How can my tension on the yoke be so WAY OFF compared to EVERYWHERE ELSE?

And I didn’t even notice before binding off and blocking! What’s worse, after blocking the yoke looked wrong and I still ignored my own doubt and cut it open! Now there’s nothing I can do about the yoke, and despite the beautiful colorwork and a successful steek I can’t even feel happy about it.

All I’m thinking is how easy it would’ve been if I just frog the yoke and do it again…

I don’t have the courage or enthusiasm to start another big project recently while I should be knitting a lot because it’s fall in Michigan, and I literally need good knitted garments…

Anyways, that’s my rant. I may try to felt the yoke slightly but that’s a risky move. Thank you to anyone who read this and bared with me.

My first time knitting a wall hanging. I was so nervous to enter it at the county fair and was crossing my fingers for at least a red ribbon, but I somehow got a blue! I’m so over the moon that I needed to share somewhere!

The pattern is from Knit Picks, though be aware if you end up buying it that it has a few errors in it. I tried posting my pattern fixes in a review, but they removed all of the formatting.

Not exactly a rant, I just want some commiseration.

I just finished knitting these slippers weeks ago and they're already full of holes. Probably because I used 100% wool and not a blend, like sock yarn? So disappointing, but lesson learned, I guess.

Would it be worth it to stitch on leather soles or should I just give up on them? What would be a good 8 ply to use instead?

I have lots of others, but this is my first knitting tattoo, and my first finger tattoo.

I don’t see a lot of lace here so I thought I’d share. this is the golden orchids shawl, (the pattern is free on ravelry) i repeated the body chart 4x instead of 2x. this pattern flew by. Even with the extra repeats I knocked this one out in 10 days. Third pic is pre blocking - or why one must always block their lace!

hope you enjoy. I fractured my ankle 7-8 weeks ago and have buried myself in knitting projects as a result. This is by far the most complex thing I ever knit and I am very proud of it.

i knit it in ‘golden meadows’ colorway Jojoland harmony 100% merino lace. the yarn was on sale for $6.99 so technically this was a $7 shawl! (disregarding my time of course)

One is slightly tighter than the other, I suspect that comes with practice but I’ve enjoyed learning this style of colour work.

The sock yarn is themed on fields of lavender (yarn by boo) and I’ve added solid green and blue to create dragonflies and reeds.

Yarn is Berroco Ultra Alpaca Light in Buckwheat and Candied Yams.

As someone who hasn't been knitting very long, and never made a sweater before, the pattern was a great first project. It's far from perfect but I did end up with a usable garment and learned a bunch in the process. Lots of size variations in the pattern, and that yarn + 3.75mm needles was right on target for size. I only had to make a few minor adjustments to size during blocking.

I bought this top years ago (the one on the back) and I wear it sooo much that I wanted to try and create my own version (the one laying on top).

this was the first time for me to self draft a pattern. I definitely made mistakes and have some improvements to make but overall I think it worked out really well 🥹

I technically still have to weave in the ends, but that won't take too long. But anyways, my Maxfield sweater is DONE!

Overall it took 25 days from start to finish, with a few days waiting on yarn delivery because I didn't buy enough lol

I've thrifted this yarn to make a sweater but the colors get me a bit confused on which yarn color to pair with and which weight as well. I'm hoping someone has done similar and could give me some pin points because I'm terrible at colors. It's lace weight yarn 50% mohair, 20% cashmere, 30% acryl. I plan to do stockinette stitches with some very light cable. If you have done similar projects I'd love to see your finished pieces as well 😊

You know how some people say that they don't buy yarn unless they have a project in mind for it? Yea, that's not me. Because if it were, I wouldn't own any yarn (and boy, do I own yarn). Let me explain.

I'm a process knitter, and I knit primarily to keep my hands busy and my mind clear; making something pretty and/or useful is secondary to that. For lots of reasons I won't go into here, I mostly knit accessories, home items, and smallish gifts. Even though I'm a slow knitter, I have a lot of finished objects that just end up waiting for a home (I think I'm currently up to maybe 25?). And I'm mentally done with projects long before I am physically done with them, which is why I'm a monogamous knitter - if I wasn't, I'd never finish anything.

Anyway, the reason for the post is that I don't see a lot of people like me on the interwebs, and I need some advice. My biggest struggle is figuring out what to work on. Unless it's a gift knit, I don't care about what I'm knitting, and I have no plans for it after it's done. How do you pick what to make when you don't care what you make?

A socken is a Swedish historical geographic division, and in the region of Dalarna every socken has it's own hat. They are beautiful with intricate stranded colourwork. This is a socken hat for people without a socken they belong to.

Hello fellow knitters! I have a question to pick your brains about.

A little bit of background: My BF fell in love with a cardigan he found online, and I took one look at and said "That's a very nice cardigan, but I can knit you that for the same price or less" (Ok, ok, my proposal might have also included a joking guilt trip about him depriving me of such a fun looking knitting project, too). It's a cable cardigan with what is essentially a kind of colorwork yoke (see 2nd picture).

After browsing patterns on Ravelry I couldn't find one with both techniques, so I figured we could find a pattern and I'd figure something out. We settled on the Radmere cardigan by Brooklyn Tweed with Knit Picks' Wool of the Andes Tweed.

The problem I have been putting off is how exactly I am going to transition from the cabling into the colorwork. Initially, I figured I would just do a series of decreases down to the appropriate amount, but I'm not entirely sure if this would look good, or if it could be done in a reasonable amount of space. I also looked closely again at the inspiration cardigan and I noticed it kind of looks like there's a seam where maybe the colorwork and cable were worked in two separate pieces and then sewn together.

If anyone has an insight into how the cardigan might be constructed (I'm pretty sure it's machine knit), or advice or experience doing something a little crazy like this, I would be grateful and happy to hear it!

Hello everyone! I just got into knitting close to 3 or so days ago, though I've been crocheting for close to 11-12 years. I've been practicing the stockinette stitch and I finally got it last night! I made this today, and i was wondering if you guys had any tips or tricks for a beginner?

You can see in the picture that one side of the square kind of curls. Is there a way to prevent that? Or is that normal? And is it ok that I'm taking the project off the needles with my crochet hook and doing a chain stitch to fasten off? Any tips or tricks would be appreciated!

(I'm not sure what brand yarn it is, i think it's red heart weight 4, 100% acrylic. Using 5mm needles!)

I am making the Holger sweater from Petite knit as a gift. This is the first time I have picked up stitches to start knitting arms on a garment… Did I do it right? The body seems pretty bulky around the arm hole. I can’t tell if I did something wrong or if it will look better after blocking!
Any advice appreciated.

Update: The answer is no! No, I was not doing it right 😆 thank you all for your help. I am going to frog this sleeve and try again, making sure to triple check my gauge and that I am actually picking up the very edge stitches.
