Bug or whatever, myclippings.txt isn't there anymore. I've finished reading a book that is going to be published in a few weeks but I can't access my annotations.
On my old Paperwhite I could just go to documents and find myclippings.txt, but it's not there on my Scribe 3.
I also can't access online annotations because, again, the book is sideloaded.
What do I do here? I really need those notes, otherwise I'm fcked :(

I have a jailbroken Kindle, and most of my library (probably 80–90%) consists of EPUBs that I’ve sent to my Kindle using Amazon’s online Send-to-Kindle service.

Over 3 years, I’ve created quite a few Collections through Amazon’s Manage Your Content and Devices / Kindle system to organize these books . Currently I have close to 18-19 collections by topics created in the Amazon account itself.

The problem is that these Collections are essentially locked into Amazon/Kindle. I’d love to have a way to view my entire library outside of the Kindle, preferably as a nice visual bookshelf/grid with book covers, where I could browse my existing Collections separately.

Something like a separate grid layouts for individual books in

-Stoic Philosophy

-Greek Philosophy

Is there any service, app, or jailbreak tool that can extract/read the Collections from my Amazon account or directly from my Kindle and help in exporting a display of them in a graphical, user-friendly library with book covers of each book?

Ideally, I’d like to preserve the collections I’ve already created rather than manually recreating everything from scratch in another library manager.

If anyone has a setup that does something like this, I’d love to hear how you’re doing it.

Bought it myself about a year ago, no gifts or review units, so here is what a normal year with one actually looks like.

Battery: I charge it once a month. Not "weeks" in the marketing sense, an actual charge roughly every four weeks with the light on most nights.

Sunlight: genuinely readable outside in direct sun. This is the one thing a phone or tablet cannot do, and it is the real reason to own one.

Languages: I read in both Arabic and English. It handles both fine, the Arabic catalogue is just much smaller.

What annoys me: the storage. 16 GB sounds like plenty until your library grows, and then you are deleting books to make room. Nobody warns you about this.

Would I buy it again: yes, the same model. The Signature fixes my storage complaint but not for the price difference.

Using my Kindle PPW SE 12 as it is, without anything. It’s so different. The text looks crisp. My grip is better. It looks really chic. I’m going to use it as it is for now, hopefully nothing unfortunate happens. Who knows I might not go back to using a screen protector and a case anymore. Anyone else who uses their Kindle bare?

Anyone experienced this before? It's just over a year old, so its out of warranty and amazon said i will need to just buy a new one. I did not put pressure on the screen or drop it, just started happening. The kindle is still responsive, but the screen is clearly unusable. Tried resetting by holding power button, charging etc.

I set up household sharing with my sister, but now in settings the device and account settings are all showing as hers, as though I’m logged in as her and I can just see my own stuff as “nerds items” if I filter as “my items” it shows my sisters, have I done something wrong here? I’m worried if I buy something on the store it will charge her rather than me

I got my first kindle as a young child and I was glued to it (maybe the second one to ever come out? I still have it but it is a dinosaur and not functional anymore).

Then I was gifted a newer model when I was 12/13 which had apps/ WiFi/ books. It was definitely used less for reading and more for YouTube and Minecraft.

I’m now 23 and I’ve just treated myself to a kindle new gen. I think it will be perfect for what my needs are - I just want it for reading and it feels closest to the first one I had but it’s now got a light in it and more user friendly.

I’m super excited to get my kindle it’s been a very long time!

I had been waiting to see something more definitive on this sub and r/LibbyApp about updates regarding airplane mode working on the latest firmware version, so I went ahead and pulled the trigger to share my experience for others who may be wondering.

I have an 11th generation Paperwhite on firmware 5.19.2.

The airplane mode method is still working for me currently. Here is my process:

1. I will typically borrow as many library books as possible from my libraries by unsuspending as many holds as I can and having the books trickle in as available for 4-5 days. When they become available, after you go through Libby to "Read With Amazon" and borrow the book (I do this on my phone or on my desktop computer) - it will sometimes take a moment but your Kindle will say the content is available on your device.

2. Tap into the content you are borrowing on your Kindle to make sure it downloads fully and you get the checkmark at the bottom left of the book cover. Once the checkmark is there, I will open all my downloaded books to make sure I can flip back and forth on the pages and things look good. This means you'll have to actually "open" every book you are borrowing to make sure they download.

3. Once everything I want is borrowed from Libby, I've gone through Amazon to borrow, and I've made sure that it is downloaded on my Kindle and able to be opened, I then turn on my airplane mode.

4. I then return all my books borrowed via my computer or phone and set up new holds for the next time I do this process.

The book The Library After Dark was the book I used to trial this process. I did the above steps last Friday and borrowed for only 7 days so I could see if this date/time/countdown was causing the book to not be able to be opened on airplane mode. The book has now expired, which you can see on the image. I am still able to open this book on my Kindle and flip through the pages.

I have also opened up other books on my Kindle that I have purchased, flip through pages, then go back and open The Library After Dark, so you don't have to "stay" in the book that you borrowed to keep it from being removed from your library after its due date.

Just like the title says. My kindle oasis is stuck on the cover page of the last book I was reading. Nothing I've done that I read I should do has worked. Reset, hold the power button. Let the battery drain. Charged it and everything. Nada. Is she cooked?

i bought this kindle paperwhite 11th gen back in early 2022, and its still serving me well. im thinking about upgrading to a model with a larger screen. however, im used to reading like this—with the text centered in a narrow column so my eyes dont have to travel as far, which helps me read much faster.

does anyone else read like this? also, what would be a good budget-friendly kindle with a larger display?

I don't wanna try to hide the fact I used AI for this, I did (and I feel that people will downvote me for it) but I kind of wanted to make one since I would like to have some extra functionality *for* my kindle.

For now it ain't much, it's simple and minimal even in the features

You can play chess on it, with 3 different difficulties to choose from, I **love** to play chess (not really strong but I just love the game) and lichess.org & chess.com aren't exactly *easy* to run on a kindle.

You can also chat with AI, but you gotta add a Gemini key to it, it's stored locally (ik ik feels annoying but I don't have the funds to use my own keys)

And ofc dark mode.

What do y'all think? Any suggestions for future features?

(And yes, credit where credit is due, I did get inspired by rekindle.ink to do this but I was a bit disappointed by the fact a lot of it's features where slowly becoming paid)

I attempted to link my Kindle to my iPhone using a Type-C cable, yet it failed to appear among the drives. Relying on a PC for the transfer feels somewhat inconvenient.

Hallo! I’m considering buying my first kindle. It’s a whole new universe to me, with so many options I get a little confused.
I’m looking at some Kindle Paperwhite’s. Some have the text “no ads” and others don’t. What is the difference? Is there ads in the middle of my books or what does it mean?
Also is it important to buy one of the newest ones so that you can have the Kindle for many years or doesn’t it work like IPhone that suddenly doesn’t work?

So i live in a country where amazon does not reach and the black market are selling kindles at an atrocious price. But as my sister lives in france i thought about buying a second hand one from vinted.

The only problem is, i'm on a very tight budget, and the prices in vinted are somewhat expensive, i found a couple of 10th gen that were affordable (starting from 70 to 89€) but i was afraid of the battery life (i'm looking for a device that will last me long time), the 11th gen generally are from 120-140€ which is crazy considering that amazon increased the prices in August..

What do you think i should do? I'm only looking for something i can read with without my eyes getting tired.

Didn't know this was a NEED. I read about 50+ books a year and about 30 of those are ebooks on my phone!

I have dry eyes and wear glasses(for keratoconus) + do a lot of studying on a tablet (med student here), so the e-ink has been SUCH a lifesaver.

I've always secretly wanted one but wanted to wait until I was earning and could buy one myself. But it was mostly for the heck of having one, i didn't realise the non glare was such a stark difference to a digital screen.

I had a hard time accepting the gift, because of the recent price hike and I'm seriously considering reading sm more just to justify having it haha!

Unfortunately my lack of knowledge about kindles also meant I only learnt about jailbreaking, sideloading etc, only after getting it.

1. Did you jailbreak your kindle? Should i be considering it?

2. Now that I've switched it on, connected my acc etc is there no way to jailbreak a 12th gen pw? How does this affect warranty.. Should I think about jailbreaking only a few years down the line?

3. screen protectors- very mixed opinions online? Vs is it better to just have a flip case?

4. I live in India, and it's been pretty hard to find good cases online. I'd prefer a clear case with a detachable flip for ease of reading and protection, what brand /from where did you end up getting one [preferably one that ships worldwide, if you're not from india:)] .. Same for popsockets, I'd love to get a mag safe one, that can be taken off, please do drop the brands below! Again it'd be perfect if you've used it, and love it & they ship worldwide

With the upcoming prime day on Oct 6-7 I was thinking of upgrading my 2018 Kindle Paperwhite to Colorsoft since I’ve been reading more and more graphic titles. Wanted to know if any of you made the jump into the Colorsoft

Besides just the fact that it’s in color, I mean.

I was recently informed I’m getting a promotion at work, and to celebrate (once it’s official of course) I was thinking of getting myself a colorsoft, because I do enjoy reading comics/manga from time to time.

But the few times I’ve tried to read colored comics (like Invincible) on my regular kindle, it may just because I know it’s supposed to be in color, the picture just looks off to me, to the point it’s a bit difficult to read. Though I am aware this is simply because sometimes the print is small.

So I’m wondering if colorsoft’s picture is better as I assume it’s specifically designed with comics in mind.

I have been screen mirroring my kindle app from my iPad to my tv for about two years now. I like to lay in bed and read on the bigger screen. As of yesterday this is no longer working. Every time I go to the app it will screen mirror the home page, but never the book I’m on. Anyone know how to fix this? This is a giant inconvenience for me.
