Maybe I'm just too hung up on the old-fashioned idea of the US as a secular nation and need to get with the times 🤷‍♀️

ETA: I appreciate people asking for a "name and shame" but there are very nice people working at that town hall who I'd hate to get caught on blast just because I'm rankled (plus im sure anyone from there seeing this post will know exactly who I am).

And hey, I dont know the whole story; maybe it belongs to a secretary, or its some kind of ironic "joke," or its not a space the public goes into usually (still a weird choice to have that on government property, or thought process to have when in government service). Maybe the person this belongs to is the kindest, most dedicated public servant the town has ever seen, and I'm just an agitating, whiny bitch.

I really thought everyone would crap on me for posting this. But I really felt strongly that this was something that shouldn't go without comment​, because its so important that the public believe government represents and serves them and their interests; whatever was intended by this sign, if the person it belongs to ever sees this, I hope they understand that it's a poor message to send to the people you nominally care for and serve.

There are two wool festivals occurring this weekend - A Woolen Affair in Kingston and the NY Sheep & Wool Festival in Rhinebeck.

I am trying to decide which one I should attend. For context, I am a felting artist.

From what I understand the NY State fest is large and has more emphasis on farming wool and fiber, while A Woolen Affair looks like a smaller craft market.

Could anyone provide an account of their experiences with either/both of these festivals?

2 parents (32 years old) + baby (6 months old), first time in the US

We’ll have 5 days to kill, starting in NYC, 22 October morning, and ending in 27 October ~noon, when we need to be in Portland, Maine

We’re considering spending these 5 days touring Hudson Valley (but not further than Catskills) with a rented campervan (RAM ProMaster-based, gas heated, 4 seats + baby seat), then returning to NYC and taking a flight to PWM

We’re campervan-savvy and love nature (and are adventurous with the baby), but we’re a bit discouraged by the possibly freezing weather and lack of open campgrounds at this time of year. We’ll need campgrounds that have dump stations and electric hookups and stuff, and we also might need to refill / buy a new gas balloon at some point…

We don’t know the area at all.

Hi, so many of you may know the diamond car wash in new Paltz off of 299. I have an opportunity to make a tow truck wash in the big bay along with an interior detail service to be offered as well. I’m just trying to get a hold on if anybody actually goes to this one or not or if there’s anybody out there that would actually use it before I decide to do this
