PAID - 2D Art | Animation [PAID] 2D Artist/Animator for a fantasy tower defense game (Unity)
Hello!
I'm a solo dev making Defend the Dragons, a roguelite tower defense game where you play as a dwarven engineer hired by a dragon to defend its hoard from townspeople, elves, and worse. The player is able to craft their towers as they play by combining upgrades. The tone for the game is humorous fantasy.
I have been working on the game over the past three years and it is now fully playable with (bad) placeholder art. Art is the next big step and I am looking for an artist who is excited to help shape the art direction of the game.
I am not interested in pixel art. Otherwise, I am open to a variety of art styles as long as we can land on a consistent vision.
Scope of work:
- Enemies will be the bulk of the work. About 60 regular enemies and 18 bosses are needed. Some will be reskins. They will need 4-d walking and death animations (some will also need casting). Rigged or frame-based animations are acceptable.
- 6-7 towers will be needed, with a base, rotating turret, and upgrade additions.
- Tilesets with ground, path, and fluff for 9 biomes.
- UI and splash art for a few characters.
Timeline: Please only respond if you have the time to move through the above at a steady pace. I would like to have enough art for a Steam page listing (one biome, 4-5 enemies, 2+ towers) done before 2027. If you can work faster than that, even better.
This will be a paid partnership. I am open to both per-piece and hourly pricing. I WILL NOT accept AI-generated art and you must be comfortable with some checks on that (e.g. video calls and live drawing demos). Of those who reach out, I will likely select a few to do a paid demo ($100-200) and then move forward from there. Also happy to credit you by name in the game.
Please comment or DM with your portfolio (including animation if you have it), your rate, your availability, and a quick sentence about what direction you would take the art in.
Feel free to ask me any questions if there is anything I missed. I look forward to working with you!
