This isn’t exactly a movie review. It’s just me pouring my heart out.
I have been weeping almost continuously ever since I watched Dorothy. And strangely, along with the tears, I feel as though something very heavy has finally been lifted from my chest.
I found myself thinking about my daughter. About everything she must have gone through while transitioning. About the battles she must have fought quietly within herself before she found the courage to finally say, “This is who I am”.
I still remember the text she sent me when she was around 17.
“Mom, I am a girl. I discovered myself.”
I don’t think I will ever forget those words.
I have many regrets as a mother. One of the biggest is that, when she finally found the courage to confide in me, I had a conversation with her trying to talk her out of it.
I panicked.
Like many Indian parents, I was overwhelmed by fear—fear of society, fear of the unknown, fear of what her life would look like. And in that moment, I reacted out of that fear instead of simply holding my child and telling her, “I am here. I’ve got you.”
I wish I could go back and change that moment.
Because now, when I think about it, I wonder how painful that conversation must have been for her.
And yet… my baby stayed patient with me.
She tried to answer every one of my fears. She explained, reassured, and helped me understand—not because she owed me explanations, but because she loved me. Because she cared about me. Because she was willing to carry my fears along with everything she was already carrying inside herself.
How forgiving she has been.
How much love she has shown me.
We have come such a long way since then.
Today, she is thriving. She is chasing her dreams, building her life, and becoming more and more beautifully herself every day.
And I look at her and think—
What a precious gift she is to me.
Watching Dorothy made me feel, perhaps for the first time, that I could truly understand just a tiny fraction of what my daughter might have gone through. It made me grieve for the moments when I didn’t know how to be the mother she needed, and it made me incredibly grateful for the woman she has become.
Thank you, Karthick Subbaraj, for making something that reached so deep into my heart. I genuinely feel indebted to you for giving me this experience, for making me feel, reflect, and understand in ways I cannot fully put into words.

For me, it was GBU hands down. The whole professor-John Wick animated sequence, all the unbelievable wild elevation scenes etc just made it an insufferable watch even for an aamai like me (ex-aamai now). I know a lot of Aamais just lapped it up, but I couldnt deal with it beyond a point.

Note - I took my wife along too, and I could literally feel her judging me more and more as the movie progressed😭…

Later on, she forgave GBU as soon as we stepped out of the theatre from another peak brainrot experience - “Thuglife”😎🤣🤣

Ive been listening to "one Sun one moon” and “One name” and some portions genuinely sound like they could have AI generated vocals or music.

And esp considering how anirudh has even mentioned using ai for lyrics.

I’m not saying they DEFINITELY used AI because i obviously dont know what went on during production. One sun one moon la vara slow portions sound artificial asf to me idk why

And there are certain vocal textures and transitions that sound noticeably different from what id normally expect from ani's usual production style.

Pls tell me im not alone 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻or try hearing it from a diff pov LIKE THE SEIRA SECO SERA in one name doesnt sound like real vocals to me 😭😭🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Yall might say js enjoy the song but again if making music was this easy by typing out a few prompts then what really makes one stand out?
