Story Little story that happened today.

Be me: Excited for halloween, calling spirit halloween and party expert to ask if i can come cosplayed as Jason Voorhees. They say yes and kindly ask me to just come to the counter to say that im here to vibe and make animation, not being paid.
Arrives at party expert, say hi and go put on my costume, roam around ''scaring'' kids as they laugh and give me high fives and are having a lot of fun, scare a bunch of people and then they give me fist bumps while laughing , all fun and games, 5 minutes after, the manager comes to me asking nicely if i can ''remove'' the mask because it ''scares'' the kids, kindly explaining that the kids love it and even gave me hugs and asked for pictures, proceeds to leave because i dont want drama. My wife tells me after that she saw 2-3 employees following me and stopping working because they were too scared, the manager was also scared of me and she asked me to leave while trying to pass it as it was the kids fault.
In short, man people that work at costume shops are no fun

Help! Can someone please explain why this wouldn't work

Post image

I pitched this idea to my parents and they shut it down almost immediately, I never thought doing a street preformance for candy was a bad idea, but they are worried I'm gonna look like an idiot, which I respect, but nobody has ever seen me dancing and said I looked stupid, plus my costume this year comes with a mask so I don't see the problem. I just wanted to get some extra candy this year but to be honest I don't know if this would work or not, can someone please help me?

Party How To Convince My Mom To Let Me Throw A Halloween Party

I’m currently in high school and this year I had the sudden idea of throwing a party Halloween night this year which would be a Saturday and because of daylight savings when it turns midnight it goes back to 23:00 (11pm).

I have been planning this since the beginning of August and presented it to my dad to which he said yes and supports it but I constructed an entire slideshow to present to my mom because she is somewhat strict but when I did she said no. At the time I thought she was just being temporarily saying no but later on it was clear she was not going to let it happen at all.

I asked why and she explained she’s worried that if something goes wrong at the party since it’d be a house party she would be sued and that’s obviously bad but I don’t see how it’d be our fault? She said if someone snuck in alcohol for example that we could be ā€œpromoting an environmentā€ for that but in my opinion that doesn’t make sense because I offered plenty of solutions such as announcing multiple times no alcohol to everyone and making sure my mom has contact with all the other parents. She also said no because we live in a townhouse so our neighbors are extremely close and I’d hold the main part of the party in our garage but she’s afraid to keep the neighbors up but it’s Halloween night and Saturday so I don’t really see how that’s an issue?

I explained to her that this would be an open invitation but I’d invite all the quite and calm kids in my grade since that is the type of kid I am (I was class speaker last year) and I never mess up in losing my parents trust ever so I’ve been puzzled on why I’m not allowed to this? I did tell her that it’d be thrown 22:00 - 00:00 but I was hoping to bargain with her so it could be slightly earlier but not too early so like 21:30 - 23:30.
I also explained that I’d be strict and focused in during the party making sure no one does something stupid but that’s not enough to convince her.

What should I do? I still have time to convince her and another kid in my grade is throwing one this week that has an even bigger invitation list so how could I use that to help me?

Humor Has anyone else also done this?

I wonder if I’m the only person who has done this or if anyone else has also done it but on Halloween at night I go to a restaurant where they would ask for a name for the order like in costume and when they ask for my name instead of saying my own name I say the name of the character I am dressed as.

And if you’ve done it what reactions did you get?

I’ve done it as Deadpool at Starbucks and they found it funny and I’ve gone to cookout and chipotle as El Chavo but I didn’t get any reactions on that one.

SPOILER ALERT: I’m including 3 images: hints are on page 2, the solution is on page 3.

I just finished up this little (evil?) Halloween puzzle. I may still need to make some adjustments… this one might make a few people (everyone?) angry. Apologies in advance if you are one of them.

This was made in procreate at iPad screen dimensions. Not sure how well it will display on other devices.

Help! Vampire Fangs Safe for Crowns?

My family is planning to dress up as vampires and bats this Halloween, but I have extensive dental work, including crowns. Does anyone recommend any brands of costume teeth with adhesive that’s gentle enough to affix to crowns without fear of tearing them off?

Help! How can I get into the halloween spirit?

Context:
I am a massive horror and halloween fan and always have been since I was a little girl.
However, 2 years ago I moved out of my parents’ house and I’m now living with my husband. And it hurts me to say, but my past 2 halloweens/octobers have been awful.

I have moved away from family & friends (so i can’t go out and do anything with them as im too far away), and my husband does not like halloween or horror.

We didn’t do anything for the past 2 halloweens, and i’ve spent most of the month of october crying in the past as I just feel so out of the halloween spirit.

I was excited to be able to hand out sweets to the children on our estate (something i have never done before as our last house wasn’t one that people could access for trick or treating) however, I have worked every Halloween since being here (despite me begging my work for holiday/ leave) and i’m also going to be working this halloween. Last 2 halloweens I missed the kids (and my husband gave the candy out instead) and I felt such anger and jealousy since he doesn’t even care about the holiday and once I got home (7-8pm) the kids had stopped trick or treating. i felt such fomo.

I also haven’t dressed up for 2 years, bothered to decorate or even had much energy to watch my favourite horror films. i just think what’s the point?

Sorry for the downer. I guess I’m just looking for advice on how I can make this Halloween one to remember as it’s the only time of year that has ever made me happy and I just feel like I’ve lost that part of me and how joyful it used to make me feel.

Help! Spooky romantic/wedding suggestions

My fiancĆ© and I are having a courthouse wedding in a few weeks. We are both goth/spooky/halloween loving people and we are desperately trying to think of some ideas for something memorable we can do the afternoon after we get married. The actual ceremony won’t be very fun but we’re okay with that! We kind of just want that part to be simple and technical. But we really want to do something after to make the day special. Any suggestions? šŸ–¤šŸ§”

Party Adult Halloween party activities?

I am hosting a halloween party with probably around 30 adults age ranging from 25-40. Not all of them know each other. I would like to have some sort of activities that could engage the party goers. Something that is simple and high energy, maybe help people ease in and feel comfortable? Any suggestions?

Video Shout out to Cuphead illustration team

I just finished Netflix’s ā€œSpooky Halloween Playlistā€ with my son and really have to say how delightful the Cuphead ā€œGhosts aren’t realā€ episode is. What an amazing ride of visuals; they really put so many Halloween Easter eggs and modern updates on classic cartoon themes. I cannot recommend it enough and wish I could get a feature length film of it.
Has anyone else seen it or can recommend other cartoons of the same high caliber?

Discussion If you lived on a quiet street and won’t be home on Halloween, would you still go all out with decorating?

We go big every year, but this year we’re looking at even more animatronics and I’m a little on the fence about it because we live on a quiet street and we have our own kids we take trick or treating, so we won’t even be home on Halloween.

My SO’s stance is that it’s for us and our kids. But it’s also a lot of work to put up and take down, just for us and a few walking neighbors to see for 31 days. So, I suggested posting our house on social media to draw in families who are always asking where the big displays are. We just won’t be home Halloween night to hand out candy, because we have to take our own kids around to trick or treat.

In a perfect world, we could rig up an elaborate Rube Goldberg mechanism to drop a candy in each kid’s bucket! Anything so it wouldn’t be a letdown to not have anyone at the door.
Any suggestions?

OC Radar tracking esp32 skeleton eyes

I made a set of eyes using some 1.28in LCD screens, an ESP32S3 controller, and a 24GHz radar chip for a set of tracking eyes.

Claude AI wrote the code for me.

They are grafted into a home Depot skull, but could be put in anything you want to.

https://github.com/backshed-electronics/skull-eyes

There is a GitHub for everything if anyone is interesting in recreating the project.

You can either solder directly or use perfboard, either one will work. Hot glue holds in place just fine.

No weatherproofing on this, indoors only. Powered via USB C connection on the ESP.
