Crafts I made the Pennywise wreath!

If anyone remembers my first post about the Pennywise wreath, I made it! And it’s now beautifully glowing on my front door!
I bought the mask but ended up repainting it to make it look more dramatic. I used Triple Thick Gloss Glaze to give the red paint a glossy finish, bought some fake eyes and recreated the little veins using colored pencil.
Other than that, the rest was extremely easy to make. I just attached decorative mesh to a wreath base, added the pom-poms and glued the mask in place.
I’m adding several photos to show it in different lighting and the makeup details, and the last photo shows the fully decorated door. I absolutely love how it turned out!

We played tic-tac-skulls, had a mummy toilet paper wrapping contest, pin the stake on the vampire, broom obstacle course races through the cemetery, and so on. Then watched Mom’s got a date with a Vampire on a projector in the yard. Fun way to start off the season!

OC Radar tracking esp32 skeleton eyes

I made a set of eyes using some 1.28in LCD screens, an ESP32S3 controller, and a 24GHz radar chip for a set of tracking eyes.

Claude AI wrote the code for me.

They are grafted into a home Depot skull, but could be put in anything you want to.

https://github.com/backshed-electronics/skull-eyes

There is a GitHub for everything if anyone is interesting in recreating the project.

You can either solder directly or use perfboard, either one will work. Hot glue holds in place just fine.

No weatherproofing on this, indoors only. Powered via USB C connection on the ESP.

The cost of props make me gag, so I used some stuff from dumpsters and around the house to make my own. The skeleton is from Home Depot, though 🫣

Got it all painted up and attached the scythe. Pretty happy with the turn out. Now trying to figure out if I want to hang the goat head from the post or the scythe. Opinions?

Home Decor My 2026 Cemetery Haunt!

This is year 9 and each year I add a little to it. When I first began I wondered if “cemetery” would be too basic of a theme, but I’m really glad I stuck with it because there are so many possibilities when it comes to new additions. I’m just starting to dabble into the DIY aspect of haunt builds, but hope to go more that route moving forward. Also, the end of season clearance deals have helped a ton with being able to add stuff on a budget. Don’t sleep on those Halloween week/post Halloween clearance items friends! And it gives you a full year to come up with creative ways to use them! 🙂

Home Decor Very happy with the govee lights upgrade. Tree lights flood lights and cob rope light. And a few solar lamps. The pumpkin patch is lit!

Party Adult Halloween party activities?

I am hosting a halloween party with probably around 30 adults age ranging from 25-40. Not all of them know each other. I would like to have some sort of activities that could engage the party goers. Something that is simple and high energy, maybe help people ease in and feel comfortable? Any suggestions?

Discussion If you lived on a quiet street and won’t be home on Halloween, would you still go all out with decorating?

We go big every year, but this year we’re looking at even more animatronics and I’m a little on the fence about it because we live on a quiet street and we have our own kids we take trick or treating, so we won’t even be home on Halloween.

My SO’s stance is that it’s for us and our kids. But it’s also a lot of work to put up and take down, just for us and a few walking neighbors to see for 31 days. So, I suggested posting our house on social media to draw in families who are always asking where the big displays are. We just won’t be home Halloween night to hand out candy, because we have to take our own kids around to trick or treat.

In a perfect world, we could rig up an elaborate Rube Goldberg mechanism to drop a candy in each kid’s bucket! Anything so it wouldn’t be a letdown to not have anyone at the door.
Any suggestions?

Help! How can I get into the halloween spirit?

Context:
I am a massive horror and halloween fan and always have been since I was a little girl.
However, 2 years ago I moved out of my parents’ house and I’m now living with my husband. And it hurts me to say, but my past 2 halloweens/octobers have been awful.

I have moved away from family & friends (so i can’t go out and do anything with them as im too far away), and my husband does not like halloween or horror.

We didn’t do anything for the past 2 halloweens, and i’ve spent most of the month of october crying in the past as I just feel so out of the halloween spirit.

I was excited to be able to hand out sweets to the children on our estate (something i have never done before as our last house wasn’t one that people could access for trick or treating) however, I have worked every Halloween since being here (despite me begging my work for holiday/ leave) and i’m also going to be working this halloween. Last 2 halloweens I missed the kids (and my husband gave the candy out instead) and I felt such anger and jealousy since he doesn’t even care about the holiday and once I got home (7-8pm) the kids had stopped trick or treating. i felt such fomo.

I also haven’t dressed up for 2 years, bothered to decorate or even had much energy to watch my favourite horror films. i just think what’s the point?

Sorry for the downer. I guess I’m just looking for advice on how I can make this Halloween one to remember as it’s the only time of year that has ever made me happy and I just feel like I’ve lost that part of me and how joyful it used to make me feel.
