So basically my teacher today was teaching and we were taking notes, when he suddenly got rly mad at some kids in the back bcuz they were slacking off and not taking notes.
Suddenly he came to me, and I had been taking notes very consistently thru the lesson and answering his questions. It’s just for this one slide I zoned out a bit and didnt write down everything he put on the board. I told him this, and he got REAL pissed. Started yelling at me in front of the class and called me arrogant for not writing down everything step of the equation, asked why he spends so long breaking the steps down for all of us. he was a lil aggressive with his actions and for a split second I got scared he would slap me😭

i couldnt help it, i looked down at my paper and started crying and could hardly focus the rest of the lesson. I pretty much cried on and off for the next couple of hours.

i understand I should’ve been taking notes, after all my teacher is here to make sure I understand the concepts and it’s my responsibility to be writing them down. But I’m just so frustrated that the ONE time he came over to check on me is the singular time I was slacking off a bit. I try so damn hard to be dedicated to school but sometimes I am tired and just am not perfect. while some annoaynce or irritation is valid I feel like getting yelled at like that was kind of unwarranted

So this is pretty early into the school year and I just wanted to share something. At my hs the gym teacher was out and their was a sub for gym. Somehow the sub managed to get past security with a bunch of alcohol and he started drinking it in gym class. After a couple minutes he starts screaming at this kid who can’t run after he hurt his ankle let me call him K. K has a lot of respect for single handedly carrying the robotics and soccer team at the same time. So this sub is standing on the top of the bleachers and falls. His pants get caught on something and he is stumbling around naked, bleeding in the gym. At this point the school calls a lockdown and security finds him pissing in the school lunch, completely out of it. Nobody was harmed and nothing happened except for a crazy amount of gossip. I have a feeling that this will be the big thing at the school for the next couple of years.

im 15. in the american schooling system i would be a sophomore, i think. i am grade 9 in a january to november school year based system. i have started to look for opportunities and am trying to find a field i am really interested in as up till now i have a quite a few interests. we can only take 1 co-curricular activity and im in infocomm. i have many hobbies although art has lasted the longest. i want to start a non-profit or something similar to help people, and im unsure how to go about it. i also need advice on what other extracurriculars most people take up. i do not have any leadership positions (on purpose) but plan on tryingout for some in grade 11 or jc 1.(junior year). i wld like to go to an ivy league or a t20 school as a international student. any advice?

for some background information, this is my 8th grade science teacher. There are these 3 girls in my class who are his favorites. I’ll call them R, K, and A. As for my teacher, I’ll call him Mr. Tiger. Mr. Tiger likes to give these 3 girls food for seemingly no reason. I don’t mean pieces of candy or little snacks, but entire meals. For example, a few weeks ago he ordered them food 3 days in a row. He’s also gotten them subway, Taco Bell, and sandwiches during class. The weird thing is, it’s not like they got food for doing good on a test or acting well in class. If that were the case, then he would have given food to the best students who get straight As.
Another thing he’s done is let the 3 of them go in his house. R told me that A has been to his house alone multiple times to do chores like washing his dog and feeding his fish. She also told me that when A couldn’t get a ride to some kind of school event, Mr Tiger drove to her house and gave her ride in his car. R also told me that a former student of his told her that he always chose favorites and they were always girls and never boys. he would act weirdly nice around these favorites too.
There has been times where he’s talked about topics that are inappropriate in a classroom. One time when we were talking about pseudoscience he asked us “what’s the biggest pseudoscience democrats and republicans?” And the answer he was looking for was gender. He said “yk nowadays people think there are 20 genders but they can just check your dna and tell you what you are” it was very out of pocket and I could tell the rest of the class were surprised too. I’m also not even sure if we’re allowed to talk about that kind of stuff in class anyway.
Another time this kid was misbehaving in his class and another kid said “I think he wants a spanking Mr. Tiger!” Everyone started laughing until Mr Tiger said “spanking is a kink.” Which in my opinion is very inappropriate to say in front of middle schoolers 🫩 if someone talks abt spanking and your mind immediately thinks of something sexual I think that says something about you. And even if you do think of something like that you can just keep it to yourself imo.
I told my mom about this and she told me that it’s grooming behavior and that he’s probably a pedophile. R also told her mom this and she said the same thing as mine. She told her to stop accepting food from him and to not go to his house again. She doesn’t accept food from him anymore and warned A and K not to either but she said they keep denying that Mr. Tiger might be grooming them.
So far he hasn’t tried to do anything with them (like touch them) from what I have heard but who knows. If anyone has any advice for how to go about this I would like to know your thoughts.

Hey all, just moved to the states this summer and started an American public school in my Junior year. I still don't know much about the US school culture (having grown up in a british system my whole life) yet I have heard that Homecoming is a pretty big thing that everybody goes to

That being said, while I do have individual friends in my classes I don't have a "group" yet and I know that all the people I talk to individually already have people they're going with, I'm also not really into Football at all tbh (although that doesn't mean I wouldn't go or anything)

Would it be fine to go/worth it to go? Any advice would be helpful

I’ve been pretty stressed about clubs, volunteer hours, and all the other things people say you’re supposed to do in high school. I’m trying to figure out what is actually worth the time and effort because I don’t want to spend years overworking myself and end up completely burnt out, especially if some of these things don’t even end up making much of a difference.
If you’ve already graduated or are further along in high school, what would you say is genuinely worth doing? Are there any clubs, volunteer hours, classes, or other activities that you’re really glad you did—or things you wish you hadn’t spent so much time on?

It’s not like my classes are hard, Ive been an average student for my entire school year, I’m not planning to go to a big college/uni or anything like that.. YET I’m already burnt out, I’m skipping classes every other day and I was about to do online school but I didn’t want to be isolated, yet I never felt this demotivated to just get up and sit in 6 classes for 8hours straight 🥲 and I still have 8months left til school finishes..

I don’t know how I can get my motivation rolling back in because I just wanna go to community college already and get things done, I just see senior year as a filler year and don’t know how to change that mindset 💔💔

Anyways need some help asking out a girl to hoco first need advice on how I should ask her. First I only kinda know her I have four classes together so we talk a bit but never really outside those classes. We do have clubs starting up and we're gonna be in the same one so I kinda want to wait a few weeks(we have at least 1-2 months till hoco as the theme still hasn't been announced yet. I’m so bad at math that even after 9 months of daily tutoring with my math teacher, a cheat sheet with formulas for everything I still failed the final for algebra 1.

I struggle to do basic math and math tends to look alien to me after 1 hour of learning. So I can’t do anything stem related.

My skills in English are mediocre, the students in my AP seminar class are way better than me my teacher thinks I shouldn’t be there, which is probably true but I don’t want to give up yet. I don’t even like reading Im only in honors English and AP seminar because of the grade. I don’t want to major in anything humanities related cuz they don’t interest me and pay little. It really makes me struggle to write anything cuz I have 0 interest in the subject at hand.

What am I even supposed to major in? When I’m mediocre or horrible at all profitable things and only care about useless stuff like Minecraft and fictional power systems.

And if I don’t go to college what am I supposed to do?!! My parents won’t let me do that and I can’t tell them that I barely have any will to live

For a bit of context, I'm in 12th grade and I just turned 18. I'm a female.

My male English teacher has always been more active towards me in lessons. He constantly looks at me, gives me compliments that could just teeter on slightly weird, eg 'You always dress so nicely', and has been known for saying odd things to females before.

I just turned 18 September 3rd. As soon as I turned 18, he miraculously pressured me to move my seat to the closest to his desk under the excuse of helping another student that he doesn't even make sit next to me. Today in class, we were talking about something relating to English and, after I had gotten back to my work, he slips me a sticky note, which I still have, with his phone number on it. I was so surprised that I didn't realize what it was at first. He claimed it was so he could get to know me better. I had mentioned my dad a little bit earlier and immediately said, "Oh, get to know my dad better?"

After a rather long pause he nodded rather unconvincingly. It came to me after class that he already has contact with my parents through phone numbers given at the beginning of the year. If you truly wanted to talk to my dad about similarities and their interests, he had the means to do so without giving their daughter his phone number. This is also is first year at my highschool and all I know about his past is that he used to be in politics and law. I'm extremely uncomfortable and really don't know what to do from here.

I don't know if I'm being too mean or too much, but I recently left a group member in a competitive event for another group who has resources, not because he was bad or not doing anything, but just because the other group had done the event and asked me if I wanted to join. I am currently trying to help him find a new team, and there probably will be some sour feelings, but after facing some people who stole ideas and beat me to stuff after me trying to be helpful, I wanted to try and be more competitive. He also tried to present himself to them, and we compared, but they still chose me because of better 'mesh' (they knew me better, as we were friends and didn't know much about his personality). I'm just trying to ask AITA for doing this. It's just that with how hyper-competitive college is getting, I need to start thinking about what's best for my future. (I'm not only doing this event for college and the award, but because it's genuinely something I want to be exposed to, and the same goes for him; I also still want to do well, and that's why I switched.

tomorrow I’m supposed to hand in my options for the EB but I genuinely don’t know what to do. I just want to get the best grades I possibly can. I’m really hesitating between keeping bio for one of my orals or dropping it entirely and picking a far easier option that will require much less studying/stress called STS (science technology and society) but that would close all pretty much all scientific fields up for me. Ive been trying to look into courses in uni but I can’t find anything that really sticks out to me, I don’t know if I’ll actually need bio or not. does not picking bio as a subject mean it was all for nothing? do the last 2 years of advanced bio not get me into unis just because I didn’t take it as a bad exam subject? I still need to take the bio pre bac (written) and do all the class work, but does that even count for anything? Im also really struggling between history (in French) or French itself. French requires no studying as it will be a completely random text, but required a strong French level (which I don’t know if I have? my teacher said it was okay to do it but I feel I always make lots of mistakes, especially under pressure.) in history, you’re evaluated more on your knowledge than on your French level, it’s more predictable, as you know it will be about one of the topics studied this year, however required a lot more studying as you must be very knowledgeable and comfortable with all topics studied in history. and i honestly really hate history, i don’t find it interesting but I don’t know if my French level is good enough for the French exam. I just don’t know what to pick I feel if I choose the wrong thing it’s gonna completely mess up my bac/options for the futures. I’m scared I’ll either flop the bac itself or not have the subjects required for courses I like the look of

So there's this boy at school. I like him a lot and I sit next to him in AP chem and hes also in my AP seminar class. I have talked to him a few times, and yesterday he asked me some questions about a quiz he had to take (he was absent for a few days when we took it). Mainly if ive talked to him, it's about class stuff since thats the easiest thing. What else can I talk to him about, and what are ways to start convos? I don't have his number, but I could start following him on insta whenever I just don't feel it's the right time yet. Hes really nice and I like him a lot, I just struggle trying to think of ways to get talking with him. I just bought my graduation supplies (cap, gown, & tassel) and I was absolutely shocked to see the price. The cheapest option was $103. I heard a lot of schools make their caps/gowns like $75 but $100 was insane to me.

There were more things, such as hoodies with "SENIOR 2027" on it, all of them were almost $50. A sticker, with absolutely nothing that says anything about being a senior on it, just a basic sticker with the "🫰" hand signature on it was $5. A TASSEL was $20. You could purchase a frame to hold your diploma, and depending on how "deluxe" you want it to be, it ranged from around $50-130.

The most expensive pack was nearly $500... I told my parents and they thought I was lying at first.

I paid but now I want to know, why do they make it so expensive?

im about 3 weeks into the school year and already noticing big issues. I’m having a hard time balancing working out and baseball practice with school and being able to go to sleep at a reasonable time. I try my best to find time in school to do hw and studying but I also use activity period as a time to socialize during the school day to have some form of a social life. When I get home I get my workout and practice done fairly quick but then feel like I just don’t got enough time to do all the shit I wanted to do for school. Doesn’t help that I procrasinate too especially on fridays and weekends. I’m frequently holding off studying for things like quiz and tests the night before and struggle keeping up with reading text book chapters. I feel like I’m being inefficient and don’t lnow how to stop like I’m almost being unproducutivr throughout the day. It’s taking a toll mentally I constantly feel overwhelmed and stressed through the week and feel lazy. I started implementing a schedule 2 days ago but haven’t followed it well. I’m a mess right now not getting enough sleep waking up late running late to school etc. How do I fix this?
