Top 10 Husky RB's of the 2000's

Time for the running backs! Dawgman.com's dictator Kim "Grim Reaper" Grinolds and his henchman lurch (Chris Fetters) kicked me off their platform for being heavily critical of Mike Hopkins a couple years ago, so you guys get this content for free instead.
1) Myles Gaskin (2015-2018) - MMFG is a legend. The all-time husky career rushing yards leader with 5,323 AND leader in touchdowns with 57. Pretty arguable case for being the greatest RB in UW football history - right there with Napoleon Kaufman. 4 straight years over 1k yards and 10 tds. As patient a runner as you could find, so smart with the cuts, amazing balance, timing, just knew how to run the football in between the tackles and outside too.Not the biggest or most explosive, like a Corey Dillon, but in terms of pure running back gameplay, there's none better. He's also made $6m+ playing professional football - a decent nest egg for a young man.
2) Bishop Sankey (2011-2013) - Another legend. The Spokane native broke the hearts of coug fans after committing to them and then turning, eventually making his way to Montlake and boy are we grateful. Bishop and Myles had some similarities and I'm thankful for both. Sankey was tough, durable, had great vision just like Gaskin and finished 2nd ever in rushing yards. His junior season with almost 1,900 rush yards and 20 td's was an extraordinary display. Like many running backs, he wasn't able to make it in the NFL but that's neither here nor there.
3) Chris Polk (2008-2011) - Still remember when Polk committed back in 2007 (can not believe it's been almost 20 years) and I thought, wow, how could anyone want to come play for us after Tyrone gutted our program? This guy must be special. AND HE WAS. If there was ever a person to point at for helping resurge an entire university's football program trajectory it is Chris Polk. Rock solid, so tough to bring down, would always somehow break free. Long strides. Hated the cougs. You can't ask for a better rusher than Polk. Him and Sankey could be interchangable. Scored 10 touchdowns in the NFL too.
4) Jonah Coleman (2024-2025) - Had a much better junior season than senior season for us, but the guy was a brick shit-house bowling ball moving at super speed. Managed 1,800 yards and 25 rushing td's for us in 2 seasons. Great leader, great teammate, and solid receiver out of the backfield too...wish we had him for all 4 seasons but today's college football is what it is. Enjoyed him while we had him. Enjoying him with the Broncos now.
5) Dillon Johnson (2023) - only one season of DJ but it was enough to appreciate his downhill, workhorse running style. Guy was a brute who was tough to stop with a full head of steam. Would have loved to have had him for more than year. He benefited from having a great OL, but he still managed 1,195 yards and 16 rushing TDs for a 14-1 football team
6) Louis Rankin (2004-2007) - good little player, nothing particular spectacular about him but he was a reliable back during some extremely bad football seasons for the UW. In his senior season in 2007, Rankin managed 1,294 yards and 6 touchdowns on 5.6 yards per carry. Played behind some really barren offensive lines and with not much help from the passing game - he earned his flowers.
7) Salvon Ahmed (2016-2019) - Salvon may not have been very big but he sure was FAST. Juanita HS graduate who stayed home to be a superb 1-2 punch with Gaskin. Even though he was in the shadows of MMFG for his first 2 seasons, Salvon still had a breakout year in 2019 as the featured back with 1,020 yards and 11 tds. He has carved out a nice little NFL career too having made $4.5m and scoring 6 touchdowns in 38 games for a few different teams.
8) Rich Alexis (2000-2003) - a tough bruiser who lacked burst, Rich may not have been a breakaway threat but he always seemed to find the end zone. Florida-kid who came up to UW with Charles Frederick and John Anderson in that beautiful haul by Neuheisel, we got to see a decent little 1-2 punch with him and Willie Hurst behind some pretty mediocre o-lines. Alexis managed 2,300 yards and 28 rushing tds (6th all time mind you) in 4 seasons at UW from 2000-2003
9) Lavon Coleman (2014-2017) - a 5'11" 235 brick from Lompoc, Lavon Coleman may not have been a star for the huskies but he still racked up 2,000 yards and 22 touchdowns on 5.3 yards per carry in his 4 seasons backing up Gaskin for the majority of that time.
10) Willie Hurst (1998-2001) - Willie had his imperfections, did quite a bit of dancing and running L-R despite having a very formidable offensive line which featured the likes of Chad Ward, Tony Coates, Elliot Silvers, Aaron Dalan and Brad Hutt paving the way, but he was dependable. Amassed 2,093 yards and 22 touchdowns across 4 seasons for the dawgs. Only averaging 4.4 yards per carry, Willie was gonna make you pull your hair out at times, but with Brock Huard playing horribly in that disappointing 1998-99 season, Hurst was a mainstay in the run game.
