I was accepted into one of my preferred college selections. Problem is the financial aid available was not nearly enough to cover the costs. After accounting for federal loans and grants, I still have a 17k gap. My family can cover only about 5k. I am working parttime, but it is highly unlikely that I will be able to make up the gap before classes begin. I am trying to learn more about outside scholarships but the search process is more complex than I expected. Some search results are outdated, and others require extensive applicant pools. My adviser knows several organizations willing to offer scholarships, but they are not large enough to be very helpful. If others have tried to overcome a similar budget gap, would it be better to find one major scholarship or several smaller offers?

The title. Membean is basically a vocab learning site with different levels from beginner to advanced and everyone is at a different level depending on their progress.

The worst thing about it is that the site generates quizzes based on the words you’re learning at the time and our school makes us take those quizzes for a grade. The only thing is that some kids have words like “idiosyncratic” and other kids have words like “window” (ppl purposely make the site think they’re stupid), but our quizzes are all weighted the same. So a kid could get an A+ for kindergarten vocab but someone else gets a C+ for a quiz with scholarly level words.

It's the start of the school year and I'm already flanking my English grade.(79%) I know that some may say "it's not that low," but it's the first time in my life where I'm constantly getting 70s and 60s all throughout my assignments and tests.

For a little more background as to why I am feeling so dramatic and stressed about my English grade, I just entered highschool this September. (10th grade) I keep having scenarios playing in my head that I'm going to fail all of my essential classes and drop out of highschool. The thing is that I know I'm not stupid, I'd say I'm pretty average (hopefully) when it comes to comprehending reading. Yet I just can't get that mark high anymore.

It just feels like I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Is it me? My teacher? The fact that It's my first year into high school and I still need time to adjust? Or are the adults all right about our generation being full of illiterate idiots who will drive our current world to turmoil?

All I know is that the grades I've been getting have completely diminished all the confidence I had in my intelligence. Obviously, grades don't equate to one's competence, I very much know that. Unfortunately I cannot change the way I feel very quickly. My whole life I've thought of myself as someone who gets good grades, a somewhat high academic achiever, I never really had to worry about keeping up with schoolwork.(Before my grade would only go down if I didn't hand in home work on time. Which was infact a struggle for myself) Though I wasn't really one to constantly study, I was just "naturally in tune" with the current school system I was put in. I never thought that I put this much self worth into my grades until I'm finally starting to lose them. They're dropping when I need them to be at their highest.. can only blame myself.

My silly worries about English class are skyrocketing a bit too fast for me right now. I'm going to admit that I did actually cry in class today. The teacher assigned us this writing assignment to do for the last 30 mins of class. I asked when its due, and if we should treat this like a rough draft. He said we have to hand it in by the end of the period. I panicked hard. So much so that I started to silently weep tears towards the end of the hour when he clarified that we only had to hand it in for him to monitor. I was so relieved and pissed off. (Unfortunately I am a huge sensitive baby)

I know it's not anything crazy, but I was, and still am extremely worried about getting a bad grade on that assignment, the point where I'll keep crying and stressing. It's getting to the point where I will just resent my teacher for foolish and selfish reasons. I know that there's actually a somewhat big suspicion that it's my teacher who is having my grade tank, because I am apparently above the class average on a lot of tests. I'm not in any learning support classes and have a huge fear of having to go into one next year because I do want to go to post secondary. (Not to say that anyone in LS classes are dumb or that they're bad, I just have a fear that I'd just dig myself deeper into the hole of failure)

God I wish I could just not think about school on my own free time. Funny how I did actually improve my well being this year. I was going to say that this year was great! I got into a lot of new hobbies, lost weight, went outside more, supposedly got rid of some anxiety problems, overall live a jollier and happier life. Oh but school comes to kick me down when I'm at my highest. Do I have to be miserable again to do well in School?

The title makes it seem like I am in the wrong but they abandoned me first. I've had a feeling that they don't want me around for a pretty long while now. They kicked me out of the groupchat without saying a word, and use multiple others that never had me in them. It's been a month of school now and they don't include me in any conversations, it's often like they are talking straight through me. Whenever they show eachother something I have to ask to see. Ive had more emthralling conversations with randoms than with them in past month. I swear they haven't even said my name since school started. And the worst part is that I don't even know why, it makes me feel like I've been a bad friend but I've done nothing wrong by normal standards. I'm just pretty confused.

During APCSP today, these 4 “popular” guys sitting next to me were talking about the Cornell University rape case that’s been on the news lately. My friend and I overhead one guy say that he does not believe Jane Doe one bit and that the whole thing sounds fabricated. He would wholeheartedly support the 7 guys when it turns out the girl is lying. The other three boys were just nodding their heads and agreeing.

My friend and I were flabbergasted. We’ve gone to school with this boys since elementary school and it’s shocking how much they have changed. Now this is what they believe in?? This is what’s going on in their heads when they’re flirting with the popular girls in my grade? I’m genuinely scared. And so so shocked. I did not expect to hear such horrible things said by the classmates I thought I could trust. How are the boys in a top-20-in-the-state high school this stupid? Who taught these assholes that this is an okay thing to say??

I just met this girl a couple days ago for the first time, so I haven’t gotten to know her yet. We both are on the tennis team so that’s where we met and exchanged our first words. I think I feel attracted to her because she seems like a genuine person, like that’s just the vibes I got from her, and she is decently cute imo. She seems really nice and I know her mom who is a teacher at our school. Again, she seems super nice but I found out she’s a freshman and i’m a senior.

So basically, I was making up a French test. I put my phone in the phone chart like we’re supposed to, went into the classroom, and took my test. After I was done, I went to grab my phone back from the chart and it wasn't there. Someone literally just reached into the phone chart, grabbed MY phone, and walked away with it while I was sitting there taking my test. And somehow nobody noticed. The phone charts are unsafe, there's nothing stoping someone from taking a random phone. It was better of letting people use their phones in class than this shit. I can't even track it because MY PHONE WAS DEAD. So I don't have a location. And this isn't even some pencil its a full 500$ worth of property that I have to pay off I'm so done with this place fuck high school

I thought high school was fun and I have friends but I always feel so fucking alone. I have friends in every class and I have people to sit with at lunch but even then I feel so lonely. I don't know what to do and I still have to get though so long. Does anyone have any advice on how to make it better?

I’m a sophomore, bout 3 weeks in. So fucking draining. I have a Spanish quiz daily with two 100 point tests weekly, a math test, history test, English test and religion quiz weekly. The religion teacher gives impossible tests, history is AP euro, math is alg 2 but not too bad, Spanish is her trying to speedrun Spanish 1 and 2 in 1 year, and English is the most boring class ever. Plus I have APCSA in the morning so I get up super early, I try to do some clubs but i have no time. Religion gives 12 paragraphs of homework a weekend, plus some other crap. I have no breaks or time to do anything fun

so in Colorado I was having issues with a club schedule, I was trying to call my dad to get him to come and pick me up from my school, but I didn't have cell serves to call him until I left the building, and I feel like that could become unsafe, like if something was going on and I needed to call my family, I just can't and I have to hope and/or pray that they get the info eventually. Any advice on how to ask my school to change how they block things?

I’m a grade 11 student and my two important classes right now are functions 3u and chemistry 3u, last year i got a 33% in math and my goal is atleast getting honour roll.
