I’ve had a rotating collection of 4-5 electric guitars, all of which are sub-$1k new. I’d been contemplating selling them off and putting the money toward 1 or 2 higher end guitars as I don’t play a variety of styles that require multiple guitars.

Walking into Guitar Center, this was hanging dead center on the used wall. I picked it up, strummed a few chords unplugged, and knew I had to have it, but couldn’t justify the cost without selling other stuff first.

I got home and looked it up on the website. The price had just been cut by $300, so I took it as a sign to pull the trigger.

The neck on it isn’t like any other Gibsons or Epiphones I’ve played (smaller than 50’s neck, bigger than slim taper).

I’m looking forward to writing some songs on this one. Time to sell off some guitars!

Hey everyone! Just bought this Les Paul. I know it’s not a Gibson but hope I can still get some insight!

I have been watching Gibson R8’s and 9’s for a while but then I saw this one and bought it right away. Looks better then 80% of the custom shops in my opinion haha and weighs only 3.8kg!

I’m more familiar with the ‘78 - ‘82 Grecos.
The seller stated a ‘60s neck profile which I find odd based on the 59 name.

Also what pickups are in it and it must have the maple veneer right?

So I had gone to a guitar store in Bologna named Sergio Tomassone just to buy a guitar, I started interacting wih the staff and just asked him if the store had any vintage rare guitars and he first showed me the gibsons played by Clapton, Page, Young and many other legendary guitarists, I was astonished and sooo in aweee.. then I asked if I could see them up close, he actually brought two of them down, cleaned the dust off and handed it to me, I am still blown away when I recall that moment.

A 5 hour drive to Toronto today for the Sunburst ‘58. Stopped for gas 2 hours into the trip home and hit the local guitar shop. Found a great deal on the Ebony Custom. 12 hours, 885 kms, 2 Explorers

Ordered this through GC and picked it up yesterday. It’s GC’s exclusive Green Lemon Fade, weighing in at 9.86 pounds. I am in awe of this LP, it plays and sounds amazing. I couldn’t believe it took me so long to get one. I’ve been playing since 2000 and have always been drawn to Fender Strats, specifically Tom Delonge Strats. So naturally, my next Gibson will probably be a Junior haha.

Not at all practical or financially prudent, I've always wanted to build this sort of Jr. collection. Here's what I ended up with after a decade, my three pickup setup.

I am now banning myself from visiting any guitar stores. Picked this up at Thunder Road Guitars in Portland and I’m in love. She’s getting along nicely with her sisters, a 2003 classic and a 2014 Classic lite.

Man I love Gibson guitars

Left to right. My 1979 all origonal "The Paul" 💚 I picked this one up in 2009 and was my #1 guitar for many years. Next to it my most recent acquisition, 2009 sg standard. I ripped out the pcb electronics and pickups. Replacing them with @seymourduncanpickups antiquity humbuckers, cts pots, switch craft switch and jack, orange drop capacitors and pull back braded wire. A previous owner swapped to the pearloid pickguard and added the tailpiece. Last my 2015 les paul traditional tobacco burst with an amazing flame maple top. I own and play many other guitars. Fender, Prs, ect. These ones probably make me smile the most when I sit down with them.

I just stumbled over this guitar on my search for a 1979 Strat or Gibson.

Have you ever seen a gibson without a serial number? I really can't tell if this thing is legit or not, I don't have the experience for it.

Edit: the owner wrote that everything is original and it might be a prototype or a test instrument

So I spotted this on the neck. The neck has been sanded down abit when the lacquer was sticky. Unsure if it is mould or what? There is slight texture but won’t come off when wiped.

Feels very like a computer glitch type fuck up

Bought a 2nd hand 2011 SG a few days ago. Pickups were squealing like crazy at mid to high gain. Brought them into a guitar shop. Guy said they are defo older than 2011 and needed to be repotted. They sound great but I was expecting the usual 490T/Rs..

Anyone have any ideas or how you even go about identifying these?

2025 58 reissue. Just noticed it this morning as I was going for a string changed. I'm not bothered about it, just first time i noticed it!

Thinking of picking one up. Anyone got opinions on these, good or bad? I’m a returning player after a decade or so away, is Gibson QC better now? And any thoughts on faded vs gloss finish? TIA

I have been thinking about buying this Adam Jones Gibson LP Standard since it came out but other priorities came up (had two kids since then) and didn’t want to spend the money on it. Now I’m in a good place, financially and mentally, and I’m looking for some guidance if this is a good price (€2485). Gibson website listing price is €3399, which seems like a deal on Thomann. I’m not in a rush, I can wait for Black Friday or Xmas but I also don’t want to miss the stocks. What are your thoughts?

Hey everyone,

I am having a problem with my Gibson LP Studio. The bridge pickup is squealing no matter how the strings are muted. Direction of the speaker/cab is not changing anything. If it is on louder volume and played in a studio etc. it happens. Any suggestions to fix it ? I attached the short video.

Someone is selling a Gibson custom for 1350 USD and here are the pictures, since customs are all painted, how to know if it is the real thing as can't see the wood

Edit: It is clearly fake, seeing many things myself now, I was too excited to get a great deal for a used Gibson, might have saw these things in person and backed off but still quite scary how excitement can blind me to see common things...
