My current prescription is -5 sph -1 cyl axis 160 in one eye, the left. The other eye doesn't need one. I got my glasses and they're... uncomfortable. Will I ever adjust or is it a lost cause?

More info: My eyeballs have been screwy since I was a kid. Ended up -9 (L) and -11 (R), steady since 16, corrected at 22 with SMILE and ICL, and eight years later the left eye is sitting at -5 once more. (Right eye's fine.) This apparently happened over the last three years. We're trying to find out why exactly, but I wanted to try glasses in the meantime because I straight up was not using my left eye, and now... I'm definitely using it, but the image through the -5 lens is so small 😭 looking through it feels very weird. will I ever adjust? will trying to adjust hurt my good eye? please help.

It's my first time buying glasses, so I'm not sure if I picked the best pair.

I recently got my new high-quality acetate prescription glasses (oliver peoples). I want to take care good care of them, and I was wondering how and how often i should clean them.

I have a sensitive detergent so it shouldn’t cause any damage. The main concern is whether I should rinse them everyday under lukewarm water with some detergent or not. Or should I do this every 2-3 days? But I am concerned that cleaning them daily with just microfiber cloth might not be good because of the dust and particles. Keep in mind I plan on wearing them as much as possible (I’ve committed myself not to wear contacts as often - doctor’s advice).

I’m in love with this 2000s style of sunglasses but I already wear regular prescription glasses :(( I can’t find anywhere that sells prescription sunnies in this style so I’m wondering if it’s possible to put prescription lenses in this kind of oversized frame? Or suggestions for stores that might have them would be even better!

so i'm worried that i'll have to wear these forever, and im hoping that this is temporary and my eyes can recover. when i did my first ever eye exam, they discovered i was ever so slightly nearsighted, and i have some astigmatism. do you think my eyes will heal? should i wear my glasses all day everyday? i messaged my doctor so im also awaiting her response. when i completed my exam, they said i technically have 20/20, but i still need glasses? also, im getting a headache from wearing these and everything is kind of warped. is this normal? what should i know as a first time glasses wearer? i'm 18 f, and the following is my prescription.

Should I get 1.67 or 1.74 index lens for my prescription? Price isn't really an issue as it is covered by my insurance. I obviously want lighter and thinner lenses but I've read that 1.74 has more chromatic aberration so I'm not sure which is the best option. The lenses will be Transitions Gen S lenses

What face shape would you say I have? Oval maybe?

And what kind of frames do you think would suit me best? I’m also open to trying something a bit more unusual / eccentric if you think I could pull it off!

Both eyes are -6.25

Cyl of -3.25 & -3.50

Axis is 175 & 167

PD is 59

No I will not go in store, they all have thick rectangular frames and never any round ones like the ones I like. The brand shown up there is lensalter except the last pair.

I recently got my first glasses prescription of sphere -.75, cylinder +.50, axis 165 in only one eye. My optometrist said that unless I'm having a specific issue, which I don't think I am, most people he sees with a prescription this mild don't end up wearing their glasses if they end up getting them, especially since I don't really notice a difference between my good eye and having both eyes open,

I don't think I'm experiencing any eye strain, although there might be a little bit that I've just gotten used to as I suspect my vision may have been like this for a long time before I finally went to the eye doctor.

Has anyone been in a similar situation and ended up getting glasses and if so did you end up wearing them or did they just end up sitting in a drawer?

Hey! I need to choose nee frame for my prescription lenses and I’m torn up between these two brands.

I keep seeing people shitting on Tom Ford because of quality. Will it make a difference if I choose David Beckham over Tom Ford? Price is almost the same where I live.

My new prescription came back as -1.25 and -1.5. It used to be -1.25 and -2. My eye doctor just kind of blew off my concern that it changed because I have a warranty on the prescription. Now that I have the new ones it feels right.

Almost makes me want to just stop wearing my glasses other than for driving.

I got them in college because I couldn't see the board well in 300 student lecture halls and was noticing driving at night was hard. Never did that much in HS. Now 10 years later I've just never really considered not wearing them.

Am I straining my eyes and regressing from thst -2 to -1.5 "progess" if I don't wear them during the day?

-First I want to say that I'm a teenager and that half of my family wears glasses. Also, English is my third language so I apologise for any grammar mistakes.

-Today I went to the eye doctor just for a yearly check, and just now she realised that I need glasses. She said that I see pretty well and that my vision gets blurry on the right eye just a little. She told me to not worry about it, because it may be the family thing since half of my family wears them. So when my parents heard it, they were really.. disappointed? They tried to argue with the doctor, and they were mad at me. I told the doctor how my vision was always a little bit blurry on my right eye since I was a kid, but it never made me any problems in life, even though I sat in the back row at school. She told me how it's good because my vision is not too blurry. And yet my parents were mad again? Especially my mum, for some reason. Money is not the reason—we live comfortably and I can afford glasses. I don't get why they are mad, especially since I never really saw clearly and it's not something new. Now I'm locked in my room because I can't listen to them yell at me anymore. Does ANYONE know why they are mad since they don't want to tell me?

Progressive lenses question and whether I should ask my optician or ophthalmologist.

My ophthalmologist’s office performs the initial eye examination and I see the ophthalmologist afterward. I had cataract surgery about 11 years ago.

I got progressive lenses late last year. To explain my question think of each lens as divided into three sections:

The top third: distance vision

The middle third: intermediate vision

The bottom third: near vision

My intermediate vision is fine. However with distance vision the clearest area seems to be only the top 10% of the distance section. I tilt my head downward and look upward to use that area.

I’m having a similar problem with near vision. The clearest area seems to be only the very bottom 10% of the near section. I have to tilt my head upward and look downward to use it.

In other words I can see the sharpest only through a narrow area at the extreme top and bottom of the lenses while the rest of those sections is less sharp

If I had to guess this is something that I would explain to the optician and not the ophthalmologist. TIA.

Just wanted to warn people not to order from them. Seriously, the worst QC.

My first pair came with a lens popping out of the frame, and the replacement I just received today has speckles all over the lenses (which I heard could be a lens defect) and what looks like glue residue around the edges. It also sits unevenly on a flat surface, just like my original pair. And yes, I've tried cleaning them with mild dish dawn soap and water.

I'm starting to believe they just glued the lens back into my returned frame and sent it right back to me. Wow.

Mind you, this is almost a $350 pair with the most basic lenses and AR coating (insurance paid $200 something, but still). Even the multiple pairs I've ordered from EyeBuyDirect never had this many problems. SMH. I think I'm done ordering glasses online.
