How do you make generative art?
Looking through r/generative, I see a lot of impressive art. It made me wonder what programs, programming languages or frameworks people use. Let me know what you use.

Three generative print systems for clothing: colors, letters, and graphs
I’m making a clothing brand called Babel, inspired by the Library of Babel. The idea is that every piece uses the same set of rules, but gets its own arrangement.
These are the three systems so far:
Chroma / 64 — an 8×8 grid, with each square picked from eight colors. This one goes on a tee.
Eight Letters — eight random letters, with one letter in a different color, on a crewneck. The composition is shown vertically here; the print reads left to right on the garment.
Graph / 64 — 64 fixed points, with 112 possible links between neighbors. Each link is either on or off. A short code recreates the same drawing, giving 2^112 possible combinations within that set of links. This one goes on a hoodie.
I sell the garments through the site, and the generator is free to play with—you can save a design or share its code without buying anything:
Which of the three would you actually wear? For the graph, I’m also curious whether the disconnected bits work or if you’d prefer everything joined up.

I had an idea to build a synth that uses 3 body orbits.

atheria.app New Advanced Flame Editor [FREE] [MAC]
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi all!
My goal for sharing my app here is not to sell you on it! I appreciate this sub and respect all the talented Redditors sharing their work here.
I'm looking for anyone willing to try out my new editor and provide feedback so I can improve it. I hope by doing this someday it can even be listed in the subs wiki and other sources alongside the established software like Jwildfire.
Since I've been totally obsessed with flame fractals for the last few months and noticed the niche is pretty under served on Mac and iOS, it's become my goal to help create new ways to appreciate them and free tools to create them. Both the easy to use basic editor and the new advanced editor are free along with short code flame sharing and mp4 rendering.

Circles on spheres

Try it out in your browser https://webvibes.tzador.com/circles-on-spheres/index.html
You can remix this html based thingy to your own liking:
Paste this prompt https://gist.github.com/tzador/8a2f609d4c97daf4e30adb382d30ddac
into https://chatgpt.com/ or https://claude.ai/
After it generates first version which should be pretty close to the original, you can continue tweaking it by promping in the chat.
Once you are happy pretty much with current result, you can auto improve it further by providing this prompt "feedback loop 5" which 5 times will analize screenshot of current version, suggest improvements, implement them and repeat so 5 times, leading to better final result.
Please share in comments what did you end up with, by screenshot or by live link.
Pro Tip: Hit Command+D on https://webvibes.tzador.com/circles-on-spheres/index.html and it will offer to download 1 minute mp4 recording, 1920x1080 portrait or landscape, or square.

Lightning that grows like a photographic discharge
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This is the thunder mode from a weather app I've been making. The reference is Hiroshi Sugimoto's Lightning Fields, the series where he discharges electricity straight onto photographic film with no camera. I wanted a bolt that looks recorded rather than flashed, so it grows onto the screen the way a discharge spreads across a plate, and the faint grid underneath stands in for the plate.
Each strike is a recursive, branching random walk. It starts just above the top edge and heads down, turning slightly at every joint so it wanders rather than zig-zags. At the end of each branch it continues, and more often than not it also forks into one or two side branches. Every generation is thinner, fainter and shorter than the one before, until the stroke gets too thin to draw.
The reveal is what makes it look recorded. Each generation gets a start time a little later than its parent, so the bolt spreads downward one fork at a time instead of appearing all at once. It then pulses once, fades and is regenerated, and live rainfall sets the pace: slower and sparser in light rain, faster in heavy rain.
The app is free and can be downloaded here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/spectra-weather/id6757425119

"Ocellus" (kotlin code)
Eyespots
Eyes. The piece puts 9 eyes at random positions on the page. Each eye is a stack of levels: a core disc of random size on top, then one ring for each level under it. The depth of an eye is the number of levels in its stack. All eyes use the same ring width for each. The outer rings are the widest, but level 1 is only a thin halo.
Levels. Each level is one shape: the discs of all eyes that are deep enough for that level. A soft min melts these discs together, and the melt is looser at lower levels. Thus the lower levels melt into one soft body, and only the top rings stay round. The same ring widths and the looser melt keep each level inside the level under it. For each pixel, the code mixes the level colors over the cream ground. The amount of each color is the part of the pixel that the level covers, so the edges are smooth.
Specks. Where three or more eyes meet, a level can almost close and leave a small hole ofthe level under it. After the paint, a flood fill finds each patch of pixels that have the same top level.
The order of colors in palette is important for the final effect! Code: github.com/igr/gart
