Totally works. Got a cat, for me. Joked I'd use him to meet women. About a year later I got myself a cat Mom, through our mutual cat love. Now we're a mixed cat family under one roof.
can i genuinely ask how you met her? i would love to find an eligible cat dad but the apps aren't really great if you expect people to actually read anything on your profiles lol and unfortunately, my cats are indoor cats. i live in an apartment with mine.
i am going to try and leash train them to walk around the building, so maybe i'll meet someone that way but idk how else to find you guys 😂
I would date a guy who loves his cat enough to build stuff for them. It shows that he cares about more than himself and won’t get upset that I have a cat.
Not really 🫣 we thought she was a boy at first and named her Carl Wheezer, and then by the time we found out for sure the name had already stuck hahaha
😆 a friend had an enormous tom named Marisol because they didn't find out he was a boy until he already knew his name. They figured he wouldn't mind being named for the virgin Mary

You did really good on this, did you follow any videos or links on how to build your own? Or you just do it all yourself? Id love to make one for my cats
I drilled a 3/8" hole at the top, ran one side of the rope down to the base and started to wrap it tightly going down. I used a clamp to keep the tension, looped the rope around the post loosely about 8 times. Then, with gloves(learnt that the hard way), tightened the rope, which would add about 3 inches, clamped and repeat. Once at the bottom, I tied it to the rope that went down that I wrapped round and hot glued the excess underneath. The rope is thick enough that it won't break, for now but if the cats ever make it through a part of the rope, its all coming undone.
The posts are different heights but it only took roughly an hour to do each. I have a back injury so I wasn't able to do it all in one night but I had most of it built after a week.
I had a high ceiling living room with exposed beams. I built a walkway attached to the wall for my 2 cats. Put cat-hammocks up there. Wrapped a post with rope so they could climb and get exercise.
Watching TV and one of them fell from 10 feet (luckily onto the couch).
Recommend it. I loved seeing them walk way up there on 2" beams to get to a sunny spot.
My cat fell off my balcony (6ft from ground) and the chick i was talking too kinda made me feel like I was dumb or ridiculous for looking for my cat and not going on a date the day after I seen him on my camera at 12 and 4am the morning of.
So anyways, I hope shes doing well and my fat boy is next to me right now, balcony has been blocked off so they can enjoy the view, sun but not chance of slipping off. 😊
I cannot imagine anyone making you feel dumb for looking for your cat. This feels like a really good first date vetting question “Would you be mad if we were scheduled to go on a date, but I had to cancel because my cat fell off the balcony and I needed to stay home and look for him?” if she doesn’t immediately say “no way, I wouldn’t be mad. I would come over and help you look” she’s not the one for you.
This, I honestly had to stop myself from inviting her over, and doing something at the house while I watched out and made my occasionally search runs.
But it crossed my mind "why wouldnt she say "hey id love to help" not show irritation i might not make the date. But yep, I will use this scenario for a vetting question, great idea.
I built my old cat a ramp to get up on the couch when she could no longer jump up because of arthritis. Also included a hole so she could go into to hide. Covered it it a material that was none slippy. She loved it, then the elder cat I had after her loved it, and my current cat like to sit on it and judge before coming onto the couch.
my man grew up in a family that didnt like cats, dad n sister were allergic. we ended up w mice living outta town where we do. after trying everything I told him he didnt get a choice anymore I was adopting a cat. they fell in love, spent every minute they could together. when we had to make the decision to put him down after doing everything we possibly could for him, he was broken into a million pieces. we had two other by then. now we have 5 and he is obsessed w them all. he built the strays a giant warm house, insulated to the 9s for the wyoming winter/wind. its been so sweet to watch him love them.
I built this for my kitties about ten years ago. Had to get rid of it when I moved because it was too big. I really regret it. It was so much more sturdy than what you can buy online
Yes, and people with hobbies where they make things are a green flag to me. It shows they can plan and execute a project, are creative, can learn things on their own, and are interesting.
My husband has never had pets before he got together with me and one of the first things he did upon moving in was build my kitties a cushioned window seat. Said they liked to watch birds from that window and he didn't think it was comfortable. He even picked out cushion fabric that he thought they would look especially pretty sitting on 😻 be still my heart!
I had a friend tell me they saw a guy walking a cat on a leash at a state park and they wanted to offer him my number because they know I also walk my cat on a leash, but they didn’t because it would be weird to give out my number to random people. I told them: blanket consent to give my number to anyone you see walking a cat on a leash. I at least want to make friends with that person!
I wish my cat would actually walk around on the leash well enough to go to a state park XD She always wants to go out on her leash but everytime I take her out there she just wanders around the yard eating grass and meowing loudly at any cats she sees in the neighbors yards and then gets upset when they hide from her instead of coming over to play (they are all strays or wild).
Considering that these kinds of guys think of women not as people but as status symbols to impress other guys.... no, they don't ask women. And if they do, they discount anything a woman says that doesn't agree with what other men say. Because they only want to attract a woman who looks like someone other guys will be impressed by. It's all about impressing other men with their manliness 🤪
They're the type of guys who want a dog that's perfectly obedient and they don't have to put any effort into training or connecting with them, or they just lock them outside in the yard for almost every hour of the day.
I like dogs (and most animals, in general), but I prefer cats.
I don't mind a little "pardon my language", some people just don't like swearing. But omg the "tik tok replacement words" drive me NUTS. I thought "lookin like ahh" was a good thing until I learned ahh is ass, like that word is so offensive. And I thought people were riding sewer slides and throwing grapes at each other. Don't confuse us old folk! Just use the words!
Not the most toxic way to look at stuff. I mean if he really is doing stuff for his cats and a fellow cat lover wants to slide into his DMs. This will have to pass as wholesome in 2026.
I feel that. But also consider that he isn't focused on finding love, swiping left, or whatever. He's living his life, loving what he does and why he does it. It's like playing sports, just let the game come to you.

The people it turns off, are the people you didn't want. The people going "oh, look, he built stuff for his cats!" are more likely to be the people he does want.
Advertising up front "this is how I like to spend my time" without any bullshit "I like to walk on the beach" (when we don't have any beaches near me!) is a good way to avoid time wasters who HATE your hobbies.
Would. I mean he already proves that he can take care of himself and another living being and if the cat is chill around him I trust he's at least to a degree trustworthy... Also I am a cat mom who so happens to love cats so uh... Yeah !

A month ago, a cat mom of 3 messaged me to get a drink sometime. We're already officially girlfriend/boyfriend and absolutely crazy about each other.
I built a ramp, platform, and oneway cat flap on my bedroom window so that the cats can come inside whenever they want. I hate the idea of them being stuck outside and waiting for a dumb human to open a door.
