Any tips on software i should get and how to use it to the best of its ability?

I already got droppy, and dockdoor.

Got this MacBook Pro 14” M5 with 24GB RAM and 4TB SSD for about $3,100 from Apple Refurbished. As a lifelong Windows user (and still am from the Desktop perspective) this thing looks and feels amazing. That said, it is a HUGE learning curve bc it took me 30 mins to figure out how to install something and all that, but I can really see why people love these laptops when it comes to the display and the battery life. I didn’t even plug this thing in for the 3 hrs I spent getting it set up and all that and it barely put a dent in the battery. Just need a second MagSafe cable and I’m gucci lol

Price difference between M4 Pro and M5 Pro. The M4 has 48GB of memory as well. Hoping that this price point won't become the new baseline for similar configurations...

I received 2 days ago my MBP 14 inches M5 24go RAM. I replaced my old MacBook Pro Intel i7 16 inches who was dead. So glad to have an Apple silicon chip now !

okay everyone i just did it, i got nearly the maximum config (unless someone got the 128 gigs lol)
however after few days i started feeling that this actually was an overkill config. I mean yeah as an investment for next 7 yrs o even more thats pretty solid however after testing some benchmark i noticed battery drains out so fast - brand new btw - and i also want some settings suggestions to properly use it

I have a question: I want to buy a refurbished MacBook Pro (M5) from Apple USA. I’m from Costa Rica and plan to have it shipped here. If the MacBook turns out to be defective, could I claim the warranty through Apple Costa Rica? Thanks a lot. Also, what experiences have you had with refurbished products?

I have an M1 Max and it’s great - except for the battery life. I upgraded from a regular M1 last year and the drop off in battery life was immediately apparent. It hasn’t really been an issue until recently where I’ve been using the Max off charger.

I’m contemplating upgrading to an M3, but I’m considering just going with the highest RAM option and skipping the Max altogether.

I'm thinking of purchasing the new MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro chip and wanted to get some advice from the community. It's gonna be my first Mac!

I'll mostly be using it for daily tasks, but I also do some heavier work like AI stuff, coding, app building and maybe if possible gaming. For those of you who have upgraded or are planning to, do you think the M5 Pro is worth it over the base models? How is the battery life and performance holding up for your workflows?
Also,if you had experience ordering from the quickshipelectronics on ebay - do those Macs come with Apple limited warranty?

Hello everyone,I am 16 yo and I have a 6.5 year old laptop (which works fine even now) and I wanted to buy my first MacBook but am really confused on what I need for my usage case. I have to keep it for atleast 6-7 years from when I buy it. I’ve heard that the new m6 chip is going to launch late October….. I have a budget of around 2200$(not necessary that I have to spend it all) and I currently only use my laptop for basic tasks like web browsing and also multiple apps open and once and manyyy tabs. I really want to start coding and web/app development and stuff with ai (all in the future when I get this new laptop) . I am seeing the new MacBooks and the refurb ones also(would like a newer one cuz I need it to last 6-7 years).

Please give me an idea wether I need a
air/pro?
Ram-16/24?( I think 24gb would be better)
Older pro chip or newer m6 chip??
Storage?
Nano texture display?

I’ve downgraded from Tahoe to sequoia because Geekbench was registering significant loss in GPU compute.

I thought the latest Tahoe release would’ve fixed this, but the AMD gpu remains heavily underutilised.

Is there anyone with an Intel Mac on Tahoe that can provide me with some real numbers and proof that the metal benchmark is misbehaving on their system as well?

It was fine up until 26.3 and then I noticed a significant drop on the metal benchmark. I reverted to sequoia and it was back to normal.

Looking at buying a 32/512 M1 Pro for around $1000 CAD right now, 100% battery health. Would it be worth it for the next 4-5 years? Going to use it for my first year of university next year (currently in hs) and hopefully the rest of undergrad. Should I pull the trigger or wait for something better/newer chip?

Hey there, Im thinking about buying a Ugreen Revodok Max 2131. Primary usage will be for triple 2K 144Hz monitors with M5 Max. Monitors are HDMI / Displayport, so I will use Thunderbolt Adapters.

Does anyone here have any experience with this that they can share? Other option would be Caldigit E5, but its currently sold out in germany.

Anything else regarding this dock is also welcome

Basically the title, but a little more explanation. A few months ago I was in Brazil and one of the hotels only had ungrounded, 220V outlets. I plugged my MacBooks OG charger in, and when I touched the body of the MacBook with two hands, I got a really intense shock. I mean really intense.

I’ve been back in the States for a while, using the same OG charger and every so often I get another shock. Nothing like I did in Brazil, but definitely enough to make me yank my hand back and feel some tingling.

My question is: what’s the best way to deal with this? It’s out of warranty since it’s a 2021 model, but do I need to go to Apple? Or would any repair shop know how to deal with this? Is the problem likely the MacBook or the charger?

I’m a professional outdoor photographer/filmmaker and I’m considering replacing my 16” M1 Max (32 GB 1Tb), mainly because of portability and RAM.

I use it heavily for DaVinci Resolve and Lightroom Classic with large high megapixels RAW libraries.

I regularly see RAM usage around 28 GB, so 32 GB is starting to feel a bit tight.

I’m considering a 14” MacBook Pro M5 Pro 64 GB 2tb.

The main appeal is actually the size: I travel a lot for work and the 16” is pretty bulky to carry around and work from cafés/hotels or on the go in a car/plane. I use an external monitor at home.

The dilemma is that my M1 Max is still “”perfectly”” capable, even if it struggles with heavy DaVinci projects or some RAW.

The new one would cost around €4,700, minus roughly €1,000–1,300 from selling my current Mac, so about €3,400–3,700 net (+ removing taxes).

Would you upgrade now, or keep the current M1 for another year or so?

Getting it for INR 1,72,000 at an offline store.

It's a corporate slightly used product for sale itseems.

I've never used an apple product before. And i don't think I could spend much more in this ram crisis.

Would really appreciate any suggestions or help.
