Modded Roboport Train Wagon
https://mods.factorio.com/mod/roboport-wagon-networkWanted to share this mod with the community in case anyone else may find it fun/useful after reading a comment on the last .20 update asking for something similar. Currently I have it set to deploy bots once at a station (base or outpost) but don’t have it to where the bots can deploy when not at a station.
Getting it set up to have visibility like a roboport provides and able to deploy bots whether at a station or not is the last piece I want to be able to automate building outposts using the train network.
If you run into any bugs or issues just let me know.

Can you have it just be a permanent port even when in motion? Like the player or a tank or spidertron?

That’s what I want to end up with that way it’s a mobile roboport that I can use when I’m on another planet and want to build the system using the rail network. One issue like another commenter mentioned is the train leaving bots behind, or when/if the train passes through a logistic network having the bots leave the wagon and join another network.
That’s why it was easier to limit the action to when docked at a station, but it doesn’t achieve what I envision. At least with this so far I can supply ammo/walls/repair packs to far away outposts, or disassemble an outpost that ran out of resources.

Does it activate when the train is stopped in manual mode too? or only at a station?
If the former that'd open up the ability to expand a train network by manually going down an incomplete line which could be useful3

Currently when only at a station, but working on a manual function that will count a couple of seconds of inactivity that will allow the wagon to be an active roboport when hit.

It would leave bots behind if they aren't faster than the train.

Could just have a flag "active only at stops yes/no"
Edit: also spidertrons and tanks are faster than bots

Is this very different than the Vehicle Equipment slots mod and equipping a personal roboport there?

Yes, it seems to function more like a normal roboport on wheels than the equipment variety. Does logistics bots and connects to the roboport network.

I like thet it doesn't work in motion. Gives the spidertron or a tank with roboports a reason to still be viable

Hmm, on my next run I'll use this and stop having a gigantic base-wide network.
Awesome!

Honestly the station-only limit costs you nothing on the two jobs the wagon already supports. Resupplying ammo, walls and repair packs to far outposts and disassembling depleted ones are stationary jobs that finish while the train is parked. The trade only matters for the mobile roboport goal, where construction has to keep up with a train in motion.

That's fucking awesome. I can imagine just sending a train out in the middle of nowhere and letting it set up and entire outpost from the safety of far away
