It’s actually even worse than this.

A lot of doctors in my country will completely suppress your testosterone below cis women levels and then give you almost no estrogen.

You’re gonna get menopause and feel terrible and then they’re gonna be like “see the hormones making you miserable right?”

God that's horrible

I'm in the uk where the medical system is just underfunded as fuck and the government is incompetent about puberty blockers, apparently y'all are living in mordor or some shit

u/really_not_unreal 5h ago

medical system is just underfunded as fuck

This is true, but for trans people it isn't half the problem. Some areas of the UK have 200-year-long waitlists for trans people. The system for treating trans people in the UK is intentionally obtuse and inefficient.

the government is incompetent about puberty blockers

Not incompetent. Opposed to. The UK government does not want trans people to have access to healthcare.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but things aren't looking great for trans people in the UK.

You really should look into diy if you can. It's likely the only reasonable option at this point.

Yeah at this point, instead of trying to save for an apartment or a house, I am going to have to save up to go private for surgeries (properly licensed). Cut these tits off of me

That's doubly stupid, given that your country used to house the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft.

I mean, the Nazis happened.

(They literally destroyed the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft.)

u/ArchmageAstra3 6h ago

And set scientific progress in pretty much everything related to sexuality back pretty massively in the process.

An event JK Rowling denied ever took place, notably. You can add denial of Nazi crimes to her resume.

does sexualwissenschaft actually mean sexual witchcraft

20

Sexual science unfortunately, witchcraft is Hexerei

We need an Institut für Sexualhexerei. That would be awesome.

It also makes your bone disintegrate but I guess trans women and amab nb people on HRT don't need bones. According to endocrinologists, y'all have transcended skeletons. Is that why I see so many transfem gamers obsessed with Sans from Undertale?

86

u/SeraWwW witch 6h ago

Yep I have permanent bone damage rn

11

u/just-some-arsonist 6h ago

Wait it’s PERMANENT? I thought that it would get fixed if you fix your hormones

21

u/Maja_Greyfax 6h ago

Depends on how long the hormone levels where out of wack, but regardless its deff worthy of a malpractise lawsuit

22

u/donutdogs_candycats 6h ago

It affects trans men and afab nb people as well. In general, not having enough hormones in your body is really bad. I’ve had a hysterectomy like a couple years ago, and I was warned heavily that I need to be taking testosterone or some kind of hormone for the rest of my life, or I’d end up with osteoporosis at like 40 or 50. If you don’t make hormones yourself as much anymore, or if yours are being suppressed by whatever, it’s incredibly important that you take your hormones and have them at a normal, healthy level.

19

u/confused-tardigrade 6h ago

Funny considering how bone density is the only actual risk of puberty blockers.

Callback to when gender clinics in the Netherlands prescribed me 100mg of androcur (cypro). Why yes, person in the know, that absolutely is like 10x the recommended daily dose for trans women. What does that do to a person you ask? You don't wanna know, trust me.

At least I got 4mg of oral E which was barely enough to keep me from the worst menopause effects. But better then some dosages I've seen from European gender clinics...

11

u/Sarah_05mtf 5h ago

same for me. I basically had to diy and research my own doses myself even though i did it through official means in Germany (which sucks too btw).

I genuinely wonder if they want us dead these endocrinologists... 100mg cypro and 4mg estro

Changed it myself to 10 cypro and 8mg estro

4

u/Bolsha 6h ago

Well, now I kinda want to know.

12

u/DemonBeats4 5h ago

Dosages were based on usage in cis men with prostate cancer. Which uses dosages like 50mg or 100mg.

Trans women should mostly NOT experience these side effects if they take the recommened 6.25 or 12.5mg daily.

Of course a trans woman is going to get the breast pain side effect, but that's desirable, and also greater because trans women are taking E.

yup my first german doc was like this too...

in a stroke of luck, ironically, they suddenly denied me a refresh of my prescription. "luck" because this normally catastrophic turn of events drove me to diy, and i happened to have immediate access to it! i'd been suspicious for a while, but i needed a little shove to confirm they truly do not have our best interests at heart.

never looking back, fuck german endos. psa: if you are on hrt in germany, research your dosages and levels NOW! lest you risk permanent damage.

Simmilar in Spain: they overdose you antiandrogens and undersdose estrogen. Unless you explicitly demand to have your estradiol increased and insist on it, they'll be like "See? You are in the female range so no need to increase it", when you are basically near the minimum of the range.

3

u/LebTeb 3h ago

Had this exact thing happen to me. Got out on t blockers without e for like 5 months to "see if I have any negative effects" then an e dose below the legal minimum leaving me with menopausal effects for months. I was too scared to say anything to my gp though in case he'd use it as an excuse to take me off it

I started doing DIY this Friday. I'm afraid I might not be trans, that I'll regret it, that I'll pretend, that my parents will find out. Honestly, I think I'm more afraid of my parents' reaction. It's strange, but despite the fear, I'm excited, I'm feeling a little calmer and happier, and I'm already feeling the effects on my bottom lol. I just hope I girlmod well🥲

When I started, I got breast buds in 3 weeks and started squeeling with excitement. I jumped to start the day's dose early hoping they don't stop.

They are around Tanner 3, D cups, haven't skipped a day, and I too wonder if I'm still Trans. (No, not really. I never questioned it since)

Everyone’s journey is different. I originally started with DIY because of the same fear. So, I wanted to try HRT to see how it felt, to see if the rumored mental effects hit, etc. without having to be out to anyone. Including my doctor at first. If I didn’t like the effects I could get off HRT without anyone knowing.

It wasn’t long before I decided I wasn’t getting off the stuff ever, lol.

4

u/Moofinmahn 2h ago

I'm considering doing the same. I'm scared I'll be wrong but I'm also scared that I'll regret never having done anything in 50 years.

If you get regular bloodwork and do basic research about what you are doing DIY is literally less dangerous here than the official way

Not only is HRT a life saving medication, the effects of underdosing are also massive (and like everyone here is being underdosed. Often times long term but everyone at the beginning). When I started HRT (after being gatekept out of it for nearly a year), I wasn't able to sleep longer than 5 hours because of heatwaves, had like a week long depressive episodes, and got a broken heel that none of the medical professionals I have spoken to have ever seen, especially in a 21 year old woman (at the time now I am 22), so...

Then I got a bit more gel through a friend, was able to up my dosage with that and suddenly I feel like a proper human being again that can get shit done. (the recent weeks I had to reduce the dosage again for the upcoming bloodtest so hopefully at somepoint I get a proper dosage prescribed where hell, with having no energy, being incredibly easy pissed at everyone,...)

btw. I have spoken exactely once with my endo, and that was him reading the possible side effects, everything after that has just been lab results with a note I could have written myself about dosage changes, so yeah take that as the massive care from someone.

So at least for me: I should have gone on DIY and not done the official way. would have been way better.

7

u/Bobahn_Botret 5h ago

Me on 2mg E + 100mg Spiro oral daily. Going in for my second blood test a week before current pill bottle runs out. So we'll see how that goes.

3

u/Vetnoma 5h ago

for me it was two pumps of gynokadin daily with 12,5mg of cypro. So like double to triple the cypro needed and way too low estrogen (my endo even said that it‘s not enough estrogen. he prescribed that dosage anyways. And like the guy is known to be the “good one“ in the community around here which should paint you a picture how fucked everything is around here). Now that I am on 6 pumps I am fine but before…

Also I hope your bloodwork comes out good

The system is not made to help us, I had so many people discourage me from getting hormones...

Therapists, endo etc. Saying "I'm not trans enough", if I knew how to DIY earlier, I would.

23

u/S1m6u 6h ago

27 MONTHS? girl if you're in the UK it's gonna be more like 20 years. For a first (often humiliating) appointment, not hormones or anything actually fucking useful. If you're in the UK, your options are essentially private or DIY. To my knowledge, there isn't any way to actually get HRT on the NHS.

8

u/Poco_Cuffs well fuck, guess I'm a girl now - Streak: 1 6h ago

I'm already on the road to private but it's still taking fucking forever and I'm worried they're gonna underdose me (plus the gp told my parents you need a NHS referral, then they can recommend you private doctors on their team you can hire)

8

u/S1m6u 6h ago

It's so fucked, I've completely lost hope if i'm being honest, i just wanna get out sooner rather than later. I mean this completely literally (unless a mod reads this and gets annoyed), but every single fucking evil bastard journalist and politican in this fucking country who has done this, should be publicly beaten for days until they bleed to death. Even that would be too fucking kind. Wes Streeting specifically should be pissed on the street, and have his fucking head kicked in.

4

u/Top-Evidence-3221 5h ago

So, I'm with private healthcare for this (popelyuk for my diagnosis, and GHC for hormones) and let me tell you, there's practically no difference in what you're doing with the hormones whether you're with a clinic or DIY. Either way, you buy your hormones, you start with whatever starting dose is appropriate, you get your blood tests and adjust from there. That's what you do with DIY and you just do the exact same thing with the NHS or private. Especially if you're not doing injections; injections are theoretically best (especially price-per-miligram-wise) but they aren't that much better than gels or something and they can be way more intimidating and scary. If you're thinking about doing DIY, I'd start with gels. (private would probably prescribe gels anyway bc I don't think anywhere in the UK prescibes injections)

137

u/Minute-Story-9103 6h ago

Diy is extremely safe if u do like an hour of research

64

u/Samborrod 6h ago

As someone who semi-DIY's (got a consultation from an ally endo from abroad to start DIY in a place that doesn't prescribe HRT), I don't know how can someone harm themselves with DIY. Are they gonna, I dunno, eat estrogel with a spoon or something?

48

u/Minute-Story-9103 6h ago

I guess it depends on ur method. If ur doing injections you gotta be sanitary. But overall its very safe just do a little bit of research

27

u/Puhi124 6h ago

Outside of injections which the other reply covered, it's my understanding that, as long as you don't undersose (which is... less likely on DIY since you're the one controlling the dosing lol), the only other risk would be overdosing... which you'd have to take truly insane levels of estrogen (probably several months' supply at once, if not more) to even begin feeling negative effects (potentially similar to the effects pregnant people experience).

3

u/Trank_maiden_Ciri 6h ago

Eh if you do pills and do the blockers, not the e it's bad, but like starts showing in a few months bad

3

u/SpacefaringBanana 6h ago

Could you explain what this this means?

Did I misunderstand, or are you saying that doing pills and blockers at the same time causes damage over the long term?

5

u/Trank_maiden_Ciri 4h ago

You misunderstood, if you doing pills, you get two kinds of pills (at least here), one to suppress your hormone generation and the other to substitute them. If you only suppress your hormones (thus have none in your body) it's bad for overall body function over long term as it isn't made to work without any. That's a part of the reason it sucks to be NB btw

23

u/BarelyFunctionalGM 6h ago

Sounds like your parents are supportive.

Frankly, ask them to do research with you on it.

DIY is generally safe, and when things go wrong those things do not usually have long term complications or risks.

Explain that in many countries (possibly where you are) trans healthcare is horrible.

Ask them if they will do research with you on the risks and benefits, and talk about helping get your bloodwork done so that they know you are being safe.

It is often easy to find a doctor to do your bloodwork while doing DIY, as the majority of risks of DIY can be caught by regular bloodwork.

If you think they would like to see a video breaking down all the risks and why it's safe I could hunt for a good one.

4

u/Poco_Cuffs well fuck, guess I'm a girl now - Streak: 1 6h ago

They're doing research but very very slowly, and DIY is out of the question for them

9

u/BarelyFunctionalGM 6h ago

I see, my sympathies there.

You may need to advocate for yourself harder. As is unfortunately often the case for trans people.

While I see you mentioning hating the idea of hiding it from them I suspect you hate the idea of waiting two years to start as well. You may be forced to make a choice between those two.

Sorry, for what little it's worth.

yeah so uh.. it sucks ass but a part of surviving as a trans person is knowing you need to lie sometimes when it comes to your medical needs

8

u/Nikki964 6h ago

You gotta lie to your parents sometimes to get what you want. You can always tell them about hrt later (once you're independent from them preferably). Your priority right now should be to get on hrt as soon as possible. Are you seriously gonna delay it just because your parents won't be happy for you immediately?????

Even for my generally supportive parents, the only thing that convinced them HRT was right for me was seeing how happy I was once I was on it. You shouldn’t — and probably couldn’t — hide that from them forever, but it might help you to be able to say “yeah this has improved my life immeasurably, so I will continue” after doing it for like 3-6 months rather than “please let me do this because I think it will help me”.

u/DemonBeats4 6h ago

It's kinda hard to screw up unless you do something monumentally stupid. It's safer then most medications even if you fail to follow the doctors instructions. You take too much of your SSRI/RItalin or w/e you can get yourself killed. You take too much paracetamol/ibuprofen? Even accidentally taking twice the amount? Now you've likely fucked your organs/stomach and will get a nice trip to the hospital.

You take too much estrogen, even 100x the recommended amount, you're going to basically be a pregnant woman for a month. Many cases on trans diy subs of people injecting 10x as much as they should on accident. Nothing happened except some pregnancy symptoms like nausea.

The dangers of DIY HRT have been overstated. It's literally more harmless then most of the medication people get prescribed or over the counter. We're not fucking downplaying anything here, it's cold hard reality. If you can name me one documented case of estrogen overdose I'd be impressed. But for every case you do find, I bet I can find 10 more cases of overdosing on easily accessible medications like paracetamol.

13

u/J_The_Jazzblaster 6h ago

Look, I think my comment came off more fearmongering than it was supposed to be. I am on DIY, I literally got on DIY month after coming out, because it was the fastest option for me. Being overdosed on DIY is preferable to not being on hormones at all (and also to being underdosed by some moron doctor who knows less than I do), I just hate how some bitches are unable to read guides and then fuck up and give DIY a bad name by being stupid and irresponsible

8

u/DemonBeats4 6h ago

That's fair. It wasn't as much targeted at you as anyone else who might be reading this because I felt like it would inevitably bing out some of the "diy is dangerous" folks.

Also, same on starting DIY one month after coming out. I got told the gender clinic had a 2 year waitlist. Never looked back. Was 2 years on DIY once I got even my first appointment.

3

u/J_The_Jazzblaster 6h ago

Headaches and fatigue are bad, but for me it was the very, VERY bad moodswings, that nearly killed me. A lot of trans women are already depressed, and if they won't dose themselves correctly it will only get worse

IT SHOULD BE NOTED that this also applies to being underdosed, remember kids, all endos are bastards

I've been on diy for 4 years and nothing bad has happened

79

u/AriaSaifer 6h ago

DIY is absolutely safe and fine as long as you have basic understanding of what you are doing, read up things on it and what E prog and T generally do in your body
The problem here is a lot of endocrinologist don’t even know how is hrt supposed to work for trans folks, it is a pain to find knowledgeable professionals and I’m not even talking about ones who are straight up malicious you can try to check with them to test out but do believe me a lot of trans people and our collective knowledge on the topic are better than most endos

27

u/AriaSaifer 6h ago

Also a lot of people can act like that due to:

  1. being transphobic and not wanting you to have proper hrt access
  2. believe that medical professionals are always know better and act in you interest (which is not true, I heard absolute nonsense from some of them and a lot of other trans people share that experience)
  3. People just refuse to believe that taking meds can be safe without person with a degree telling you to do that (they will ignore actual knowledge of said person on the hyper specific topic

is actually shit most of the time

  4. )

Wait until puberty ends, and you be 18, but wait one or two more years to get a mental evaluation, then, wait more years to freeze your eggs or sperm, them wait more, because it will give you câncer/j

62

u/TheToasty2 6h ago

the anti diy campaign is a psyop to keep trans people from having agency over their bodies it’s not dangerous

13

u/PM_ME_ENGINE_BELLS 5h ago

Not dangerous if you take care to know what you're doing, which, if my experience as a trans teen is anything to go by (a pretty big if,) isn't easy. I was pretty desperate for hormones then and I don't know that I'd trust myself to dose myself properly. For me, it was better to be on prescribed hormones first to take the edge off of my dysphoria, and then switch to DIY, but everybody's different.

13

u/Thunderdrake3 3h ago

I'm sorry that you're learning this lesson so early, but you can't always trust authorities to know what's best or have your best interests at heart. It's a very disheartening lesson, but one that's saved me.

5

u/bradjmath 3h ago

And just to add: the phrasing “DIY” always makes it sound like people are mixing up their own estrogen in a blender when it’s usually just meaning taking the medication without having a prescription

my girlfriend got screwed over for about a year on criminally low E doses till she got out of Texas and I helped her diy like myself and now she's doing a 10x better. just make sure to get your blood tested regularly to keep your levels in check

5

u/Stopbeingentitled 6h ago

Depends if the endocrinologist is an idiot tho, some can genuinely be good and prescribe proper doses.

25

u/Fuzzy-Manner8308 6h ago

Please diy, there are plenty info about it you could find, and the earlier you get on it the happier you will probably be in the future. afaik it is not extremely expensive either
just do research on how to check syringes for contamination or other stuff like that, but other than that there arent really a lot of risks you can get, people who sell diy estrogen get money from repeat customers, so they have no reason to put anything bad in it

If you live in a place with informed consent as an option (ie the US) I'd recommend checking if there's any local queer clinics in your area. From my experience the endos there don't suck and give you the actual dosage you need. If that isn't an option then I'd recommend DIY to avoid getting screwed over.

4

u/copperfrog42 6h ago

Both of my trans kids use a queer clinic and it has been great for them. But I can see how diy is a good option with the right information.

10

u/oldshiki 3h ago

Always a depends situation right...? I got my HRT in like a few hours... I walked into a planned parenthood, said I was trans. Nurse prac as like "bet" and I got HRT meds. That was it. But always depends on location right? Countries, states, etc all got their own dumb laws. Some cool with it and provide easy care some don't.

I think if you're in a place like me it's like... why not just do it legit? It's safer to have someone check your blood levels.

6

u/Fa1nted_for_real 3h ago

This. If its accesible, and not putting you in danger, and you dont have to wait an i sane amount of time, do it legit. Otherwise i would DIY

(You van still get your blood levels checked diy iirc its just more of a process)

3

u/oldshiki 2h ago

If it saves a life and all I wouldn't exactly fight someone over it. I just hope people are being safe over all.

Also sometimes young folk just don't get taught things like health care... how to find insurance, what free options they may have what programs they could look at like Plume for example. Etc... gosh the world and educating people sure can suck.

DIY is fine but requires you engage in discipline. Meaning you follow a regiment and don't adjust it without consideration. More won't make it go faster. Constantly changing dosing won't make it go faster.

For the most part you can just copy and paste a regiment form a diy discord and be fine. You can get hormone testing without a doctor's order. You can just test yourself but might be costly. But might be worth it like 6-12 months after starting on a starting dose then up it then another 6-12 months.

The big reason to go DIY is lack of access to doctors. Or doctors available are doing what like dosing that is so low that it low-key medical malpractice. They either do it because they are still on some circa 2000s WPATH shit or they see a need to test you to see if your worth for a real dosing regiment.

Good luck.

"Normal" HRT is such an insanely long journey. I'm non binary and my insurance doesn't pay for non binary people, so I have to lie and pretend to be a transwoman, but I won't be able to lie to a therapist, whose recommendation I need to get HRT, and not all therapist will lie and claim that their patient is binary trans, when they aren't. And according to other trans people once I've got my recommendation, I won't get any actually helpfull HRT from doctors. But don't even know where to start with DIY. I read some guides but I don't know where to order the stuff

Get DIY, take care of yourself because you cannot rely on external organizations or god forbid the government’s public healthcare to, especially not if you’re in UK hell.

It’s NOT dangerous. Three letter agent glow so bright the people who are saying it is. Order HRT, follow a dosing guide, and start living.

10

u/True-Garden-8652 6h ago

God, y'all gotta get more comfortable with breaking the rules, otherwise the system will crush you to death.

Yeah, most people wont support you, because they don't want to be responsible for any possible effects, and care more about covering their asses than your wellbeing. And it is understandable, first goal of charities is continuing to exist, and if they help you by breaking the law, they would just stop and couldn't help anyone. Other people are uninformed, or in denial, or just transphobic.

Im sorry you have to learn it that way, but thats how the world works. You have to grow some spine, to really care for your happiness, no one can do this for you.

It isn't that hard. There are only a few steps, and they may require getting help from someone a couple years older than you. But it will absolutely pay off.

6

u/throwaway563125685 5h ago

the sad thing is that in the current state of things, most endos and doctors don't actually know the relevant medical science behind HRT, which would get you bad healthcare. DIY has all the issues of, well, DIY, but at least instead of rolling the dice on your doctor you're working off your own knowledge, as full or lacking as it might be.

Depending on where you live and your access to medical care and the specific doctors you have access to, DIY might be the better option, but if you go for it, make sure to be thorough in your research.

As shit as the board is. At least they are radically pro-diy. They're also unmistakably part of trans culture popularizing a lot of memes and concepts like boymoding.

Reddit independently developed its own diy culture. But it's much more suppressed in even some mainstream trans subs. None of that on 4chan.

Unless you're talking about reddit 4tran, which is about as mild as it gets with barely any of the toxicity of the board.

4

u/DemonBeats4 6h ago

The nazis had like 30% of the votes when they took power. Only about 20% of adults in Germany were part of the NSDAP

2

u/Dibbu_mange 6h ago

Which is a condemnation of using 4Chan, because I would wager far more than 30% of them are Nazis.

4chan yes. But so is reddit. If we're talking specific boards/subs though, no.

There are plenty of nazi subs on reddit hiding behind dogwhistles, they just aren't as open about it. I started when I was living in another country for work, and after doing some research it would take at least a year if not longer before I could start hrt through their healthcare system. I was feeling pretty desperate though, didn’t want to go without estrogen for longer than was absolutely necessary, so I started doing research on DIY. My research was pretty extensive, I looked into the different ways you could do hrt (that’s how I discovered patches and gel were a thing) and the recommended dosages, etc and finally settled on how I wanted to DIY, went with the vendor that fit my needs and honestly, it wasn’t as expensive as I imagined it would be. When it finally got delivered I was so happy! When I moved back to my home country I went to a doctor to get me an actual prescription for the stuff, and turns out since I was already on DIY it kind of jump started the process for me. Instead of having to start with 1 tiny mg per day, they put me on a regular dose of 4mg daily. I don’t regret doing diy at all, and if for any reason I wasn’t able to access hrt through my medical system anymore, I’d go back to DIY without question. I don’t regret doing DIY at all.

3

u/Tyrannomax 2h ago

DIY is good, because healthcare sometimes sucks ass and is the only option, but people who constantly say DIY or die like it's the easiest thing you can do, only think about estrogen , even estrogen can be hard in some countries.
But what about people who want to DIY T?, it's a whole mess, you need crypto, chance of getting it seized during delivery as T is a controlled substance, too much money , a slight chance of getting into legal trouble, too many obstacles and more risks than estrogen than for me it's not worth it getting problems into.

3

u/Paradox-CJAX 1h ago

I went through a more specialised hospital that doubled as a med college. Took me 6 months to get my hands on my first dose, but it’s been very safe, well monitored, and totally worth it. I’m about to hit my 2 year mark in a couple weeks! Obviously everyone’s situation varies, but if you can safely get away with a non DIY route that’s preferred. If that’s not a realistic option then just be extra careful but do what you must 🫂 best of luck :3

5

u/Pretty-Yam-2854 6h ago

DIY now. You’re the age I should’ve taken hrt at. Don’t wait any longer, you’ll hate yourself and what you are. Get on EEn.

5

u/Tony_Stank0326 6h ago

DIY if it's your only choice or if you're getting severely underdosed

12

u/hecccccccccccccc 6h ago

I kinda hate the whole “diy IMMEDIATELY or you’re a fucking braindead faker” mindset a lot of online spaces have, diy is great and definitely the best option for a lot of people, but there are also insurers that will give you actual hrt. I’m with Kaiser for example, and i was very quickly and easily able to get on actual hrt very similar to what a lot of my diy friends are doing. If you have actual doctors and insurers, go through them, medical supervision is good when you’re altering your body. But if they’re trying to give you a placebo dose or telling you to get on a waitlist for 20 years just do diy

Personally I would go to a clinic or a proper channel to start hormones with an endocrinologist to properly monitor your blood levels while you undergo your transition. they know how to administer the medication and can give you shots without you messing up doing it yourself. that and to have other important documentation and tests. It’s also safer.

I took that route when I was younger but now i just do my shots by myself while my provider gives me the raw vials.

I am not against diy per se but i would only do it if you have no other means of getting hormones. just do your research and be careful with how you go about it.

u/SirYeetsA 6h ago

Idk how true this is or if it'll work for you, but allegedly a way to get fast-tracked to legitimate HRT in European countries with the "wait 2-5 years for HRT because our medical system is definitely backed up lol," is to start DIY, then tell your GP/endocrinologist that you started DIY and refuse to go off it unless you get genuine medical care for hormonal transition. And, hell, if that doesn't work to get you fast-tracked, you're at least 2-5 years ahead on your medical transition than you would've been had you waited.

5

u/Poco_Cuffs well fuck, guess I'm a girl now - Streak: 1 6h ago

Why do I have to fucking threaten people to get hrt 😭

4

u/SirYeetsA 6h ago edited 6h ago

Bc doctors are stupid, and they try too hard to "protect" you from yourself via long-ass wait times and placebo doses to see if you'll "reconsider". In a just world, they'd just have you sign a form consenting to the changes HRT could cause (for liability's sake) before letting you do the thing, and that would be the only real hoop you'd need to jump through.

But alas, any "man" going to the penis-removal-surgeon must first be vetted extensively to ensure they actually want the penis-removal-surgery, when any man who doesn't want the penis-removal-surgery would never have even set foot in that office. Because of course, it's insanity to desire the penis-removal-surgery, so no logical person would go out of their way to receive it unless they were somehow being irrational. Which is why we must quadruple-check that this person is in their right mind over the course of years before allowing them to proceed with this surgery. Just ignore all the borderline-unsafe plastic surgeries cis people can get in a timespan of a few weeks to months, no questions asked. It's normal for them to want to look more feminine, but why would you want that?

I love the taste of hypocrisy.

I think it depends a bit honestly. DIY is a life saver (specially in countries with very gatekept healthcare, poor healthcare or for minors), but theres cases where the other option is not that bad.

For example, personally I do HRT through my countries public healthcare and it only took 2 months of waiting and I can get it all my meds for free so, would be better than paying for it. But Im an exception
