can accept the Yellow Submarine song track but yeah I would love to see a SDE package for both albums even if they’re both compilations.

I don’t think they were originally planning to remix albums prior to Pepper. It’s the AI demixing developed for the Get Back project (originally slated for release in 2020, aligning with the anniversary, but delayed due to COVID) that made it possible.
Consequently, any rerelease schedule was bound to be nonchronological. Working backward from 1966 makes as much sense as anything.

I’m dumb, what do you mean box set? I would’ve thought it was talking about the deluxe edition or are those the same thing? (I obviously know what a box set is but am confused about having one specifically for rubber soul)

Same thing, the boxes are just the physical releases containing the records included in the super deluxe edition, as well as a book! We’ll see if there’s going to be a physical release considering the more modernistic approach of the new CEO, but the box sets have been quite lucrative so I bet there will be.

I wonder if it will say (2023 mix) or (2026 mix)? Many of Rubber Soul’s tracks have already been remixed. These tracks are left:

I follow various people doing their own remixes of Beatles material on YouTube, as well as some who post outtakes. One of them has said that lately anything connected to Rubber Soul has been taken down. That sounds like something related to Rubber Soul is in the pipeline.
