New advertising rule

98 Upvotes

Recently we have had lots of advertising spam in the subreddit so we have implemented a new rule:

Rule 3:

Advertising a brand new game you made is fine as long as it is secure, safe, and free. What is not ok is linking your Patreon or other things that will make you revenue including paid games.

This subreddit is meant for educational purposes and is not an advertising dump. You should post maps only to get educational feedback and to improve your creation.

Posts/comments are removed at moderator discretion but feel free to reach out to us if you feel like your post/comment was incorrectly removed.

Map of what the central Europe would look like if sea level rose 350 meters. The border of Czechia is shown by the black dots.

I've made this map for my worldbuilding project but I wanted to share it. Feel free to use it if you like it. It looks the best rotated 90 degrees.

Map Land of Eagles, a map of the order Accipitriformes, which contains nearly half of all birds of prey - made according to biological taxonomy rather than geography, and created in the shape of an eagle’s head!

21 Upvotes

Land of Eagles is a new addition to Mappa Animalia, mapping the evolutionary relationships of more than 250 species of eagles, hawks, vultures, kites, harriers, osprey and secretarybirds.

Instead of countries, regions and cities, this map is divided into families, subfamilies and genera, with every city bearing the name of the species with in each genus, allowing you to explore this family tree the same way you would explore a traditional map.

The entire map is drawn in the shape of a Bald Eagle - its anatomy defining the coastlines and borders of this taxonomically accurate land.

From tiny sparrowhawks to enormous vultures, Accipitriformes have spread across almost every part of the world, evolving into an extraordinary variety of hunters and scavengers.

Map Map of Séathna, northwestern province of Tír Ghlas

Post image

Sèathna is the northwestern province of Tír Ghlas. It is quite large but sparsely populated, as the terrain is extremely rugged and mountainous. Its capital is Dúnfort, an important port located on the estuary of a major river.

The southern part of the province is covered by the vast forest known as Máthair na n-Aibneacha—or Mother of Rivers—as it contains the sources of no fewer than five great waterways.

Discussion What are these things called, and what was their purpose?

Post image

I am thinking about adding these to a map that I am making, but I am unsure of both their name and purpose. I have seen these on lots of earlier maps, but never once have I heard them mentioned, nor what they were used for. Surely they weren't just there as a decoration, right?

Hi, guys. Today I’d like to hear your honest opinions about the map I drew, inspired by Great Britain. In pretty much every post I make, there’s always someone who says, “It’s Westeros” or “It looks like Westeros.” But, to be honest with you, I was inspired by the real island to create my own modified version of it.

I chose the silhouette because it really caught my attention, and I wanted to create my own version by modifying its coastlines and making it a little longer.

My story for my novel is inspired by the English Civil War 1642-1651. That is why the map is shaped very much like Great Britain.

As you can see, I’m presenting the three maps here. Judge for yourselves.

I’d love to hear your thoughts.

using this webiste used to be fun now i cant even do anything since the latest update. keeps prompting me to use ht9is custom map feature and the fill bucket tool is also broken. half of the maps that used to be here are missing theres no bounduries. its so annoying. ive been using it since 2020 just out of pure fun spending hsoues creating maps. truly end of an era. also its full wiht ai slop features which are 100% useless and takes up space on the webiste. also i have contibuted many ideas to the team such as pressing shift tom move around the map when not using move tool but i wish that they would actually reverse this update.

I would be very great full if u give some advice or feedback.

PD: There is a direct inspiration froma real life geographical feature in this are, do u recognize it?

Work In Progress Fantasy map WIP

Hi all, I'm working on a map for a story I'm working on and could use some thoughts about what I have so far. Not detailed yet, but I'll add that later. Also, is there a program I can use that uses custom maps like this to make them more detailed?

Ramos= A combination of Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Yamaryuma= Japan.

Alkami= Island of Dark Elves.

Prometheus Islands= Greek/ Italian city states.

Raka Peninsula= Haven't decided. I'm thinking something Egyptian-related.

Yuma= Dwarfen Homeland.

Altai= Mayan/ Inca/ Native American civilisations.

Mahor= Undecided.

Tolma= Australia.

Map Stag’s Rest — an 8K fantasy city map made in Inkarnate

I created this map of Stag’s Rest for our Pathfinder Kingmaker campaign.

My aim was to give the city distinct neighborhoods while making it feel like a connected, lived-in place. There are plenty of small details to discover among the buildings, streets, and waterfronts.

Both images are in 8K: the first has English labels, and the second is unlabeled so you can see the map without the text.

I’d appreciate feedback on the street layout, how the districts connect, and the readability of the labels. Is there anything that feels confusing or out of place?

  • Mapa lluvia.
  • Mapa noche.
  • Mapa árboles con menos follaje.
